The drum riff on ‘flying free’ is chilling

LOVE LOVE LOVE how the London production feels so alive again!! Alexia and Lucy are incredible and refreshing, both knocking it out of the park, and love how the Orchestra is allowed to mess around more, it keeps it fresh now that they're not so tight on keeping it to the score. I believe they also recently updated their lighting and it looks SO GOOD. SO happy with the changes they made recently after last year, which was kind of a mess
Just wish they'd clean up the pre-flight in terms of line flow. Hate how they're keeping that "IT'S MEEEE" 2 measures behind when it was intended to be sung originally, and how with that they cued the lift-off on "So if you care to find me", instead of "MEEEE", and obviously Alexia still has (and always had) trouble finding a nice flow for that bit due to being instructed to sing "IT'S MEEEE" so late (that's what it sounds like at least)

I disagree with your last paragraph. I always think that a long it's me just doesn't flow as well. I also think it's not necessarily a case of Alexia not finding a nice flow it's that the orchestra has sped up too much since the London production opened, however Alexia and Lucy are a great duo. 💚

@@dearoldshiz Well the thing is, Alexia leaves a very big gap between Glinda's "Let go of me!!" and her "It's me". She's always done this on purpose presumably to hit the short "IT'S MEEE" the crew/MD/whoever's in charge asks for (In this run at least, it used to be sung on the correct intended placement in the song), but the gap creates a very awkward silence, and is not a case of the London orchestra going too fast, which is a common myth. In fact, when you play it side-by-side to this recent Broadway recording (ruclips.net/video/eTxC7O8QVfc/видео.html), London is just slightly slower than Broadway.
Nonetheless Alexia and Lucy are incredible, and Alexia's rendition of Elphaba has significantly raised the bar for the production

@@dearoldshiz Just wish London would let go of the strict "It's meee" placement requirement, just let them do it when it feels natural

I kinda agree, the its me sounds awkward for me personally, a little too short and no specific beat it comes in on. I will say I like this a lot better than that gap she used to have in between the "Elphie!" And the its me

@@wickedfan496 I mean I do see your point, but you've kind of just proven mine the west end orchestra feels faster than Broadway, and when compared to when Alexia was Elphaba the first time round but I think it's also a case of the choreography has changed. Elphaba doesn't actually start rising now until the line "so if you care to find me" instead of the second it's me so she has more time to get set up and everything. I always enjoy some light-hearted debate though! 💚
