The rent is dirt cheap, and the prices given here are on the high side, honestly. A single person can live quite comfortably in Sarajevo on $1500, with rent and everything. I did it for 4 years and lived a better life than in LA and Las Vegas currently. You don't need a car as public transportation is cheap and easily accessible, plus it's walkable, which is what I enjoyed even more. If you don't mind the suburbs, it's even cheaper.
I can't wait to move back at the end of the year. More freedom than here in the US in pretty much every sense, and it's a lot safer, too. The people are friendlier and always willing to help. No cursing and violence over every little problem or misunderstanding like in the states, where a lot of people seem to be on the edge constantly. People in Sarajevo aren't eager to argue and fight at all, and that makes everything easier and a lot more enjoyable. Bosnian cops even gave me a free ride home after a night of heavy drinking, and they are generally very calm and not looking to punish you in draconian ways for every little thing you do. Can't say the same for the US, unfortunately. I once got ticketed for feeding a homeless person in the land of the FEE. After living in Bosnia for 4 years, I'm having a hard time getting used to the US again.
I highly recommend Bosnia to any digital nomad. Mostar and Banja Luka are also great cities to live in and much cheaper than Sarajevo, so take a look at those as well. I personally love Mostar and its climate.
