As a student I’ve used photography for the past years to really take a rest from the stress coming from studying, it’s become a passion of mine to an extent that I’ll hopefully have a company on the side of my work in the future. 1st things first : lowepro, great selection, great prices, and available asf second hand. 2nd : might prefer a messenger bag if you dont already have a carrying clip because its just faster to get your camera and lenses out while stood up without needing to set it on anything. 3rd : carry your food in a DIFFERENT BAG because 1 spill would mean hell for your gear.

Hi James, greetings from Switzerland :-) I just bought a Shimoda X30 (wasnt shure if 30 or 50...) but didnt had time to test it out yet, bit burned out due to my workload. Anyway, yea keepers, so many times i thought "amazing picture" just to realize ... i had camera shake or motion blure in there... Thats why i follow the "Snapshot" rule as often... when i arrive my engineer mind snaps directly to what drew me to that place and i take the shot. Yea, a skilled photographer like you would take many better composition but often, that snapshot turns into my keeper just because i fucked up elsewhere. And if not, its just a file on my drive. As for a bag, if your random luck of the draw picks me, choose the next guy above me please :-) I have 4 Bags now, one (peak design everyday) was a bit... well i didnt knew what i wanted and the bag is good but not for my hobby area. And also two others from lowepro, one i use daily and one getting replaced with the X30. - Im actually thinking of gifting one away, to a friend that is a videographer, but got into photography trough me (we do sometimes photo hikes together) and he shure could use one of mine bags. So if that is a positive bag, your give away gave me the idea to give away a bag myself :)

This is not very comforting... But I've got a kid... 12months old now, he still never sleeps through the night... Piece of advice.... Just use any opportunity to sleep. Thats what i do. And i dedicate one day to making my weekly video. Ps: a bag would be nice and used... But i am in china 😂😂😂

I went around a lot already, but didnt quite feel save to go to the really cool locations nearby ( i live very nearby the bavarian alps). i saved almost 2 years for my camera, the saving rate as a student isnt high at all :D A nice backpack i can rely on would open so many new doors. I'm starting my journey with landscape photography, since January I'm buying my equipment, and now I'm looking to make some type of bag (cuz I can't afford the price ro buy a full bag) that I can use to carry my camera equipment when out in the woods doing multi day hikes and filming. The money I had become a Canon SL2 with the lens kit and I also managed to buy a Canon 10-18mm lens, and a also, entry level shotgun mic. No money left, but after all the research I'm glad with this kit. Almost everyday I try to get out of the house to do a short hike and make some photos, but none of my backpacks is helping in this process, so I guess that is no way besides trying to get a backpack made for this task. For shure the backpack will appear a lot in my RUclips videos documenting my outdoor journey and career. My project called "Minha Vida Outdoor" (something like "my outdoor life" started in 2015, when I give the first steps into the hiking world (have everything documented in video and photos), been riding MTB since 12yo, so the outdoors has always been a part of my life. Now I have 1TB of hiking, climbing and mountain biking videos to edit and the ones I'm filming theses days. Oh, almost forgot. I live in Brazil, but I can figure out to pay the taxes. Hi James, a great topic and suggestions. A camera bag, yes I would really like one. At the moment I take two camera on my walk, one Nikon DSLR and Nikomat 1970 model. The DSLR is hanging across shoulder Lucky camera strap (Deluxe 45 padded camera strap) and the Nikomat hanging on the other shoulder on single strap. Filter and 35mm film in a pocket. It would be interesting to hear if you shoot film, and if so, what scanning advice would you give. Cheers, Peder

Ah newborn related sleep deprivation the joys the sheer joys. Don't worry, it gets better. Just wait till he's about 3 and he's, "helping daddy clean his lenses" as he runs your shiny new 24mm f1.8 under the tap. Now, camera bags.... I have two So I'm NOT going to say "I'd like a camera bag because...etc" Instead I'm going to suggest seeing if there's a local school, or youth organisation, which has a photography club who could make use of two very fine bags for their equipment. I'm sure some cash strapped after school or youth club which has a photography group would love those bags
I would like a camera bag. (seriously, I would) The Mindshift seems like the perfect bag! I am retiring soon and plan to do photography in the mountains and woodlands of the USA. This bag appears to be the perfect size (not too big/not too small). My Z7 would feel quite at home in it. As for being a new parent: Although the lack of sleep can be challenging, it is oh so worth it! I was blessed with two daughters and they both have become such loving and caring young adults. The memories that I have of their childhood are something that I will forever cherish! One piece of advice that I would have for you: Enjoy every second! Capture as much photo and video footage of their childhood and don't ever become lazy with doing so! You will forever be thankful that you did once you become an empty-nester. You're in for some excellent years and experiences, so take it all in, CAPTURE IT, and enjoy! Oh, and good tips in this video! Definitely agree that working a scene by capturing different vantage points is the way to go. I am trying to take more time with my photography (and try not to come home with 200+ images within an hour) and give more thought into my compositions. I am looking for a bag (instead of my shoulder bag) and a better backpack for my photo outings. Retirement is less than a year away!

James I need a camera bag to haul two Olympus bodies digital and two analog. Plus a medium format Mamiya. One Pentax MX and all the lenses therefore. In other words hide my cameras from my wife who thinks I should sell the lot before I die. I’m 72, so that could happen any day now (not really)…problem being I live in the USA. Hello! "I would like a camera bag" I would really like to have a camera backpack to store my gear, unfortunately I don't have the financial capacity to even think about buying a good camera backpack. At the moment I just have a normal backpack and the equipment stored in small sponge bags, which is not ideal for the equipment. I'm a beginner with a lot of desire to explore even further the world of photography.

Hi James (if that’s spelt right 🤣) “I would love a bag” because I started photography last year in lock down and I’m really loving it, and it’s changed the way I look at everything around me, I got a Nikon D3500 starter kit with all the cheaper gadgets you think your going to use, (including the bag), but i would really like to start to start building up and replacing the cheaper gear with better things, and what better way could I start, than with one of your bags. Good luck with your little man, it’s all so worth it in the end, the changes you see are incredible, but write down anything that makes you laugh, I wish I had when mine was young, so much happens you tend to forget. I Have my eyes on a lowepro tactics for quite a while. I just cannot justify spending that much for a hobby, so I'm always pushing it back and make do with whatever backpack I have. Might have to investigate that handy clip you showed, looks like something I'd really use a lot. But - no bag for me please. There are folks out there that need one more than I do. Congratulations to you and your family! I remember doing similar dumb things as you did. Toothpaste on a hairbrush was a very special moment. It got way better after about 8 to 10 weeks, though. Enjoy every moment.

I would like a camera bag. Just started really getting into camera photography, on a purely amateur hobby thing, and now have a decent camera. A lumix S1. But I've found out how heavy it is to carry around and don't have a decent sturdy bag to comfortably carry it and lenses safely. Winning one would help me to be able to explore more as I think I could more comfortably carry the weight of the equipment. Keep up with these brilliantly informative videos that are strangely addictive. I'm really learning a lot.

I gave up all my photography gear when my daughter was born to buy pram, car seat etc. She’s now 10 and the nights do again consist of sleep 🛌😂 (hang in there) I’m now gradually getting gear to re ignite my love for photography and the great outdoors!

1st things first : lowepro, great selection, great prices, and available asf second hand.
2nd : might prefer a messenger bag if you dont already have a carrying clip because its just faster to get your camera and lenses out while stood up without needing to set it on anything.
3rd : carry your food in a DIFFERENT BAG because 1 spill would mean hell for your gear.

I just bought a Shimoda X30 (wasnt shure if 30 or 50...) but didnt had time to test it out yet, bit burned out due to my workload. Anyway, yea keepers, so many times i thought "amazing picture" just to realize ... i had camera shake or motion blure in there... Thats why i follow the "Snapshot" rule as often... when i arrive my engineer mind snaps directly to what drew me to that place and i take the shot. Yea, a skilled photographer like you would take many better composition but often, that snapshot turns into my keeper just because i fucked up elsewhere. And if not, its just a file on my drive.
As for a bag, if your random luck of the draw picks me, choose the next guy above me please :-) I have 4 Bags now, one (peak design everyday) was a bit... well i didnt knew what i wanted and the bag is good but not for my hobby area. And also two others from lowepro, one i use daily and one getting replaced with the X30. - Im actually thinking of gifting one away, to a friend that is a videographer, but got into photography trough me (we do sometimes photo hikes together) and he shure could use one of mine bags.
So if that is a positive bag, your give away gave me the idea to give away a bag myself :)

This is not very comforting... But I've got a kid... 12months old now, he still never sleeps through the night... Piece of advice.... Just use any opportunity to sleep. Thats what i do. And i dedicate one day to making my weekly video.

I just got into Photography by purchasing my very own camera about 3 months ago. I went around a lot already, but didnt quite feel save to go to the really cool locations nearby ( i live very nearby the bavarian alps). i saved almost 2 years for my camera, the saving rate as a student isnt high at all :D A nice backpack i can rely on would open so many new doors. I'm starting my journey with landscape photography, since January I'm buying my equipment, and now I'm looking to make some type of bag (cuz I can't afford the price ro buy a full bag) that I can use to carry my camera equipment when out in the woods doing multi day hikes and filming. The money I had become a Canon SL2 with the lens kit and I also managed to buy a Canon 10-18mm lens, and a also, entry level shotgun mic. No money left, but after all the research I'm glad with this kit.
Almost everyday I try to get out of the house to do a short hike and make some photos, but none of my backpacks is helping in this process, so I guess that is no way besides trying to get a backpack made for this task.
For shure the backpack will appear a lot in my RUclips videos documenting my outdoor journey and career. My project called "Minha Vida Outdoor" (something like "my outdoor life" started in 2015, when I give the first steps into the hiking world (have everything documented in video and photos), been riding MTB since 12yo, so the outdoors has always been a part of my life. Now I have 1TB of hiking, climbing and mountain biking videos to edit and the ones I'm filming theses days.
Oh, almost forgot. I live in Brazil, but I can figure out to pay the taxes.

Hi James, a great topic and suggestions. A camera bag, yes I would really like one. At the moment I take two camera on my walk, one Nikon DSLR and Nikomat 1970 model. The DSLR is hanging across shoulder Lucky camera strap (Deluxe 45 padded camera strap) and the Nikomat hanging on the other shoulder on single strap. Filter and 35mm film in a pocket.
It would be interesting to hear if you shoot film, and if so, what scanning advice would you give.

I have a Peak Design Capture Clip still I never use it. I don't find it comfortable to have a camera body with a 24-70 f2.8 hanging on my shoulder.
I could definitely use a camera bag. I just picked up my first DSLR last month. Canon Rebel SL3. Absolutely loving it.

Ah newborn related sleep deprivation the joys the sheer joys. Don't worry, it gets better. Just wait till he's about 3 and he's, "helping daddy clean his lenses" as he runs your shiny new 24mm f1.8 under the tap. Now, camera bags.... I have two So I'm NOT going to say "I'd like a camera bag because...etc" Instead I'm going to suggest seeing if there's a local school, or youth organisation, which has a photography club who could make use of two very fine bags for their equipment. I'm sure some cash strapped after school or youth club which has a photography group would love those bags

The Mindshift seems like the perfect bag! I am retiring soon and plan to do photography in the mountains and woodlands of the USA. This bag appears to be the perfect size (not too big/not too small). My Z7 would feel quite at home in it.
As for being a new parent: Although the lack of sleep can be challenging, it is oh so worth it! I was blessed with two daughters and they both have become such loving and caring young adults. The memories that I have of their childhood are something that I will forever cherish! One piece of advice that I would have for you: Enjoy every second! Capture as much photo and video footage of their childhood and don't ever become lazy with doing so! You will forever be thankful that you did once you become an empty-nester. You're in for some excellent years and experiences, so take it all in, CAPTURE IT, and enjoy!
Oh, and good tips in this video! Definitely agree that working a scene by capturing different vantage points is the way to go. I am trying to take more time with my photography (and try not to come home with 200+ images within an hour) and give more thought into my compositions. I am looking for a bag (instead of my shoulder bag) and a better backpack for my photo outings. Retirement is less than a year away!

James I need a camera bag to haul two Olympus bodies digital and two analog. Plus a medium format Mamiya. One Pentax MX and all the lenses therefore. In other words hide my cameras from my wife who thinks I should sell the lot before I die. I’m 72, so that could happen any day now (not really)…problem being I live in the USA. So, a local may be a better choice. That’s ok. I’ll build my own.

I would really like to have a camera backpack to store my gear, unfortunately I don't have the financial capacity to even think about buying a good camera backpack. At the moment I just have a normal backpack and the equipment stored in small sponge bags, which is not ideal for the equipment. “I would love a bag” because I started photography last year in lock down and I’m really loving it, and it’s changed the way I look at everything around me, I got a Nikon D3500 starter kit with all the cheaper gadgets you think your going to use, (including the bag), but i would really like to start to start building up and replacing the cheaper gear with better things, and what better way could I start, than with one of your bags.
Good luck with your little man, it’s all so worth it in the end, the changes you see are incredible, but write down anything that makes you laugh, I wish I had when mine was young, so much happens you tend to forget.

I Have my eyes on a lowepro tactics for quite a while. I just cannot justify spending that much for a hobby, so I'm always pushing it back and make do with whatever backpack I have. Might have to investigate that handy clip you showed, looks like something I'd really use a lot. But - no bag for me please. There are folks out there that need one more than I do.
Congratulations to you and your family! I remember doing similar dumb things as you did. Toothpaste on a hairbrush was a very special moment. It got way better after about 8 to 10 weeks, though. Enjoy every moment.

Just started really getting into camera photography, on a purely amateur hobby thing, and now have a decent camera. A lumix S1.
But I've found out how heavy it is to carry around and don't have a decent sturdy bag to comfortably carry it and lenses safely.
Winning one would help me to be able to explore more as I think I could more comfortably carry the weight of the equipment.
