It’s just crazy that they go through all the work and don’t host any support races there to make it more worth the investment
Football starts beginning of March and I believe USC plays spring games there
Truck series was born here in California. You'd think they would throw them out there too at the very least.
Exactly, they could go repave a local track and host crash fest there!!!!
@@rileymerritt8898 They could easily do what they are doing at Wilkesboro and have a weekend lead up. Being an exhibition makes it harder, but hell have the trucks start their season there. They used to start in January at Walt Disney speedway
@@cheechpicicci3881 Crashfest! Yeah that's pretty much what that series has become
It's incredible how asphalt makes this stadium look tiny.
It is tiny . Field was bigger when the running track was there .
Be nice to have the sprints run that track.
Or super modified!
I'll say one thing. Not a bad seat in the house.
Not a good race…..
All of this, for one race! Amazing!
$1 million dollars
@@JEK that is not bad, for some reason I was thinking it would probably be more than that! The first commercial break alone will easily cover the cost of that! I hope they do it every year!
That's seems rather cheap considering I did construction for years in Michigan.
I seen people say it was a million dollars in last year's video. Amazing prices don't rise in California like everywhere else.
@@Living_EDventures the only thing I can think is they may have locked in a contract for x number of years or something in order for it to be that low. That is a low price for all of that equipment, not to mention the demo afterwards.
Great video,
it would be nice to see them take it out after the race for reference
swing by on Tuesday... :)
I'd rather see the clash back in Florida on a real racetrack!.
They could have added some banking, probably be a total of 3 passes for the whole event
I can’t wait!…See you again this year! 🏁🏆
They should seal the Chilli Bowl and race there. About as sensible as this!!
Unbelievable at the amount of money they throw away just for one race when there are plenty of empty racetracks around. Next thing you know they'll be racing on cruise ships and call it the Nascar Cruise 400 on the Atlantic.
Boomer
@@GlizzyBeans Boomer? Lol not even close
@@Living_EDventures no you said boomer stuff, just how it sounded
I totally agree, it seems like Nascar is getting a little desperate for new viewers.
@bakedbeans Take a look around there are plenty of empty tracks that used to host Nascar. That's easy to find on RUclips. No age needed to see that.
This event is about as exciting as watching the grass grow bring the clash back to Daytona
Short track racing is where NASCAR got it's start. It'd be cool to see them take this to smaller local venues. It could save a lot of local weekly race tracks.
@@coreyhorton8478 Our local .5 mile short track at Irwindale Speedway 15 minutes away from Downtown LA would make a better track for this race but they don’t have the capacity for a legit Nascar event. Even Fontana is gonna be given a huge capacity reduction after this year so Nascar in So Cal is looking pretty grim as a new fan 😭
Nah pave Dodgers Stadium next year and make the track a little bit bigger 😂😂😂
@@Piggy-0145 that sucks. Do you have short tracks with decent weekly races at least? I'm in Nashville, and there are a handful of asphalt and dirt tracks around. I grew up going to a quarter mile high banked bullring north of town that would have awesome car counts back in the day, but they've been struggling hard the last decade or so. It doesn't have near the infrastructure for something like this, but to see nationally sanctioned tours come through would be huge.
I agree, I went to the race, it was a boring ass race. I don’t think they should go back to Daytona though. They go to Daytona too much. They need to go to different tracks around the world, try new things each year.
Fantastic...
Thanks John.
Can those asphalt trucks do my street after they are done?
Makes you realize how massive Nascar speedways really are.
Good video. Appreciate the effort.
Interesting to see the work. Nascar says this costs “significantly more” than the budgeted $1mil
Amazing really
They should kook for a kart racing event leading up or right after, That would be a great track,,, or maybe a 1/4 midget.
Bandos and legends could run it
So cool!
🙌🏾🙌🏾
Damn, so much work for only 2 days of qualifying and races!
The really need to take this concept on the road.
Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas all hold over 100,000 people.
NASCAR should make a new spec car just for this race that is 1/2 scale cup cars with midget engines. Give them boys some room to race.
Roman chariot races would be more appropriate in this venue . DO IT ! 👍🏿
I look forward to watching something else when this race is on.
😂
You know it's the only sport that actually requires having balls and not just playing with them!!! You must be a NBA fan?
@The "PREZ" Oh no don't get me wrong I like watching nascar, I'm just not a fan of the Clash race being held in that lame ass coliseum, I'd rather it be at daytona like it always has been.
How about a NASCAR race for something totally different? The 1970 Firecracker 400 is on RUclips. Great stuff.
Yeah NASCAR's gotten woke
Good the safety barriers are out. If I don't see a last lap pass like the hail Mellon, I want my money back!
Hopefully since they know the durability of the cars they start punting each other like they should’ve been doing last year
I wonder what they do with all the asphalt after the race is over.
Recycled, re-used elsewhere. (A lot of potholes in LA could be fixed)
Asphalt is 100% recyclable
I like the race but I wish they let other series race there so it's not such a waste.
Can they repurpose that surface after the race for other future roads etc?
Yes the asphalt will be re-used.
@@JEKMI 9th by u
Great job by the workers! Too bad it’s a go kart race.
?
It would be a race if they used go-carts! entertaining too.
Unbelievable
I really hope they're making some kind of profit out of this. I can't imagine the cost of all this work just for essentially one week of racing and then to tear it all down again. Genius Nascar.
knowing LA ticket prices. They are making a fair profit
They wouldn't do it if they wouldn't make a profit. Between ticket prices, tv and media deals, sponsorships and who knows what else they are still coming out way ahead I bet.
Replay of last year’s video.
I have been a NASCAR fan for over 50 years, and this race is without a doubt the most stupidest and assine thing NASCAR has ever come up with. Put the clash back where it belongs - Daytona
Agreed. Plus the fact they have to drive cross country to do so now instead of staying in FL
Nah…. Not the dumbest most assine thing Nascar has done. Building all those 1.5 mile ovals then letting (????) Kentucky get a just the track was built. Leaving Road America after 2 events to play the packing lots of the Chi. Juliet Raceway is still easily race able.
Wait till they go all electric and then let us know how you feel.
Very true this event sucks
@@RH421939 Then Why are they doing it again
How do they get all the asphalt back off the turf?
I’ll show you.
How long did it take to pave? As small as the area is I would think it wouldn't take more than 2 to 3 days to complete.
We have had a lot of rain so paving was delayed but it started Jan 6th finished about the 12th. Track lanes were painted last week.
2 days of paving, 1 day to grind it out
Next they should do a clash at the Nassau Coliseum
That place is way to small. Even for 1 car. I doubt it.
I just cannot believe this is cost effective.
They need to bring it back to Daytona
there were reasons they stopped going
@@jabber1990 You aware they still race at Daytona? HELLO
Hell no Daytona was boring for a special exhibition race. This track is a banger of a short track with this new car and its gear ratios.
I used to be a huge Nascar fan for years. It has changed so much in such a rather short time compared to how it was forever that now it's like a game of Duck Duck Goose. I just can't seem to get into the the intermission like segment stuff.
@@StruggleGaming Plenty of short track to go to if that is what you want without wasting money on this go cart track in a crap state.
All American Asphalt
Why not just go to Bowman Gray if you want to do something like this?
The CGI "clash at the coliseum" 0:17 I see you
They should have at least made it match the curve and perspective of the structure it's fake-installed on.
This is just another reason why I don't watch NASCAR any longer. I used to be so excited for the clash at Daytona. Now I don't invest the time watching any race , I just skim over the highlights on U-tube if anything interesting happens.
This has to be the world's smallest motor racetrack, right?
1/4 mile tracks aren’t uncommon for dirt and some asphalt, a lot of the nascar guys grew up racing this size track.
The shape is unique tho
I would hate to get all that equipment inside the stadium. I imagine there's definitely some " maneuvering" to do.
Hi John
Think they need to race the trucks Xfinity and the cup cars all in one weekend
Wonder what the All-Star at resurrected North Wilksboro will be like.....
Definitely better than the clash
Is that all new asphalt or is that asphalt from last year
How many tons of asphalt ? And anyone know the reason with them flip up tri axels ? Some kind of whacked California DOT ref or something ? ✌🏼
I could probably do a rough estimate if I pulled some dimensions from the web but without knowing the asphalt mix design/compaction specs, it'd be a guess at best. As for the "flip up tri axles" as you called them, that's just a relatively standard tandem axle dump truck with a tag axle. The tag axle can be folded down when loaded up to help distribute the weight across a wider area. These kind of trucks are common when working in areas with soft subgrades or in situations like this with relatively fresh asphalt.
Chuy and the boys get the job DONE!
Most profit in racing comes from sponsorships and tv rights deals.
This is the stupidest idea NASCAR has ever come up with
Did Nascar record how they repaved Road America's four miles only to lose it the cup cars to lose it to Chicago.
Wonder if the people getting paid to work on it find it just as stupid as the rest of us
A big WHY? Doesn't make sense to me.
How much does NASCAR spend doing this ?😱🤯
about $1 million
@@JEK does that include taking it down?
I have one question? Who really wants to see this? I've been watching NASCAR for at least 40 years and for the life of me I can't figure out who this race is suppose to get excited?
This is what happens when you try to please your sponsors and not your fans.
You said it. To all the corporate execs in TV, Marketing, and yes - NASCAR, this seems like their gold mine. To battle-scarred NASCAR race fans of old, watching this goofy race is like watching security video of a Walmart parking lot.
What a Waste In Materials And Fuel Just To Tear It Away after One Race
Unbelievable with all the potholes in Indiana
This just seems like a publicity stunt, and a huge waste of time and money. There are race tracks not currently in use that should
be brought back .
1 million dollars just for 1 short race.
All that for a race that sucks. Just another one of nascar's epic fails.
Just why are they wasting it where they can do more repairs on other tracks what a joke
If there's anything California's good at, it's wasting money...
True, but this isn't a ca thing, it's a nascar thing.
I can’t believe they pave this for one quick race then rip it all out. Talk about a waste.
The asphalt is recycled
As a former fan of the sport, ideas like this truly show that Nascar is a thing of the past. The young generation will not be drawn to worthless ideas. Bury the sport next to icon Dale E.
To call this a race track is an insult to professional racing. There is nothing about this event that even resembles a real race. It's more like a go-cart slider track. NASCAR should be ashamed to pervert the sport with an event like this...
Let’s get to a real track like come on
For one dam race…🤦
Waste of time Daytona is where the Clash should have stayed.
i knew there was a reason i stopped watching nascar.
This stadium was built to host football and track and field events, not for racing, and to spend all this money to convert a football field and a running track is just dumb, not to mention the monetary expense to transport the cars and crews, this is just dumb
Running tracks been gone for many years now
Safety barriers really, this race is going 2 be so boring tv rating probably going 2 suck
All this so bubba wallace can crash over the fence? Hahaha
Another degradable move from the muffins..keep it coming
Dont like it. Like short track racing but not this.
would be pissed if my tax dollars went to this.
Busch Crash at the Crashiseum. Real fans hateeeee this race now! Gimmick, gimmick gimmick! All a huge money wasting gimmick. GO BACK TO DAYTONA
This thing is embarrassing.
Nascar is a joke. They have gotten too "pretty' for their own good. Too much PC
get you're money back
What a waste of money for this joke of a race. It would be cheaper to use a Walmart parking lot.
This might be worse than Dover's tiny track. What a waste.
dover isnt tiny
@@VSNVanny Dover is small compared to most NASCAR tracks. It is only a 1 mile track. Only Martinsville, Richmond, North Wilksboro & Bristol are smaller tracks. That's out of 32 NASCAR tracks.
What's so bad about Dover?
Besides Dover hasn't been an asphalt in decades. It's an concrete track.
@@originalgameronline3457 😂 it’s obvious you haven’t been to any races! Dover isn’t tiny……and you can’t compare it to a short track?
Such waste of time and money and plus it's boring
Waste of money the racing isn't good for cars
waste of time and money.
For a state that hates fossil fuel cars they don't have a problem with it when there is money at stake!!!!!!!!!!!
Do nascar vehicles run on alcohol ?
@@michaelgibney3772 I don't know anything about the race cars, but I can tell you that every vehicle you seen in the video runs on diesel. The asphalt plant those hundreds of trucks came from is a couple of hours in heavy stop and go traffic, that much I do know.
F*** la
I Agree they should have it somewhere else. Don't get me wrong it was a good idea but I don't think it worked out too good.
