    A skrug is a monster that can't get no love from me. A skrug is a creature hanging out the passenger side of his scavenged ride, trying to shoot at me.

    about the Astrafade thing you guys discussed, that could be a Harbinger equal to a feat { Delayed reaction } meaning your character can perhaps push the fade effect till the end of their turn or allow it to go off immediately once per rest, meaning a character who opts to take this feat can perhaps gain an understanding of whats about to happen and say he's going to go nuclear ... he uses this feat to hold back the explosion and charges headlong into the enemy before letting himself go pop

    As for the neutral color of Astra, I immediately thought of the thing from Donnie Darko where a transparent, amorphous tentacle kind of thing appears; when Tim's character Yester freed herself from the grapple, I imagined that the Donnie Darko effect happened as though the amorphous stuff replicated Yester's body and expanded until it exploded, freeing Yester from the creature, allowing her to cut the tentacle as Tim said and crawl away

    Hey guys! Super excited to hopefully get my hands on a playtest copy of this and provide you that all important market feedback. It's shaping up to be a pretty awesome setting and I'm loving the new mechanics you are introducing.

    I would imagine the healing sphereoids can read a characters vitals and are programed to automatically heal them if they drop when orbiting them.

    Can we recommend - when races come into play, the Cosmonik would be such an unreal character type (inspired from Peter Hamilton's Night's Dawn). These are beings of unspecified race-origin which have modified their bodies to survive in hard vacuum in order to perform specific tasks/jobs. They may have metal carapaces and have traded mech limbs in for their biological originals through surgery. They eschew many biological identifiers / functions (i.e. some might not have genders anymore, they may not eat/enjoy food or other biological activities leading to some interesting role play). Food for thought. Can't wait to play!

    Hey I had a blast watching this so Thank-you!
    For the Astra effects table I kept thinking about varying tiers of astra tables like 1-3 Astra over is Table 1. 4-6 is Table 2. 7-9 Table 3 and Table 4 is 10+ over Astra and you simply roll and unmodified D20 for the table depending on your astra intake. So going over on 1 and then rolling a 100 on a chart doesn't end with just death. But working your way up to a higher astra table might have more dire effects with the 1st table being minor effects. Just food for thought. Excited to see where this goes, best of luck! I'll be rooting from the sidelines!

    for the Astra fade roll table it would be cool if it was a d100 but the effects go from 1 to 120 or something like that so the highest level effects can't happen right away only after you stack up the modifiers. Lastly, it would be awesome if the absolute highest roll with the highest modifier turns the character into a very dangerous Astra monster, so if a character is going nuts with Astra he could be a threat to the party or everyone it the galaxy. Keep up the great work!

    Well, now I want to run a campaign all about the arrival of the "Harbinger". It might be a good idea to just run ANYTHING first though.

    Hey guys, I don't know if I am too late for this is but there is a book called KOBOLD GUIDE TO MAGIC that could be a great inspiration if you are trying to figure out Astra. It seems like you guys have it mostly figured out though. I haven't read it but I can vouch for their GUIDE TO WORLDBUILDING that I got so much out of.

    Wow... Looks like this is going to be amazing! In relation to the Mancer class having the little orb things (apologies I forgot the name) in XCOM 2 there is the specialist class who has a little robot helper which is a similar idea I think, thought would mention as may be useful inspiration in coming up with more ideas for things Mancers can do :)

    Perhaps if I suggest a cumulative cost for using Astra, first time use of a spell 3 Astra, then 2nd time 5 Astra cost, third time use would cost 7 astra

    • @aFistfulofDice
      @aFistfulofDice  7 лет назад +1

      That seems very finicky to me. We're trying to keep it as simple as possible at this point, and having to remember how many times I've cost a specific spell seems tedious. I appreciate the feedback, though!

    I know this isn't a public input test yet and you've already stated that a number of things have changed as a direct result of the test. That doesn't stop my brain from running onto topics and thinking of things for you to consider. I will refrain from specific mechanical suggestions, but I do want to bring up thoughts I had. First, amazing intro for the characters, and I'm already trying to plan out a painting to show off what came into my mind. I would suggest an alternate form of currency. I realize for expedience that the D&D gold system is a good touch point for a play test. However, particularly for a scifi setting, I think the gold/silver/copper dynamic doesn't hold up as well, particularly given the usefulness of those metals in technology.
    As you consider the Astra tables, I think you could offer it as multiple options for the DM to choose their route, much like determining Ability Scores. Some may want to go the "exhaustion" route as it's easier to track for both the DM and the player. I like the direction the table was taking, but as you all mentioned more work will go into it. I would also consider dropping the hard Vancian magic edge for the spell/Astra connection. Again I'm refraining from a particular mechanical suggestion as much of this has probably already shifted. Again to pull the scifi elements into this a bit heavier, I would tie the tech and magical effects to that blur that line. All in all, I'm super excited to see this come along

      @aFistfulofDice  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks man! We appreciate the feedback. We will definitely be using a different system of currency, and will likely work on buying/selling/bartering be more of a focus.
      And astra will definitely be a constantly evolving system. We've already made some significant changes to the way it works.

    I don't know if you want suggestions and where to put them, so I'll just do it here.
    -The Flicker Astra (which you discussed at around the 1:50 mark) seems to mee quite similar to the Defensive Duelist Feat from 5e. Maybe this can help in balancing the astra.
    -Guns seem a bit underpowered actually. I did not catch which damage dice you assigned to what size of gun, but considering all the problems a gun can have, it does not feel like the huge damage difference you might have felt. Are there plans to integrate firearms into combat styles? I am thinking about keanu reaves in equilibrium or the classical Warhammer 40k sargeant that wields a Blade and a Gun in unison. Maybe you can parry or interrupt attacks using a gun bloodborne style. There are lots of interesting things a gun could allow a character to do that are diffrent from just dealing damage. Just a thought.
    -I really REALLY like the adhesion astra Barker used early in the playtest. I love the idea of a spell that has a general use and can be used in a combat situation. That is amazing.
    This looks like a really cool game, and I hope to get may hands on it down the line. Great Work Guys!
