HUGE thank you to my roommates and to folks in The Lounge for cheering me on with this project. There's LOTS of talented people whose work has inspired me to create this. It is my homage to both the game and the community it has created. I hope you enjoy it!

Love that you spared a frame for Zagreus watching the sun rise. One of my favorite moments in the game. We take it for granted, but he lived his whole life to that point without the sun.
Honestly, it was one of the frames I was looking forward the most to drawing! The first time you make it to the surface and see that sunrise is magical
Then after meeting his mother he dies and pops back up in the Underworld due to being bound to that realm being half-dead himself.
ughhh the fact that Persephone gets to see her son grown and ALIVE only to have to witness him dying moments later ;-;

This went HARD and I love it. The realization in Hades eyes when his son defeated him. I also personally liked where the line "I wanna feel PRIDE and SHAME" Pride was Poseidon and Shame being Zeus. Chefs kiss~

I love how this animatic perfectly encapsulates Zagreus' character. Yeah, he's a badass who keeps trying against odds that are essentially impossible, but he's also an absolute sweetheart. He views Nyx like a second mother, he gets upset upon hearing Dusa got fired, and he tries his best to stay on good terms with the people who have to fight him to get in his way like Meg. Despite his desperate attempts to escape, he doesn't harbor any ill will towards anyone in the House of Hades save for his father, and even then he's somewhat passive about it. As fun as the memes are, it's nice to see this side of Zagreus get highlighted.

This is my second or third time watching this in just a few days because I can’t stop coming back to it. It’s such a beautiful tribute to the story and Zagreus as a character, you really captured his charm and determination as well as some of the game’s humor. Literal chills every time.

If men don't cry then I'm still a brat cus WOW. I completely loved the synchronicity between the music and the characters, everything fit together so, so well. The "love and pain" with Than and Meg, Persephone's letter giving him strength, the way he dies right in the final boss (his father) and still doesn't give up, the development, the colors- I still crying.
*Hands you tissues* Zagreus perseveres and that's honestly one of his greatest characteristics. Thank you for watching!! 🥹

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! And so detailed!! All the gods helping him (matching with the lyrics too), and ALL the shots of everyone Zag encountered and helped and fought... makes me emotional!! This is incredible! The way you matched up the gods with the lyrics in the chorus, the nods to the support characters... I actually laughed out loud when Zag got got by the trap in Tartarus (the amount of times those have taken me out when I play with trap damage up is unforgivable). The whole animatic really conveys the emotion of both the song and the game’s story. Great work!

I LOVE the way you ordered the gods to perfectly fit with the lyrics in the first chorus:
*"Love and Pain":* Aphrodite and Ares - There's the obvious meaning, goddess of love and god of war, but can also work with Aphrodite representing the pain of love and Ares representing the love of pain.
*"Pride and Shame":* Poseidon and Zeus - Can work as pride over cool fish uncle and shame over creepy lightning uncle, but also, since they are both scumbags, could also represent pride over being the nephew of two important gods, and shame over their actions and who they are as people.
*"Don't wanna take my time/waste one line":* Hermes and Artemis - Hermes as the messenger god is always on the move, never taking his time, and Artemis as a hunter always lives in the moment, refusing to waste time lazing on mount olympus like some other gods **Cough** Zeus **Cough**
*"Wanna live better days, never look back and say":* Dionysus and Demeter - Dionysus as the god of wine and revelry is always trying to live better days and live without regrets, whilst Demeter is plagued by regrets over Persephone, longing for the better days when they were together as mother and daughter.
In conclusion, this is an amazing animatic, I love the choices you made, and I'm sorry for writing a boring media studies essay under it. :)
No need to apologize!! This is a wonderful analysis of the lyrics. I hadn't thought about the significance of taking the whole line "love and pain" as it applies to both gods and it's brilliant!! And exactly! Both Poseidon and Zeus, in all their grandeur, have done shameful things. Zeus gets the "shame" line in particular because his questionable actions play an active role in Zagreus' existence (both in myth and in the game). It's honestly surprising how well the lyrics worked for the game in general, haha. Thank you for your comment!! 🫶

I love the way you drew his Olympus-empowered attacks! And all the depictions of moments from the game that felt fresh and new but also really familiar. Idk this made me FEEL THINGS. It felt like a hug, or surprise snail mail from a good friend. Exciting and cozy all at once. Is that weird to say? Idk I guess I don't care. Good job

This is so amazing!! I didn't expect this to make me feel so emotional... I got chills seeing all the gods teaching Zagreus and fighting alongside him and I love the way you synced up the lyrics to match with the gods. I was shocked to see how holistic this was! So much of the game got covered and it left me feeling so emotional getting to see all of these snapshots and all the characters, especially that sequence of Zagreus meeting up with his allies like Than and Sisyphus! The sequence of Zagreus dying and then respawning in the House of Hades and meeting everyone again is sooo fun too. I really love that part of the song and the scenes you chose to put there feel so hype! I could point out all the details I loved in this thing, but then I'd be describing literally every single frame of this video lol Fantastic job, this looks like a huge labor of love and it really really shows :D
There's so much cool stuff in this game and it was fun figuring out a way to fit in as much as I could. Like the interactions in the House! It's such a nice thing to include in between runs 😌 It was a labor of love indeed🥹💙 Thank you for your comment! 🫶

THIS IS FRIKIN GOOD, THE FADE TO COLOR AT THE END OH MY GOD, I APOLOGIZE FOR THE PERSON IM ABOUT TO BE FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS
I've rewatched this so much... my fave part has to be the part with meg and the part with theseus, as the posing/composition is SO good there! Not to mention all the lyrical matchups.
I really liked how the story of Hades was about all these immortal and untouchable beings being emotionally exposed and forced to work through all their issues as a result of never dying permanently (including the shades) and it really helped that Zag was always such an emotionally honest character. And this really reflected that! It's like, the video is just as honest as he is, it just hits the core of it all so well for me!
I also like that Zagreus' honesty is also presented in a complex way. He does his best to help anyone who needs it, though he does rush into things (like reuniting Orpheus and Eurydice). Ultimately, it is that same honesty that helps all the characters work through those issues, as you mention, or at least begin the process.
I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT'S SO LOVELY OUGH the parts matching the characters it is so so so well put and very thought out good job!!! ❤❤❤

This needs to be a full animation, it's WAY too good! The story, the cinematography, it's telling such a passionate story and follows rules without being super obvious like the rule of threes where the protagonist will always fail two times and succeed on the third. Zag in this dies twice, once to a trap and the other time to Hades before finally escaping the underworld. This is just *chefs kiss* beautiful.
A full animation would've been great (but so so time consuming haha). I didn't know that had a name tbh, the more you know! and thank you! 🫶

This is amaaazing oh my god, I love the art and the choice of frames with lyrics was perfect. Something about the gods each appearing and being there to physically help or speak to him just is *chefs kiss* to me.
All of the frames matching with the lyrics are so pleasing to see. Love and Pain for Meg and Thanatos, Don't want to take my time when Hermes shows up, Dodging bullets with your broken heart with Athena's protection against the projectiles/I don't fear you now when blocking the mage's projectiles, the shades of Achilles and Pratrocalus (I definitely butchered the spelling) for don't want to look back. All of this is so damn good.
I am so relieved to hear the lyric match ups make sense 🥹 I spend a good chunk of the planning process working those out and worried if I was making sense or grasping at straws 😅 (and lmao I have butchered his name so many times)

OHHH MY GOD OH MY GOD THIS IS ART THIS IS ARTTTT THIS IS SO GOOD I CANNOT EVEN. I am not exaggerating when I say I almost cried from the overwhelming feeling of emotion this gave me. ZEUS BEING THERE FOR THE "and shame" LYRIC WAS PERFECT like haha y e s shameful being. I also love love love the size differences especially like with Chaos?? And Demeter being the most distant of all the gods to Zagreus, and the little details like Zagreus being beaten up when he's visiting Patroclus and Achilles, AND JUST EVERYTHING THIS IS AMAZING
Taking Zeus' boons and dissing him at the same time is the way to go imo 😎 I am happy those details are getting noticed 🥹

THIS IS AMAZINGGG I love how you incorporated every character at least once! The colors and compositions are so good too, I really love the shot where Zagreus is standing between the prongs of Hades' spear. You're also so goated for including the programs you used, I always look at other art channels and they never list them LOL

Oh that's a brilliant transition at the end. Really gives an impact! I also love how you drew everyone! These are an insane amount of details because these characters are intricately designed but you did them all so beautifully, really felt like a movie. Ah I love this game. First time I felt like a game really rewarded perseverance. Also this song slaps! Really fits!
