      @@JetsonHacks By the way, I have a question. How do you connect motors to the Jetson? I know the connection from the jetson isn't enough to power it but do you use some sort of esc or switch connected to the battery but controlled by the jetson.

    • @JetsonHacks
      @JetsonHacks  5 лет назад

      @@Jake.filmz_ People usually use a ESC or some type of external motor controller board. On this project, we use an open source ESC called a VESC. Here's the install: ruclips.net/video/viR6KFbIM48/видео.html

    You can easily get better suspension by picking up and inexpensive heavier shock fluid and spring kit. The spacers only help so much and usually are used if you add a slightly larger batter not a whole tower of electronics weighing more than the original vehicle.

    • @JetsonHacks
      @JetsonHacks  7 лет назад

      A few months after this video, they switched over to the Traxxas Slash Platinum which adds many aluminum parts to the suspension. The stock springs are replaced with beefier components. For a video of that build, looky here: ruclips.net/video/6CSjDv7r30w/видео.html

    This platform looks amazing also that Velcro tape is an excellent idea. I wonder if a vision camera may replace the Lidar. My antennas don’t make that special noise either

    Hello, the JETSON and ZED look interesting, I wish if i had them. Just a remark, instead of using a router (extra mass), you can just use an USB WIFI Adapter with Hostapd to turn it (adapter) into access points. (sorry for my english)

    • @JetsonHacks
      @JetsonHacks  7 лет назад

      An issue MIT encountered when running the robot in their underground tunnels is that sometimes they lost connectivity. The router provides more signal. In later versions, they will remove the router. Thanks for watching!

    Again a useful video. Thanks. Do you have an alternative for the battery? This battery pack is not for sale in Europe. The car has it's own power of 7.2 volt but the jetson and other components need some power too. Can I use a high res web cam instead of the ZED Camera? Please continue these video's.

    • @JetsonHacks
      @JetsonHacks  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words. Currently I don't have a battery alternative. Looking at different options, but nothing definitive yet. There are many alternatives for the 'Perception Sled' where all the sensors and computing come together. For example: ruclips.net/video/HHdqdwMvcN8/видео.html which is based on this car. It comes down to how you intend to use the vehicle,. I you want to explore 'real world' stereo camera vision processing, you'll of course need a stereo camera rig. If you want to explore deep learning, a single webcam may be sufficient (though in the real world people tend to use at least three cameras: left, right and middle). You may be more interested in combining GPS and vision, and so on. The important part here is that you have a hardware vehicle platform to start the exploration. Thanks for watching!

    i realize your channel is all about supporting the jetson, but I’m curious if you have any interest in arduino, the esp8266 ,the stm32f or raspberry pi as well..so much weight on the car.. that has to be a lot of stress not only on the suspention, but the motor and transmission as well. still quite interesting..i try to remember to let the advertisments run completely. I dont know if the like button does anything positive for you or not…anyway..you’re looking good brother..peace out

      Hi Rick,
      Thanks for the support with the ads, hitting the like button helps a lot too. There are enough resources on the web for the Arduino that I don't feel lending my voice would be meaningful. The DonkeyCar project uses a Raspberry Pi for their car, it's a great platform to start and inexpensive too. This project is more for people who are learning what it means to process everything on board the robot using ROS. Thanks for watching!

      I want to thank you for taking the time to respond to me. I really enjoy your approach to building using off the shelf materials. I was just curious about you using the atmega 328 or pi in personal projects. You should consider an intro video telling the hows and whys you got into this platform and where you hope to take it. This has to keep you very busy. I would be nice to know about the video and sound equipment you are using also. I ran professional sound and video for 10 years so thats always been a point of interest. Anyway you’re looking good brother..peace out.

      We're about to reach the 4 year mark for the channel, and should be a little over a million views by then. Maybe it's time to make a little retrospective. The video is all pretty simple, just a Canon T7i, T5i, and a hardware box for recording the screencasts. On the audio, it's an old Zoom H4 I used to use to record jams and a cheap lapel mike I plug into the camera. It might be worth a video eventually after the channel grows a bit.

    Why did you need router on top??
    Jetson can use wifi

    • @JetsonHacks
      @JetsonHacks  6 лет назад +1

      It depends on the environment. On the new RACECARs, there are no additional routers. Only earlier versions (such as the one shown here) they were racing through underground tunnels which have weak signals. They used the routers as signal boosters. Thank you for watching!
