      that actually wouldn't work. Try it someday if you don't believe me... The pressure as you go even as deep as 3-4ft under water is so immense that the air in your lungs will be pressurized significantly more than the air at sea-level. This prevents you from being able to use diaphragm and rib-muscles to inhale...

    When clearing a snorkel, there is no need to feel bound to clear it one time. Think of it as an exercise in not panicking, just relax, blow out, breath in just enough, blow out again....job done.

    Ya one little problem with the fullface is it clamps to ur face really tight if u breathe in underwater accidentally, which is hard not to do since u cant accualy tell where the snorkel is at the top, and if u don't have enough air in ur lungs to breathe out and losen it, well u can't get the mask off or breathe

    If you are going to be doing any beach entry dive where there is surf involved, like we have in Southern California, do not use a snorkel that has a flex section, it will twist and close off and when you inhale, you can’t get any air. The flex snorkels do have their place, just not a beach entry where you are going through surf!

    interesting film, many people say that in a full-face mask you can not dive, it means to go to a depth of less than 1 m and this is due to buoyancy or pressure on the ears. In the film you can see that someone is swimming. I have 2 questions, the first is whether in the mask turning the face up, the valve will unlock and let water into the mask? second question, people with malocclusion having a problem with biting the mouthpiece of the tube (classic mask + tube solution) can buy a tube without having to bite when going under water?

    Well, i was disappointed you didnt warn that flexible snorkel part can be squished by pressure when you dive more than 5 meters and does weird things to your toungue. I would never, ever advice anyone except kids under constant supervision to use full face mask, just because you cant remove it fast enough on emergency, on top, they are plastic and after a while become scratched as hell, unlike tempered glass of a normal mask that doesnt care that you leave it on sandy towel. And people diving footage with full face mask is extremply misleading and dangerous.

      You should not keep a snorkel in your mouth when you dive down.

    • @RobObertelli
      @RobObertelli Год назад

      Only a snorkel filled with air will compress. Do away with the unnecessary and failure-prone “dry snorkel” gubbins and it won’t ever happen. The snorkel will fill with water but will drain via the purge valve and a modest puff outwards as soon as you surface. Keeping your tongue against the roof of your mouth will also totally stop water entering your mouth via a flooded snorkel.

      If you pass out or have an incapacitation at the bottom with the snorkel in your mouth, more water may enter in your mouth and possibly in your lungs, reducing chances of resuscitation.

    • @robobertelliclark988
      @robobertelliclark988 Год назад

      I understand the reasoning for it, but half a century of experience as purely a snorkel diver convinced me that it’s wrong.
      Regular snorkel divers don’t stay down for long and don’t go particularly deep. They’re at the surface long before there’s any apnea risk.
      Freedivers and those in other apnea disciplines are different. For them it may make sense. But again, my extensive experience has conditioned me to keep my mouth closed and tongue against the roof of my mouth without even needing to think of it.
      If I’m that deep and that short of breath to be at risk of passing out, then that’s my own bad miscalculation. But fiddling around during normal ascents to replace the snorkel into my mouth, without also disturbing my mask seal, whilst still underwater is a much bigger risk. I know; I tried following conventional wisdom and found it to be appalling advice: I had far more water trying to force itself into my mouth, airways and nasal sinus cavities than I’ve ever had before and far more flooded masks to clear and the latter is far less easy when you cannot take a lungful from a SCUBA regulator first.
      I find that your advice is often given by those who have SCUBA experience or are in the extreme world of apnea disciplines such as freediving. I can’t recall anyone who was purely a regular snorkel diver ever repeating it except to say that they tried it and found it far more risky for no gain.
