Change your hoses, thermostat and coolant, keep the oil level full, and check your engine weekly and your chances of overheating your vehicle are very slim. Shut it down immediately if it is running hot.

If it starts to run hot we get some speed up, put it in neutral, turn it off and let it roll for a minute or 2. By that time the car will cool a little. Start it, get it back up to some decent speed in about 30 seconds and repeat 😅😅😅.

my daughter overheated a ford taurus that I bought for her, after the tow truck dropped it, I cranked it, it was like the plugs were out, I knew from past jobs that the intake valves were warped (the exhaust valves are stainless, the can take it), so I did not yell at her, or call her stupid, I just made her fix it, it turned out to be a good time, she never did anything like that again, and now she knows how cars work

Drove with the heater on full blast, with the windows down, all the way up I-5. This managed to keep the temp out of the red. Replaced the thermostat, which I suspect was stuck only partially closed. I lost the oil pan on my 2006 Saab 9-3 at 195,000 miles due to a rock when I went off road when a tree was falling down on me. The oil leaked out. Stopped driving immediately and got a tow to my independent mechanic. The subfame was damaged, as was a crack in the plastic cover of the front cover. It was $4000 to fix, so I sold it. However, with those repairs made it ran fine with no damage to the engine. Now the second owner had 255,000 on it 5 years later and it is going strong at the age of 17 years old.

So I sold it to my independent mechanic who loves Saab, he rebuilt it pulling some parts from a junkyard getting the parts cost down to $3700. Paid me $300 for the car. Sold it for $4100. So he only made $100 on the car and it was not worth it but he said I took such good care of the car up to that point he knew it was in good condition if the work was done Apparently, he was right as it is still running today now with 170,000 on the original powertrain

I replaced filter housing with an aluminum one with same original oil cooler with new gaskets and it apparently fixed it. That was 38 k miles ago ( now has 162k )and no problems. My engine was not overheating. My only symptom was oil on driveway.

I have a 2012 Buick lacrosse that ran hot due to a freeze and water being used in the radiator. There was a busted coolant line in the radiator, so I swapped it out. There was water in my transmission bc of the busted line so I drained the fluid a few times and even changed the filter just to be safe. The car runs fine but now I’m realizing there is water coming from the left side of the middle of my motor. There’s no water in my engine oil so that’s a plus but it drains my radiator. Any ideas on what’s wrong? Someone said freeze plugs another said the head may still be shot just not bad enough to mix water in my oil. Any thoughts?

I believe with these engines that head gaskets blow even if engine doesn’t get hot enough into the red. My experience with Chrysler products is when it occurs it’s fairly instant and unsuspecting. Sad for Chrysler they refuse to fix such catastrophic flaws. Reason that car company is experiencing a slow death. Like long Chrysler customer and now may have to go to ugly Toyota. Toyotas are ugly but run reliable.

It really bothers me that people will drive an engine into the ground. My son drove my Mercury until it gave up the ghost. I had maintained that car from new. It was originally my mothers car, and it was in marvelous condition. Oil change every 6,000 miles with Mobile 1. A radiator hose burst, I was about to change all the hoses, but my son was using the car. The engine was completely wiped out, including a bent rod and shrunk pistons. The head was as shiny as new money because of quality oil and maintenance.

Man I accidentally put some water in an over heating engine… radiator was BONE DRY… a tiny hose popped… put a splash of water in it and immediately regretted it. Well… it works out the engine is still working fine. I ran it so hot the spark plugs were melted to the plug boot/wires. I changed all the hoses, and the compression was fine with no leaks in the radiator, no bubble… runs fine… wonder if the ARP headstuds and rod bolts helped it from destroying itself during a massive over heat situation.

These 3.6s sure do not seem as durable as the 4.7s they replaced. The 4.7 isn't the best thing I've ever seen but they normally, even in an overheat, the bottom end survived an overheat if stopped in time perfectly fine. I've had the heads on several of those with dropped seats completely repaired from overheat and if done correctly have a perfectly good engine.
Both those don't hold a candle to the engines of the 90s, I ran a 318 Dodge with blue cylinder walls over 15K miles before I got tired of feeding it oil.

This video is a little old, so I don’t remember. But the cost of the engine varies. We always go for lowest mileage and We always quote a gold warranty if it’s used. Engine was probably over $2k Also have to fix original point of failure if any. Did you factor in labor for oil cooler? Also I’m not sure what my labor rate was at that time but it isn’t $125. Hasn’t been for a long time. I’ve had to make adjustments to accommodate for the rising cost of doing business. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching my videos 👨🏽‍🔧🩺

that engine is gone, I can tell it has a tight bearing from the way it cranks, they drove it until it stopped, it may be worth fixing with used car prices so high but I would not do it for that customer, better to buy it for the salvage value, fix it up, Shon will sell it

Putting a floor mat down on a filthy disgusting car? Thats class, but good lord i wish people would learn to take care of their vehicles. Cars ain't cheap. Especially if you don't maintain them properly. Take care of your vehicles people, and if you can't afford tires, dont own a car.
My father taught me to always keep a clean car. I wash my car weekly and detail it, and wax it every few months. And there's no better feeling then driving a clean car
