Hope you are ready for a long drive day! The floods in Yellowstone changed our original plan, because roads from Bear Tooth Pass down into Yellowstone were still closed, so we decided to drive all the way through Yellowstone in a day and take a brand new way in - the East entrance of the park.
Here is a challenge for you (and one for ourselves as well): Don’t take the same route to your destination every time. We are creatures of habit, and it is easy and safe to go the way we have gone before, the way we know. This trip into Yellowstone reminded us that we miss out when we play it safe and don’t try something new!
The drive was beautiful, we found a true hidden gem and got a full tour and history lesson along the way, and we got quite a show from the wildlife in Yellowstone National Park.
Our change in plans and full day of driving got us to our first come, first serve campground after dark. Not the best timing, Nickersons! This is why you always need a backup!
Stay tuned for the next episode as we tour an incredible cave system in Wyoming! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!
Don’t wait to live your life, find your 🔆SOMEDAY🔆 now!

For many years I've watched 8-10 very popular RV travel channels a week. I now only subscribe to two channels. They are both made by people you would like to live next door to. Each provide excellent adventures to enjoy and are BY FAR superior in their video quality. These are The Wynns and Finding Our Someday. It's a lot of work but the effort is much appreciated. Great Job Nickerson family!

We are working on trying to find a better audio situation for in the truck. The best option will hopefully be having a new truck soon that will have better sound proofing. Our truck is 7 years old at this point and it is loud when we are on the highway. The girls do have great input on things and Lily has such a quick wit so we do want you to hear what they have to say as we travel! Thank you so much for joining us and taking the time to comment!

Daylight Savings time - twice a year. You change your AC filters, change the batteries in your smoke detector and CO detector. Once a year you clean out your dryer vent (if you have a W/D) Fire is your biggest threat in an RV. Protect yourself.

We were in Yellowstone at the end of Sept. 2017. We were blessed to see every animal except Moose. We actually came upon a wolf pack chasing an Elk herd. They split out and took down a young elk, right in front of us. When I say in front, I mean with. 400 lens on my camera :). There were 20 wolves. It was like being in a National Geographic moment. But, we went out every morning early and every evening and drive the roads for hours. That’s the way we always do Yellowstone. Then we crash in the afternoon, or see the geological sites. Not many animals other than the billions of Buffalo/Bison are out in midday. Loved hearing the Elk bugle. My dog about twisted her head off at the sound. 😂. Thanks for the video. Beautiful.

So amazing, and one of my most favorite, with RMNP a real close second. Been there several times…also in 2018 (20 years after the big burn - 1988) with my youngest daughter. Noticed many of the places stopped and took pictures…always like a trip down memory lane…except no RV, got hotel rooms for dad and 20 y/o daughter. Taking the same photos of continental divide, and the Lilly pads covering the entire ponds on the road side - anyway it’s beautiful. Y’all do a fantastic job, and love it. Just started heading out my self in 2020 310GK to see THE COUNTRY SIDE. YNP is some ofGod’s country,, pictures are hard to give real justice to the beauty God has put in front of us to see.

The scenic drives are incredibly informative Corey. You driving and doing a lot of the narrative with Jess working the cam and also commenting makes for what I think are truly professional videos. The cut ins from previous vids plus the editing style are what I think makes you pros. I had a 1 day, 2 nite stay yrs ago bc I was just passing thru going home from a Kalispel Mt bike rally and didn't have time to see much. You are always including things that are must sees where ever you travel. I have a multitude of questions for y'all but I think I will reserve those for a pm on your IG.

All of your videos are wonderful, and, so I started watching at 5:00 pm and I just had to go and check my cabin Air Filter. Not as easy to get to as the engine air filter, but the last service I had they said they changed both and I checked (yes I'm slightly OCD) and the engine air filter was filthy. So after just checking the Cabin air Filter I found it to be new and clean. Thank you for reminding me.

Absolutely love it when my home state of Co. And Wy. have what we refer to as "An Indian Summer" an extension of summer in other words which by no means we get every year it's a real treat. Whereas you get that warm 70s weather even in the mountains that last all the way to the end of September up to and into the 2nd week of October. Thanks for the beautiful scenery guys. I felt so sad for that elk calling for a mate that seemed to be nowhere to be found.Yeah I've heard the word bison. But we've always called them Buffalo where I come from! You really have to do some off the beaten path mountain hiking to see wolves usually that is. Another great vlog. Thank you so much for sharing. And as always safe and happy travels ✌️🥰 p.s. Buffalo bills Lodge and when he was talking about the menu. A nice thick buffalo steak omg it is the sweetest juiciest most tender steak you'll ever eat in your life. I'm not talking about if you go to a drive-through restaurant and they have Buffalo Burger on the menu yeah not the same thing 😂

Not boring even a little bit. This is real RV life and I’m always so incredibly curious about how others travel, how they make decisions as they make their way and what sights entice them to pull-over. I think I finally got the message re: not trying to cram too much into a short visit. I’m going west in the Spring for 2.5 weeks and my list of things to do/see really is impossibly long. I’ve been struggling to cull sights to make it easier. I think, since I have the list and a sense of where things are located, Im just gonna wing it. Stop where I want to as I want to and have time, given overnight locations. No matter what, it’ll be an awesome trip. Your encouragement makes me so excited I can hardly keep from jumping up and down!! 😁😁

These days I don't get to travel much, but when I do the only really limiting factor for me is how much time I have. I try hard to plan "circle" routes over "there and back again" routes, even tho retracing your route home from the opposite direction can be just as fun and interesting as the route out was. I also try to revisit favorite places as well as seek out new places. I've lived in the Great Pacific Northwest since 1976, have explored it extensively, and to this day still feel like I have barely scratched the surface of what this area offers. How anyone could become "bored" with exploring anywhere on our mothership Earth is beyond my ability to even begin to conceptualize...

My sister goes to Yellowstone twice in her life, and she sees one the second time. WTH? I love that you like to call the bison "buffalo". Yes! It's so much more fun to say. I say it "boofalo". I like to say it because an Argentinian exchange student who lived with neighbors was so excited to be in the US and see the "boofalos" she grew up watching in the John Wayne westerns. So for me, they are always boofalos!

Isn't that always the way! I'm at least glad that your sister got to see them! Maybe we will have our day SOMEDAY? 😂 And I love that you call them boofalos! That is a riot! Thank so much for watching and taking the time to comment! 🙏

Nice on Nichersons, here in New Zealand we have a similar place in Rotorua , called " Hells Gate " not as big as yellow stone but lots of boiling mud, and Sulphur smells, as you know we are a young country so have 2 active volcanos and lots of dormant ones

The key to Lamar Valley and Hayden Valleys in my experience is you have to be there at the right time (y'all are there at my absolute favorite time of year, early to mid September - elk rut time), and in the right place. A spotting scope and good binoculars is basically a necessity as well since so much of the action happens on the opposite side of the valley from the highway. We've had tremendous luck setting up on high ground at or near one of the pullouts a little before sunset and just glassing across the valleys. Look for the pullouts with people using tripods and spotting scopes, those folks are the ones who will clue you in on where the coolest stuff is (Grizzlies and Wolves), help you spot it, or share their scopes. On our trips, we relish the opportunity to let total strangers peer through our scopes to see the wildlife. The BEST way to finish out a Yellowstone day is with the other wildlife watchers calling out their spots to those around them. It's a wonderful display of ad hoc friendship where we've met people from the other side of the world and found a common language in the magic of watching Yellowstone's creatures. There's no guarantees that you'll see wolves, I've only seen them a couple times across half a dozen trips over my lifetime, but you're almost certain to see something awesome.

My filter wasn’t that bad,but next time take a piece of cardboard and slide it under the filter before you take it out. If a leaf falls into the blower I promise you it will drive you crazy and it’s not fun to get out. I usually take the box for the new filter and cut a piece to fit under the old one before I pull it out.

Now I try to run my go pro when going down the road. The wolf was as long as the Durango was wide. Awesome sight to see.

I do like Yellowstone although there are things I don't like about it. The distance between things to see is considerable compared to other national parks, plus the traffic is bad and parking is very limited. Last time I was there I stayed in a motorhome at the lake, we came in from Tetons and left through West Yellowstone but we did tour most of the park over nearly a week back in 96, we rented a car for the time we were there. Driving the motorhome everywhere was a bad option with how narrow a lot of the roads were back then although they were working on a new main road through the park so it might be better now but I doubt it is better everywhere.

So I have a 2020 Duramax, I change my fuel filter when I change my oil (every 5k) I change my cabin filter every 3 oil changes. With the amount of travel you do and how you depend on that truck you should just keep filters around. Love Yellowstone, we camped outside the park as well when we were there two summers ago. This summer were planning over a month trip to Olympic, Crater Lake, Redwood Ntl, Yosemite, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, any anything else we see on the way. This will be the longest trip for us so far. I would love to see you do a video on planning a long RV trip and what you need, how to stay and so on....

You should replace your cabin air filter every year. On a GM truck it on!h takes about 5 minutes to do it. Most vehicles it is easy and you can find a video on RUclips to help you. Getting the filters on Rock Auto can also save you a bunch of money. And while you are at it check and replace your windshield wipers, they probably need it.

I am from PA, in rut season at the Elk County Visitor Center; we got see a large herd of elk on a tour from the visitors center. We actually saw male elk fighting for access to the females and heard the bellowing. It was truly unbelievable. That is in Benezette, PA.

you were talking about the smoke you were dealing with It was coming from Salmon ID, It was the largest fire in the US It burned 130,000 acres. I live here in Northern Idaho. Sorry you couldn't make the trip over the bear tooth pass. Maybe next year. You wont regret it. But be prepared for climbing high altitudes and great scenery. It take you back into the park to Mammoth. Enjoy. Really enjoy your videos
