Good Insights =). I believe dirty mean to add an extra shot of coffee. So dirty Chai means to add a shot of espresso into chai latte(that does not comes with espresso).
I asked an old Italian Barista from Norton st Leichardt in the 80's the differences between FW & Latte and he told me that Latte is thicker than a FW because some of the froth is mixed in with the milk before adding it to the top. Maybe times have changed :)
This is such a good info. I only discovered Dirty Chai when I went to Sydney and i loved it. Even got myself that exact chai tea powder. lol didnt know cafe in sydney would use the same powder. It was so good!
As Australian Barista for over ten years I love this video! I love the Latte is actually a Flat White to the Karen customers, and here’s a few others to add: Extra Dirty Chai or Filthy Dirty Chai (Chai Powder, Chocolate Powder and Espresso with Latte Milk), Tumeric Latte (Tumeric Syrup or Powder mixed with Latte Milk), Beetroot Latte (Beetroot Syrup or Powder mixed with Latte Milk), Matcha Latte (Matcha Green Tea Powder mixed with Latte Milk) and an Irish Coffee (Latte with shot of Whisky) and Espresso Martini (Ice and espresso with Khalua and Vodka or Gin and shaken in cocktail shaker then strained in martini glass with chocolate powder and coffee bean garnish), and there’s also heaps of iced and hot batch brews, filtered coffees, cold drip, and V60 coffees that some pretentious people like haha! 🙂
nice video. Good explenation for learning to barista in Oz. Dirty Chai is the best! Dity is the espresso. Back home in Colorado, we have a Colfax dirty chai named after a street and that means four shots of espresso 😂
Nice video well explained especially for me bc I have no clue about coffee! Is there a coffee that can fill the contents of a small take away cup and just have like 10% of milk in it? no froth required. That is how I only enjoy coffee. What would you call that? or how would you order that?
Thank you :) You can order a long black with some milk in it. So the long black consist of 3/4 hot water and 2 shots of espresso and finished with a dash of milk :) hope it helps :)
Haha the most annoying thing about the coffee Magic is that every customer has a COMPLETELY different interpretation of what a Magic coffee is! I have some say it has hot water in it, some say only half fill up a piccolo, some say half fill up a latte glass, and others say only mark the espresso like a macchiato just with the restretto espresso! 🙂
Hi there! I constantly sit at my desk and watch your channel. That is, whenever I am taking a break from my work. I am crazy about coffee and I dream about starting a coffee shop. Watching you working is exciting and terrifying at the same time. Can I hack it? I really want to but...I have to start from somewhere. Right? By the way, I am a motion graphics designer. Never tried a latte art. Actually, I need to buy a small espresso maker with a steam wand. I have to do this...
Yes, you can practice your latte art at home. But, if you want to open a cafe, it's better if you work in a coffee shop for some period of time first. Trust me, you'll learn a lot about the business and improve a lot once you know what's going on behind the machine. Plus, you need to know other areas of the cafe like service, marketing and kitchen too before opening your own cafe. Best of luck :)
@@BaristaBeeJournal1 Thanks Bee. I didn't mention one key detail. I am 45! and the Cafe is my retirement plan. I am actually working towards an exit from employment ASAP! I think I should try to get into an internship program and if not possible, just dive into the business and learn. But I will start practicing at home with regard to the types of coffee drinks.
Flat white genuinely has no froth on top. It’s called flat white because it’s full of milk. :) many barista put little bit of froth on top so they can draw a latte art. 😊
Only person in RUclips who has explained the different types of coffee clearly.
Love how it was delivered so short yet with full of impact and information
Thank you :)

I'm going to Australia for a few years , and its the first video that make me clearly understanding. Thank you
Laughed so hard at the flat white/latte substitute. Heard it so many times while waiting for my magic (or 3/4 latte when I get the confused look).
🤣🤣🤣
Q
I would ask for a 3/4 restretto with frothed milk as a latte will not taste as good for the espresso shot my friend
You're the best, an amazing easy explanation of everything!!
Thank you so much 💓💓

Nice and informative vidz👏👏👏👍
🤤🤤🤤
I have the same coffee machine!! Can you do a tutorial PLEASE!!!!
Ps I love your channel!
i think its better to serve flat white with ristretto than standard espresso. but well thats just my personal preferences.
A Chai becomes a "dirty" Chai when the coffee is added :)

I’ve heard some cafes using double shots for an 8oz flat white, so it’s stronger than lattes which only got 1 shot espresso for same size. Is it true?
Hmhh, in most cafes that I've worked, every coffee has the same amount of coffee, 1 shot in 8oz coffee and 2 shots in 10oz coffee :)
Flat white should have less milk than a latte so it's stronger by definition...
Nice channel, big fan ❤️. Can u do a viedio how to do a michiato top top ?
