- Today’s feature is an artist that had great potential in the mid 2010s, and was on his way to seeing that potential through by the end of the decade. From 2014-2019 Logic released 5 albums, 3 of which went platinum, one gold, and 2 were number one albums in the country. A start to a rap career every rapper wishes could be their fate, in an industry moving so fast at the time you can literally be here today gone tomorrow. Logic was interesting because you could tell he was a true student of hip hop, quick to pay his respects to the ones that came before him, and whether you liked him or not, the fact was there were no other rapper like him at the time. Logic wasn’t your traditional rapper, but his lane in the rap game was being paved through his work ethic, his consistency, and the recognition he received so early in his career, nominated for 2 grammy awards in 2018 for song of the year and best music video for his song “1-800-273-8255" featuring Alessia Cara & Khalid. He was signed to the iconic Def Jam, was a certified platinum selling artist, and received some of the highest praise from the entertainment industry, yet it all wasn’t enough to keep Logic on course and confident he belonged. He’d leave Def Jam and embark on his independent journey and by 2023, be a far cry from the spot he once held as he transitions to a space that potential may be lost forever. Logic definitely had a lane of his own in the mid to late 2010s he could've dominated. Not a huge fan, but he did have skill and the work ethic.

I think his number 1 stunt was breaking the first rule of the internet: He read the comments.
That got him super self conscious and wouldn't stop talking about it and people got bored with it and making an issue with something that really wasn't.
I have a saying. Any trolling, dispose of it anyway you can. Not everybody is going to like you. Don't cater to any fanbase that doesn't belong to you. This is where failure sets in. When you try to get a bigger fanbase, you begin to alienate the ones that brought you there. Stay in your lane and drive. If he would have did that, he would have been fine. Even the greats are hated. It's a part of being an artist and life in general
Logic is interesting cause people either really like him or don’t at all. Dude was always putting out new music tho. made a bunch of money, got 3 platinum albums in the internet age, got out his record deal and dipped so idk if I would say he had stunted growth

Been a heavy listener of Bobby since The Incredible True Story. Had the honor of talking to him, a down to earth guy and genuine person. But I agree with these points mainly with the third one. If Logic took his time with the albums especially with Everybody, not only he would have had a solid three album run but also he would’ve possibly would’ve been in that conversation with Cole, Drake and Kendrick.

Why I said that is when he dropped Under Pressure (his best album) and The Incredible True Story which was a solid follow up, Logic was definitely on his A game during that time period. Everybody could have been more impactful if he tightened up the track list for the concept of that album. You get rid of those albums he was dropping after Everybody and have No Pressure, Vinyl Days & College Park arrive after that, his discography would have been way more polished and better.

😂😂😂 bro i love the effort on the vidjas but damn. To say Logic's growth was "stunted" is insane. He got bigger than what he should have been especially as a backpack rapping lyricist, especially in an era of soundcloud rappers generating a lot of clicks and views.

Logic is a living legend and was the last missing piece to the Hip Hop Puzzle. All of his albums have substance, a powerful message, beaitiful production, and showed progression. His growth wasnt stunted. He was just born in the wrong time period, same as Joey Badass, Joyner Lucas, and Cordae.

I honestly feel Logic is one of goats of this generation. So many great albums man.
If you take away majority of those projects he released between Everybody and Vinyl Days, he arguably would have been high up in the Big 3 convo. Under Pressure & The Incredible True Story are prime examples. Logic should have dominated with his third album but he got too distracted
He got skills. The one song that I actually liked from him was the song that he did with Joyner Lucas! I think that him retiring when he did hindered him from continuing on the path of selling platinum records. When he returned his momentum hasn't been the same since. Whatever he gets into other than music may his path be productive and successful. Best of luck to him!
I remember listening to No Pressure and thought that was a great album to ride out on. That was his biggest mistake. Coming back. He should have never came back. The fans moved on. That's why I always liked Nas. He never had to say or do that nonsense. Ever since Jay said he was retiring and then came back, everybody want to do it.

His mainstream push came at the wrong time. During the mumble rap soundcloud,raunchy rap and drill era. If he came out prior to both era's. He would've had a better run and a larger fanbase.

Taking nothing away from his success and what he's accomplished. He always got by on emulating Cole/Drake/Kendrick/DOOM and then dumbed his lyrics way down which were never super impressive to begin with. He made rap music for kids that were into videogames and Rick & Morty not hardcore gangsta stuff. Plus criticism from people 35 and up is only because they came up in the late 80's and 90's where everyone had their own style and could rap for the most part. He has his fans and made his bread and you can't hate on that tho
