To be accurate one of the largest developers refused my close friend a payment plan. Because he was not a resident. Plans are only for residents. He had to pay in full as he is a British citizen
Then it was the wrong project. I'm from Germany, there are several companies here offering off-plan and ready Dubai property, and the off-plan properties ALL come with a payment plan. You can even pay by bank transfer now (from a German account), which is something the developers didn't use to do. Oh, of course I'm not a Dubai resident either, and I'm also not really planning on becoming one.

Why not mention SERVICE CHARGES, they will wipe out a huge chunk of your rent. Especially if you own a number of properties. Also don't think you can work in Dubai, since your competing against millions of Indians offering cheap labour. Be careful

But you have to pay income tax on your rental properties wherever you live, unless you live in Dubai, too, and don't just invest there.

No it is not mortgage in this case. Its the payment plan till the property is completed. Some projects give you post handover payment plan as well.
