  • Planting the Advent Calendar Seeds from the Earthly Roots Podcast. Today we planted roma tomatoes in the veggie patch. The ground has warmed up a bit and we've had more sunshine so the summer plants are really starting to take kick off.

    I don’t know how you keep track of everything in your garden. All your little advent seeds are going to be so gorgeous when they all grow. Cadence put my Christmas tree up yesterday and Willoughby has just knocked it over for the first time. He thinks it’s just for him! Love

      Hahaha, rascal Willoughby!! How sweet that Cadence set up your Christmas tree for you. What a special treat that would have been for you!
      I can't wait to see the seeds starting to pop up. Hopefully the weather behaves and everything flourishes.
      Love ❤☺❤

    We have the lowest quality soil so I think we’re going to have to use beds or we’re going to get an aquaponic set up until we get a good abundance of compost

    • @5acrefarm
      @5acrefarm  Год назад +1

      Our soil here is SO bad! It’s like sand and is really high in iron. We bring compost in at the moment because we just don’t have enough of our own compost.
      We’ve done a few videos on ‘Green Manure’. We spread a whole lot of seed and then cover it in hay to try to fix the nitrogen, encourage microorganisms and to retain as much moisture as possible.
      That might be an idea that would help?!?
      We love watching your videos!! You’re doing a brilliant job!!

      @@5acrefarm awww thanks Kat! Yours are bloody amazing I’m learning so much!! That’s a great idea actually. I have three horses and sheep but they’re spread all over the shop so makes manure gathering hard lol

    morning... any tips on growing beets.. carrots can not grow them for some reason... used the bunning veg soil. mushroom compost and cheap manure blend... in raised beds... wasted a huge amount on seeds from companies that failed... would love to hear how you do it

      Hey Chistina!
      I'll plan a video on how we do it soon so you can see exactly what we do! We had a great success with both carrots and beets!
      Hopefully we can help and get you growing a heap of both!

      Hey Christina!! I’ve just done a video to answer your question as best as possible. The video is uploading now and will be ready in a few hours (our upload speed is incredibly slow here 🙄).
      I hope we can help you control the little pests! They can be very frustrating!
      Kat 😁
