Don't usually ever comment but this was by far the best vlog.. the most real and open you've ever been and there was such a sense of honesty.. really enjoyed watching and look forward to the rest... I can see why u became so ill after, clearly a tough process..one which u had to endure in public and without your greatest support sid.. well done xxx p.s can imagibe the lack of Sid for so long only made u stronger as a couple... I woulda gone mad tho..been married 3 years and only been apart from hubby 2 days since...
I don't understand this pageant tho, like it completely contradicts the what a muslimah is all about. A muslimah is someone who conceals her beauty and is known for her intelligence and personality rather than what she looks like. To have a pageant where you compete with who is "more beautiful" kinda doesn't sit well with me idk. I'm not saying I'm the perfect muslimah but even I know there's something not right about this show. But anyways I'm hoping for the best for you Dina :) love ya! xx
I know that its a Muslimah pageant but whow, you have to be able to read Quran? What about converts that dont speak Arabic? Although I think we as Muslims should strive to read the Quran, that's very difficult. Anywho, I think its great although I do have mixed feeling about a Muslimah Beauty Pageant with hijabis.... Id miss my hubby so much. I think the longest we've been apart is a week maybe haha. EEK sharing a bed with woman you've never met...that sucks. I can see where you got exhausted.
Muslim women in South East Asia are very independent, they can travel, do business freely and some back pack alone around the world - and they all wear hijabs. The concept of mahram here is who one can marry and not marry - a women can always move around independently. Women is south east asia receive inheritance (in some cases men do not all - like the mingkabaus), are preachers and religious teachers - they teach both men, women and children in the front and some of these female daeis are quite famous. They sing nasyids, they work the fields, have jobs, they have a voice, they participate in religious activities. They can have meetings with men, in public and if its a private meeting they ensure that the place is open to everyone else as well, attend dinners and lunches. Women in Muslim South East Asia are equal to men as per the Al Quran and not distorted like what has happened in Arab or South Asian countries, where by women are no different to jewellery or livestock. It might be cheesy, but I suppose that is why Indonesia is prob. the only Muslim country to have a Muslim Beauty Pageant, but why not? The concept awrah is quite new in South East Asia, though we have been Muslims for ever so long - and for most part of it awrah has brought along the problem of sexualising women just as the west sexualise women images. Despite being Muslims not covering up in purdah is quite a common thing among Muslims in South East Asia, the weather is humid so bearing skin is normal, and we work in wet areas - it was common so nobody related it to sex until recent ulamas start preaching about awrah. I hope the independence. spirit and wisdom of Muslim women in South East Asia continues and I applaud our women, for being Muslim, women, wise, uniquely South East Asian and strong!
O my Goodness, I was laughing so hard at your facial expressions! You say all the right things, but your face is almost like -_-... it's hilarious. Love your vlogs and especially your honesty and sense of humor!
Aww Dina this is so not you and we can see your uncomfortable, but congrats in getting through it for the documentary! Looking forward to watching it in sha Allah That bed situation was terrible! Did you actually sleep on the sofa the whole time?
Well thats an odd vlog. But I'm so proud of you for sticking around the first day. I do love your outfit minus the weird blouse. Lol and why were they styling your headscarf? Ah, it was fine!!
hahahah "Oh look at the shoes... i wonder if im gonna like them..." well from how things have went so far, its unlikely haha hopefully it will get better, just make the most of it and enjoy what you can, look forward to seeing how it all turned out! :D
No I remember as well her old videos photos etc she used to cover it. If she just pulled it forward abit she it won't change her signature look. Maybe because of the blonde hair it's more noticeable these days. Anyway I'm not saying anything bad I'm just try to advice her in a positive way as most girls will look upto her.
I think the participants expectations may have been raised a little too high. As a one of a kind world pageant that's relatively new you would expect situations like these to happen(ie. participants sharing rooms or beds, cancelling the mahram situation) due to budget or cost complications. Albeit I do agree that it does create a stressful environment but we all know that behind the whole beauty pageant industry is the not so glamorous side that we don't really get to see.But Mashallah Kudos to Dina for being able to cope with all these difficulty throughout though!
hahahaha!! OMG! I could literally feel you hating them doing your hijab at 8:28, just try to have fun with it, i actually understand the fact that you're not very much into the whole thing, but try to get the best out of it! good luck to you Dina ^_^
It's so funny and weird at the same time to share the bed with 3 strangers, n to make u wear what they like ,, but in the end hope it will be a nice memory for u, n can't wait to see the rest of the vlogssss ♥ U r the best Dina..
I'm quite surprised! As a muslim, I hopped and expected this competition behind the scene to be something...something more!! you look totally uncomfortable and really outside your element as you indicated in the video. I hope whoever was responsible of the pageant is reading some of the comments cuz the islamic and non-islamic world stand and observe when we use the word "Islam" so i hope it will be presented more professionally next time. Thank you for sharing as usual Dina. PS: never went to a pageant, put i'm pretty sure they don't let girls sharing beds or picking their shoes this way!
It's interesting to see the bits they left out cos I watched the documentary on Thursday and it showed a slightly different image of how the experience was compared to your vlogs
You've already done so much for Hijabi's out there that this competition doesn't actually mean anything. There's not really a competition when it comes to you. Just go with the flow and try not to stress out. It might be weird and out of your comfort zone, as its a different culture and world you'll experience. You'll do great cause you are so awesome! Best of luck, Dina! cheering for you!!!!! p.s: Didn't get the logic of them quarantining you girls. Doesn't make sense. but whatever.
why couldn't they let u style yourself? I dont understand this, they could kind of rig it and given someone the best outfits. the mainstream pageants like miss world you and your team are in control of your dresses, swim wear and talent
Dina i felt awkward for you watching this!! I cant share a bed with my own sister because i like my space let alone sleep with three strangers on one bed :/
dina, it doesn't mattet wether you are good at reading the Qur'an, what matters is that you at least try and rewarded for reading the qur'an obviously but you get double the reward if you are struggling but still trying to read.
yes I knew that you have to know how to read the Quran which is why I recommended a couple of girls that I think will be great for this pagent - hehe your tooo funny rain is a blessing in Islam so no its not bad omen hehe
Hey Dina I'm from Germany, and I'm waiting for your collection coming soon.. 😍🙈 I hope that the clothes from your collection will be shipped to Germany too, pleeaaasseeee 😭😍😍😍😍💕👏🐯😌🐵🙈
my girl really wasnt in her element... i feel so bad.. at least it was a learning experience dina look at it that way. InshAllah it went well overall. xx
**SPOILERS** Folks who don't know! "This World Muslimah contest is already over and a girl named fatma from tunisia won "theworldmuslimah" title. And also this was like two weeks ago so yeah" :)
Dina, follow your intuition... You don't want to do this, so just don't... There will always be people who support you here. ❤️ You aren't comfortable... Don't do this..
It's even in a Hadith of the prophet (saw) that you should not share a bed with other people if you can avoid it. Seeing as this is a professional competition inclusive of the Islamic guidelines, surely they must have known that.
Fardowsa Ahmed . I don't understand why Muslim women are often made to feel like an 'other'. Am not being rude or anything but what is wrong with sharing a bed when the intentions are not sexual or bad? As long as the person sharing is comfortable. Things need to be taken in context and some hadith and revelations which came during the Prophet's time in Makkah and Madinah were purely on context. For example in my study I learnt that the Prophet married a young girl age is unsure but it was before the teenage age. To us now in a modern world, that would seem like pedophaelia but that was the context and custom of that time. I really hope you reply cos am really curious to read your answer.
Wow I understand your frustration Dina, they should've been more clearer. And sharing a bed with two strangers you don't even know????? That's horrible! Good luck Dina, hope all goes well x
Lol yeah it kind of defeats the purpose of modesty? But blah I'd like to see what it's like - good luck with the competition, you'll be awesome as usual :)
Hope everything goes well for you... Goodness me no sid it is actually a bit unfair.. I felt a bit upset watching u wanted to come and give u a bit fat hug girl don't worry dine u can do it..
Why would they make you SHARE a BED with two STRANGERS? Seriously not cool. And the fact that you can't see Sid!!!! I completely understand your frustration, and you seem so uncomfortable but also seem to be trying to enjoy the experience for what it is. Hope the rest of it is smoother! x
Wow, why would they style your hijab for you? And pick out the clothes you wear? Shouldn't you be able to express your individuality? yikes... I'm glad you stuck it out and hopefully you learn a lot inshallah
Im sure i would feel strange in that situation too but Dina is coming across as really arrogant...maybe it's just her feeling nervous that's coming across that way
i thought that you pregnant but its PAGEANT i dont know whats the meaning anywhy i like your personality and iam sure you can do it :) love from Egypt ^^
I think it s totally understandable, the whole situation seems to be slightly weird, especially for a muslim girl, pageants are strange to begin with...

Dina you're adorable! Good luck!! I hope it goes well for you.
I just wanted to hug you!

very true
***** well of course but knowing prayer is different than reading the entire Quran in Arabic. Its admirable, but difficult if you don't speak Arabic.
Aww love your videos too chelsey and your beautiful baby mashaAllah xxx
Nawal Begum thanks so much :)

Aw you seem really uncomfortable and out of your comfort zone! I don't blame you cause I would too 😕
Why do you show your hair at the front? You never wore it like that before what changed?
she had struggled with hijab, she said it in a video,,,,,,
cato cass do you by any chance know which video she spoke about it?
Shes been always wearing hijab like that. Ive watched her vlogs since day one and thats how its always been.
No I remember as well her old videos photos etc she used to cover it. If she just pulled it forward abit she it won't change her signature look.
Maybe because of the blonde hair it's more noticeable these days.

Lol rain is a good sign, but seriously three complete strangers sharing one bed? Good luck Dina, go get 'em girl !
I think the participants expectations may have been raised a little too high. I'm curious -how did you end up being involved in making a documentary? Did a producer approach you, or did you pitch the idea to someone?
hahahaha!! OMG! I could literally feel you hating them doing your hijab at 8:28, just try to have fun with it, i actually understand the fact that you're not very much into the whole thing, but try to get the best out of it! good luck to you Dina ^_^
