This video nicely compliments OtterMTB’s X2 home-repair video. It’s interesting seeing pro tools being used. That vacuum machine must cost a fortune, but over time it will pay off for centers with enough shock maintenance & repair volume.
I'll let you know in a few weeks. My 2022 Norco Sight VLT C1 has about 1100kms and maybe 60-70 hours of use and the rear shock needs to be rebuilt. Shock goes into the shop next week and we'll see where this goes. My wife's C2 has the cheaper version of this shock and it's still fine. IMO, the Fox Float X2 is a piece of crap installed on my bike which otherwise is mostly high-end components.
Since he doesn’t mention it the noise you hear in an x2 that has aerated damper fluid sounds like stepping in wet mud with a soak shoe. It’s a sloshing sucking sound, like if you stepped in a creek or a body of water and your shoe was full of water and you stepped that sloshing sucking sound. Idk why he didn’t at the very least replace the ifp oring since it had already failed. Might as well fully rebuild the shock. Fox has issued a recall on all x2 shocks 2021 and newer if they have the aeration issue. They will replace the shock with a brand new 2024 x2 for free. I just sent one in for a customer who was riding a yeti ebike that was a year old. He’s getting a brand new shock for free which is pretty awesome.
Sounds good. Did your customer have a receipt for it or for the bike? My X2 has the squishy noise, but unfortunately I don't have the receipt for it, it was another guy who ordered it online.
@danielturcan4685 nope, just needs to be a 2021 or newer x2 shock. Not the coil one (dhx2) the air one. Take it to a shop and they can contact fox and get the warranty process going. If the shop won't help you, that's a bad shop. Any legit bike shop can send it in to fox.
@@bobsaget3841 Are you in the US? I'm in EU, tried at a local bike service, authorized by FOX and Shimano, but they told me they can open a warranty claim only while the bike is still in warrant period, mine being out of it they said they can only repair it if I pay for it. I guess I will try with another service, but I don't have any hope. Do you have any link about the recall? Could not find anything on the internet.
Adjusting high speed rebound won't change low speed rebound, your suspension techs should be more familiar with the product if offering this kind of service.
Just tell the truth a lot of x2 shock have a cavitation issues. It s a fox design failure, you can t fix it... You just have to change the shock and avoid to buy an other x2... All suspension service center know that
the 2024 x2 has made some major improvements to the reliability of the shock, I got one for free to replace my 2021 model as there is a volantary recall from fox

More of this! Love the procedurals.
More to come!
For the price of a rebuild service, I want all the seals replaced anyways plus the IFP nitrogen fill/service.............
Kinda used car dealer fix there ehh
The Fox X2 2021-2023 should be sent into Fox to get a 2024. They will replace your shock out of warranty. The 2024 internals are completely different.

Glad to hear it!

Sorry but this is not a full rebuilt! You have done half the job! Body and reservoir has to come out and adjuster as well.

This is cool and everything, but given the cost of the bike, the amount of time and labor spent…just throw a new X2 on there damnit 😎👍
A new X2? Don't do that. It's garbage :)
