2023 Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum Highlights | NASCAR on FOX

- The Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum brought the action as the NASCAR Cup Series started the season with a bang! Bubba Wallace was assertive in the beginning of the race as he led 39 of the 150 laps, but Martin Truex Jr. made it count where it mattered most as he led 25 laps of the race and was able to hold off Austin Dillon to win the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum. The Clash featured 16 cautions, in comparison to five in last year's race.

being someone that used to race, i like the idea of them racing short tracks. the complete lack of banking makes for a boring race though. flat tracks like that always end up single file

Rockingham is doing some major upgrades to get a Cup race. I hope it works out & they get to go back. NASCAR needs to go back to marketing to their natural fan base. It was more fun before they became so focused on attracting new fans. In fact, they would probably start drawing in far more new fans if they focused on tradition & pleasing their natural fan base. The sport was at its peak in the 1990's & started to lose ground after NASCAR started trying to attract the luxury box crowd & people who had no real interest in NASCAR.

They need to get the cautions under control. I was there in person and lot of people were leaving with 40 laps to go after the 20th caution came out

It was a cool experiment but I don't think they should come back here next season. The race sucked and it looked like there might have been 15k people there tops. Fans in LA don't even show up for NFL I hardly think NASCAR is going to get a foothold there.
I think Rockingham could be an interesting idea for an exhibition race. It was just repaved. Although it would probably be a tad chilly this time of year. Maybe the new Atlanta, take the plates off? I dunno I just don't see the point of doing this race again.
Rockingham used to be the second race of the season for years, so obviously NASCAR has no problem with the weather there in February.

I think you can look for the 8 and 3 to be strong at Daytona too. This might be Kyle's best shot at a 500. Austin ain't a greedy teammate like Denny.

I think it's KBs best chance too but not cause of his teammate but because of the sheer number of Chevys on track that will work with him. With Toyota at the end of races he was always left hung out to dry (Hamlin was too but I'll admit Denny is a better superspeedway racer)

@@vaselineguy yeah nah. I don't like the guy but he's a veteran in Cup by now. The only thing he might benefit is with setup work from Kyle, but Kyle's not gonna teach him how to drive or anything.

Nobody has a team at the Coliseum anymore. I think they should use that structure build a race track on the outside of the coliseum and reverse the seating to be in the center of the track which would be on the outside of the Coliseum and then use the center as the stadium as concessions and have it set up with a true experience.
They should use the inner grandstands as a race track and the football field as the infield.

im sorry , but this is a sick excuse of a race, and i was born and raised LA. First of all, only half the seats had people in them at most, 2nd, the cars can barely drive in that tight environment, way too many cautions. in a city with about 12 MILLION people, you would think they could draw a crowd. What a waste of the teams valuable resources.

Recap: cautions every five mins and no passing unless you ram the guy in front of you or get lucky to skate by while other drivers were ramming into each other. You can clearly see that the drivers don't even like it but have to go with it so nascar doesn't punish them. What an absolute joke.

No. He sat in his car seething with anger for quite awhile. It was so funny, they kept going back to him, still sitting there!
He still can't control his anger issues! After he was moved by Dillon, He waited for him like he was Cole Trickle and tried to knock the right front off Dillons car.
@@ericsargent2799 Its wild. What Bubba did yesterday, happens pretty frequently at Bowman Grey stadium. And alot of short tracks around the country on occasion too. Obviously quite a few NASCAR drivers have retaliated under yellow over the years too. Harvick retaliated against Gilliland in this same exact race! ...And People cheer!!!
When Bubba does it... He's got anger issues, he's a giant baby, doesn't belong in a race car etc etc... You can't cheer for one and condemn the other. Ya'll need to make up your minds lol.

It was an alright race although I don’t like the cautions during this race.
I think it's time to go back to throwing them in a dirt late model once a year again on some random local race track where the roots fans and real racing is

Can we all agree that this isn’t good racing? This gimmick is absolutely terrible, never make this a points race.
It is okay when they are racing, but the cautions almost took away from it.
This needs to be some sort of probiwk event where they race go carts with limited cautions.
Nascar please ignore the haters in these comments I attended this race and it was the best race out of the dozens I’ve attended, please make this a points race on the schedule the action and atmosphere is unbeatable.

This is why I quit watching Nascar races, used to be a whole races and one winner. I don't like the stage races and playoffs,right along with racing on tracks like this.

It used to be at Daytona but they moved it here, possibly to introduce some variety. No tracks were removed
None, they used to do the clash at Daytona, but there’s already three cup events that week and most drivers and teams prefer less super speedway racing given the wreck likelyhood. This race wouldn’t prematurely ruin a car, so it’s a win win!
This used to be part of Speed Weeks at Daytona prior to the 500. The actual Daytona 500 will still be the first race of the season in a couple weeks.

Nascar is CLEARLY having an identity crisis! I mean, I'm all for hip hop in the right context, but a Nascar race??? Also this sport was most popular in the late 90s/early 00s, yet they have done everything possible to take away anything that resembles the golden years.(Speed, culture, vibrant paint schemes(wrap 🤮), car design, rules, tracks, t.v packages, announcers, ect, ect, ect...) And I'm not saying they need to bring back the damned rebel flag, but they need to do something. The Next Gen car would've been a great opportunity, and they dropped the ball completely! Also, classic Nascar games are what got me into the sport as a child(Nr2003, Thunder 04, Dirt To Daytona) and look at the garbage kids that are stuck with.... Nascar Heat?? 21 Ignition? 🤣 We need Iracing to put out a Nascar game for console!

Yeah, it made more sense at Daytona. Not sure how many new fans they're attracting by putting it in the Colleseum but I seriously doubt it's converting anyone. NASCAR would be killing it if they focused on their natural fan base instead of trying to get the attention of the luxury box crowd who will never be diehard fans. When NASCAR decided they were better than their fan base, it really started to lose everything that made it so much fun to be at races.
This is not a race. Bumper cars are more entertaining.

This… is not where the clash should be held. It’s a great concept but just doesn’t produce the racing this venerable event deserves.
I really hope they have solved the safety issues these cars have had, I’d rather not see any more drivers with career ending concussions.

Nascar is destroying itself, they race in LA at this boring track but we can't have the Brickyard 400, 2 normal Bristol races without freaking dirt, 2 Pocono races which is a fantastic track and unique and I could go on. How about 3 races at Daytona the ACTUAL track, not the road course. The schedule is messed up enough than you throw in the non exciting points system where everyone gets into the "Playoffs"🤣🤣 my God I feel bad for the youth who has never got to see a real champion.
