Great review Mali. I recently reviewed the 7.5mm (f/2.8) crop sensor version of the 7Artisans fisheye and, like you, I was really impressed. I've used it quite a bit as a super wide and I'm looking forward to doing some more creative stuff with it (when it cools down a bit here and I can get to some different locations). You got some really nice images with it, that last one with the tree is a stunner and I also like that one with the fence, I think it works really well

Colour fringing, vignetting, soft on the edges etc, etc. But who cares "Lets Create". I use a Lensbaby velvet and I get a feeling from reviews of 7Artisans that they too are the enemy of perfection. It could send you mad or you could embrace it, I get a feeling it will be the latter for you Mali. Have fun with it.

    • @arpitkumargahlot

Unfortunately not available for my Nikon D700 F mount. I’ve looked at the smaller mirrorless cameras, including the Z series, the bodies are a bit small for my hands. Plus I don’t relish the thought of completely rebuilding my camera kit for a camera body that doesn’t feel right to me…
On another note Mali I did watch your recent “debate” on sky replacement. Your argument for traditional photography is the winner in my mind. AI scares me, what’s next just sitting around the house “creating” images that never existed. At any rate that debate got you another subscriber.

You done a good revue Mali with pictures to back it up! that's what they wanted and you delivered!...I dont like super wide angles because of the distortion in the images, so I have never bought one! and I dont suppose I ever will, but people cant complain about the price of this one!

I have the 7Artisans 7.5mm fisheye for APS-C and enjoy it as much as you do!
I love experimenting with this lens, and when you keep the horizon in the centre you have a really wide field of view.
However the APS-C version does have a bit of flare when shooting into the sun.

I've been wanting a fisheye for a couple of years but other gear has always come first. At this price and looking at the images you've taken so far then I'm sold. Can't find a link on your Amazon page, is there a link to support the channel or do I go through the 7artisans website. It's in stock on their website. Great review.

  • @davidellinsworth22

Nice one mate. I've been wanting a fisheye lens for quite a while, but could never prioritize it over other gear I've needed. I had a go of my mate's 8mm Samyang fisheye on my old D3200 and it was so much fun, an absolute belter of a lens. I'd always thought for my Z6 I'd get the Samyang 12mm f/2.8 full frame F mount lens but you've convinced me (and I trust your judgement) that this 7 Artisans lens could be a contender. If you want to have a lot of fun with this lens take it to the seaside and get it down low and get it as close to the advancing surfline as you dare and fire off a burst. f/16 and whack the ISO up of necessary.... my mate used to do that with his Samyang and it makes fascinating images. Love the images you showed at the end. Cheers

I can confirm the build quality of those lenses. I have the Canon M mount 2.8 25mm version but not had the chance to play with it much but what I have taken, I have no complaints. I was looking at the Canon R or EOS mount versions too but as you point out, they are heavy, but well built bits of kit :-)
