I agree completely. You can't outsource your problems to other people and expect them to get fixed.
Somewhat contradictory, but I believe a struggling person should struggle alone rather in a group because you get the dopamine hit of telling the group what you're going to do, and it's harder to actually take action. Desire alone isn't enough to circumvent problems, you have to go to ground 0 to try to get your life in order. When you're not telling people your plans, the only way to get dopamine is the actual execution of the plans.
