My good friend owns a mechanic shop and he warned me of modern kia/hyundai. He put his two kids through university thanks to warrant work and a host of issues
I will NEVER understand how people can mistreat something that costs so much money. My car is a 2016 Scion with 58k, and the car still looks fantastic because I take care of it. Thanks for the tips man!
There used to be a term, "conspicuous consumerism" which translates as, "keeping up with the Jones's". In the 80's, the "young upwardly mobile" junior execs all raced out to buy their BMW's. They actually didn't plan on keeping them more than a year or so because they planned to trade them as soon as possible. Consider this to the younger mentality of expensive and flashy sneakers. I'm a baby boomer who grew out of poverty and had to make every penny last. Since then, I've always bought a vehicle with intentions of keeping it at least 10 years and/or 150K miles before thinking about replacing it.
My mom just traded her 2017 Santa Fe sport because it burned 2 Quarts every 1.5k miles. Only had 80k miles. It was ridiculous. She got a 2019 rav 4 with 17k miles. I’m happy she listened to me and got a Toyota.
Thanks for these videos. Especially for those of us not able to buy a brand new car from a dealership, and would preferably avoid paying for sky high prices on fixing an unreliable car found in a used car lot.
I bought a 2004 Chevy Impala brand new and have now owned it it for 19 years without any major issues , never any engine or transmission problems just regular maintenance and replacement parts like engine mounts, ball joints, radiator thermostat and battery pretty much. I drive it almost everyday and take it on long road trips
That's great to hear! I've been kinda ashamed of what I've heard about most of the models of cars & SUVs from American car makers(Trucks seem 2 be the exception, but i never been interested in those,as a petite woman that doesn't do hauling or rednecking,whatever)..I wish the American car co.were in the categories w/Toyotas & Hondas,as far as reliability, low maintenance problems & 250-300k engine life/longevity,but they haven't been up 2 par w/them 4 yrs....I have been wanting & wondering if I should even consider a Chevy Camero or Corvette. Mustangs are attractive, but I doubt I could ever get comfortable enuf to fully trust putting my $ down on any Fords (sorry 2 say).
I bought a 2016 Nissan rouge SL used. It had around 8000 when I bought it. I have had absolutely zero issues with it other then regular maintenance. The car has 185,000 miles and the serpentine belt just broke. Other then that I have not had to change one single part on the motor. The last vehicle I would buy right now is a cheaply built ford. They have the highest recalls of any vehicle at the moment.
I guess it's a draw of the luck. I have a 2009 rogue that I bought brand new. When it hit 100,000 miles in 2020 I had to have the transmission rebuilt. It had had all maintance done according to mileage since I bought it. Now, 2024 here comes the transmission again. Slipping. I don't wait for the 30,000 mile CVT fluid change. I did my CVT fluid change every other year. No where close in the 30,000 mileage change. I am going back to honda and Toyota. NO intentions on rebuilding the transmission again. Not coming out of toyota or honda anymore.
The best used car for me is Lexus for luxury, durability, reliability and comfort don’t look any further than a Lexus all day long. A poor man Royce Rolls😀
Im Still driving a all original 1988 Lincoln town car with 265,000 miles on it, it's been on the road for over 3 decades and ive still never been towed, the paint is still attached, and all it's had is regular fluid changes on the engine, transmission, and rear differential, brake pads and tires and ball joints, these days its like they are designed to fail and screw the owner...
I’m the original owner of a 2010 Nissan Sentra with shy of 140k miles with absolutely no issues, except changing the oil and break pads myself. Here is the catch about my car: Since I took it out of the Nissan dealership, are you ready for this? I NEVER took it back for any free or charged maintenance!! LOL! My mental disease is that I never trust any mechanics!! The only thing that I religiously have done in the last 13 years is paying for highest price fuel (VPower) by Shell gas stations.
Other than the transmissions they’re actually pretty good. The transmission failure rates are high but most of them still last somewhat long, so there’s lots still on the road.
We have our 2nd Fiat 500. It has 100K miles. We change the oil every 3K at the local Jeep dealer. So far, we had to replace two tail light bulbs, brakes, and tires. Not bad!
I bought a new Fiat 500 in 2011. I needed a clutch at 100,000 miles. The motor failed at 208,000 with the original struts and brakes still in the car. I had a new, used, engine put in then brakes and struts. Still driving it at 228,000. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive.
I bought my 2015 Murano in 2018. No problems yet. Regular oil changes and fluid changes. Of course, I don't drive a lot, that may have something to do with it
I have a 2015 Nissan Murano SL, and with regular maintenance I’ve had absolutely no problems. I am looking forward to the 2025 model, but in the meantime, extremely content with what I have now. Plus I have 65,000 miles on it.
just change the cvt fluid and dont drive like you have a sports car and you should be good, i have a camaro now but had zero issues with both my nissans
I own a 2017 Murano, purchased new in 2016. I had previously owned a 2007 Murano that I traded in for the 2017 model and it had been an excellent absolutely trouble free vehicle which is why I decided to stay with Nissan. The only issue I've had with the 2017 is front wheel bearings that needed replacement at around 70,000 miles, no doubt due in part to the rigours of our sub-standard road conditions. I've had the transmission oil changed at around 60,000 miles in 2023. I live in northern Canada along the coast and we have about 5 to 6 months of winter weather and heavily salted roads which are among probably some of the worst roads in the country. So in general, I have no significant problems or major issues with Nissan. I do run high test gas which is recommended for my vehicle and other than that just the regular oil, filter and standard maintenance items. The Murano is a pleasure to drive and has been completely reliable in all manner of extreme weather conditions which includes a lot of winter driving in hilly terrain where I live. And I'm not know to be easy on my vehicles, but I do pay attention to regular maintenance. I've had all my routine maintenance work done by my Nissan dealership where I've had excellent service. I've had none of the issues that this site is talking about. Maybe I'm just lucky so far, but it has me wondering what in the heck some drivers are doing, or not doing, to have so many problems. I also know several other owners who have Muranos and have not heard any complaint from any of them.
Never been able to buy a new car anyway. Our present car... probably the last one we can afford..is a 2004 Honda Edix..just cleared 208 000 km.....just usual running maintenance costs...2 litre engine that runs like a charm but a bit heavy on petrol at about 10litres/100 km.... NZ 🇳🇿
Yes I believe in if things are running well and you don’t owe anything to the bank, then that’s a true keeper. I have a vehicle too that’s heavy on fuel, but I don’t owe any payments so it’s easy to keep around
What make this so sad Mark, is our economy is starting to price millions out of new car purchases, so they are stuck flipping a coin on what out of warranty used car they can afford.
That’s on purpose. The world economic forum doesn’t want most to own cars- but - instead be stuck living in 15 minute cities. And Don’t even think for a single moment that “everyone” will “just” have an electric vehicle Not gonna happen Most will be on foot or bike or rental
I don't completely agree. I believe the consumer caused the increase prices in cars and the automobile companies ran away with it. People prefer SUVs and Trucks and naturally they will cost more than a car. Then people need the heated steering wheels, expensive infotainment systems which drive the cost of cars. Just a few years ago many companies offered a variety of cheap entry level vehicles but people stopped buying them so they are gone off the market. Today everyone wants an X5, Lexus RRH350 and Ford F150s. So if people want those vehicles or any thing close to it you will have to pay for it.
@@hahamasala Yes and the worse thing is that these consumer preferences ruined it for everyone else. I will need to replace my vehicle in a few years and I want a low prices car not an SUV in the lower 20k range. There pretty much very few options in this price range. I will have to pay 30k + for a vehicle.
Real story, had a 2004 Hyundai Elantra before, the transmission fell on the ground literally on my way home from work one day, luckily it was still under warranty and Hyundai paid for the repair, but I would not buy another one.
Thank you for making these videos. I've learned alot from them. Currently, I own a 2015 Chevy Malibu LS with 220,000 miles. Had a used transmission installed at 207,000 miles. Great car. Looking at buying a certified Toyota Highlander for my next purchase.
I bought a 2002 4runner with 270k and it's been cheaper to maintenance then my 2019 Subaru outback which at 130k time to go that CVT is the only thing that is making me get rid of it, I can only imagine catastrophic failure with the turbo versions with the 2.4L vs N/A 2.5L.
A testament to Toyota Quality: I am the original owner of a 2004 4Runner, 185K miles. No repairs at all, only maintenance of course, batteries, tires, brakes, and on second timing belt. 4.7 liter 4-8, interference engine Standard maintenance at 90K miles. I chose the V-8 because I tow a 3000 LB boat. It will fly up a steep hill in the Pacific NW towing the boat. Best decision I ever made buying this rig! No rattles, drives, and still feels like new!
When it comes to the BMW with valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets leaking, you don’t simply replace the gaskets. You have to replace the valve cover and oil filter housing because they are made of plastic and warp so resealing doesn’t work. BMW = Bring Mama’s Wallet!
I've never had the issues with Nissan that your stating neither has my friends we are going on 10 yrs daily use. I've been way more impressed with my Nissan and Mazda vehicles than my 2 new Chevy products. I want to buy state side but you get alot more luxuries and less issues buying Nissan & Mazda for me. I'm including feedback from friends & family vehicles over the yrs as well.
Also, the worst vehicles to buy used are the GMC Acadia, Dodge Journey, Mazda CX-7, Pontiac Grand Am, Ford Contour, Nissan Armada, Acura MDX, Saab 9-3 and so forth. Thank you very much and I wish all the mothers on this special day tomorrow. Happy Mother's Day!!!
@@davidprodigy5833 Modern Mazda's 2013 and up are pretty reliable prior to that they were affiliated with Ford so the reliability was worse including the CX-7.
And there you have it, the list of cars that the original owners knew enough to dump before the warranty was up. The question is not why to dump but when. It is also a good idea to check vehicle history when buying CPO or low mileage /one (responsible) owner cars to see what inherent gremlins have infected the vehicle. We bought a new 2007 Jaguar X-Type at such time from a Jaguar dealer and the electrical system suffered a complete failure at 14K miles. It was under warranty but we dumped that car on a trade-in while it was being repaired at Jaguar because this seemed to be a forecast of things to come. The trade was for a Lincoln T-Car, which was more reliable despite the same company ownership.
Thank you for great content. My 2015 Nissan Versa Note is faultless. Regular maintenance and every 30K miles the CVT fluid gets changed. With modern cars less is more in my opinion. No turbo charged engines, no paddle shift semi automatic transmissions, no sunroofs. I want a car that starts and moves everytime, not a premium paperweight.
Our 2013 Santa Fe gave us a lot of anxiety when the dealership said all our car needed was an engine flush and firmware update after alot of noises and tensioner replacements. They did extend the warranty by 20,000 miles which was good because the engine failed at 110000 and we got a replacement. We've had no other problems and we're gonna see how long we can keep it.
Totally agree on the Subaru. Complete engine replacement @ 78k miles, also oxygen sensors etc. failed.. later on Replaced fuel pump, transmission and other stuff I cant recall. Very nice vehicle to drive, when all is well, but the anxiety around potential failures is something else
I have never cared for Toyota. Idk what it is with them, but I just don't care for them. Now granted the only Toyota I've driven is a rental after an accident and that's what my insurance approved. I was happy to give it up when my car was repaired.
You should do the Hyundai Tucson. My wife and I have a 2016 and it's in the shop every 6 months for new catalytic converters. And always having to get oil changes every 1000 miles and the dealers don't care nor help.
I got a 2018 VW Jetta SE TSI Wolfsburg in February 2021 with almost 10K on it. Now 32K. Only thing I had to replace is tires last April for $435 total to pass inspection in Pennsylvania. It’s a Certified vehicle and in addition to my 35K warranty I bought a 100K warranty on it. It’s like a warranty with AAA services. I love it’s pickup on the highway merging, 38 mpg and hardly have to put foot on gas constantly as it’s aerodynamics keeps it going. Paid 14,900 for it used. Went car shopping before the pandemic officially ended so I got a deal.
Probably the worst car ever made.) I had the same car. When my wife brought it. It only had 34 thousand miles on it.. once it hit 50 thousand miles.. the transmission started to slip. We took it back to the dealership. They so called fix it… but it was very clunky once you go past 60 . Never again. We’re going back to Lexus.
@@harveyhankerson8359You got a defective transmission, that’s it. A margin of error exists anywhere. You are basing your entire stance on a manufacturer based on your emotions, no merit to the argument, no logic, no statistical backing, only a single bad experience that may very well have been found in other automakers and their suppliers.
Im driving a all original 1988 Lincoln town car with 265,000 miles on it, it's been on the road for over 3 decades and ive still never been towed, the paint is still attached, and all it's had is regular fluid changes on the engine, transmission, and rear differential, brake pads and tires and ball joints, these days its like they are designed to fail and screw the owner...
forget warranty they build this junk for one 8th of what you pay!! corporation thieves. i believe most of you are wealthy or brain dead !!! car that costs 40000 should be 23000 thd 50000 mi. warranty noooo cvt trannies!!!! true warranty noooo bull shit...
My 2017 Giulia has 65K miles and I've never had a problem in almost six years. Years ago I got into a big argument with a friend who swore the Alfa spec oil (that was hard to find five years ago) was "BS" because any oil of the proper weight would be fine. I said "if Alfa says use only this spec, that is the spec I will use, I don't care it costs twice as much as Supertech at Wal-Mart". I also had a 2012 Enclave for years that I gave to a young relative (still going strong at 160K miles) and when I got it my mechanic said "make sure you top off between oil changes, that GM 3.6 can stretch its chain due to low oil". He said 90% of the GM 3.6 we get in for stretched timing chain, the owner left oil in too long or didn't put enough in. So that's what I did and here it is at 160K purring like a kitty. I've learned that there are no unreliable cars, only unreliable owners.
Very true some people who laugh at this but when I was in college in the mid 90s 8 had an 86 Renault Alliance that I brought for 750 bucks. This is all I could afford however that car ran extremely well. I took very good care of with oil changes every 3k miles. I got a 160k miles off of that car!
Maintenance and how a person drives a vehicle definitely matter but there definitely are some poor, unreliable designs and sometimes parts and assembly have quality spills which lead to problems. I used to be an automotive reliability engineer.
Buddy works at a Jag/LR dealership in parts. There is a death fleet behind building. Can't get parts or can't fix them. They don't even work on them if they are over 10 yrs old. Keep that crap in UK.
I bought my Nissan Pathfinder 2005 and had a transmission problem 2016 till today. Am not going back to Nissan anymore. They have nice designs, but transmission always bad.
I am going to say this only once .. if the car have problems but you love the look or style ... you can fix it all ! Engine ia bad ? Rebuild the engine with performance parts ... bad transmission? Replace the parts with a reinforced ones ... rust ? Brand new painting ... after 10 years is never a bad ideal , same with suspensions .... you have bilstein , Kw and many others. Do with once ... pay the price but keep what you like
The Nissan Qashqai, after my BMW and VW, was by far the best car oout I have owned. Very low cost of maintenance, extremely economical diesel and virtually silent. Tastes may indeed differ.
I owned a certified pre owned BMW 320i xdrive. It was a 2014 model and I got it in 2017 with ~33k miles on it. I owned it for 5 years and sold it at the end of last year with 95 K miles on it. I was in school back then and was able to get in a cheap BMW.. It had the so called the infamous N20 engine I guess. Besides brake pads, tires and regular maintenance I didn't pay for any major problems. Great way to get into the brand and no regrets. At the end of the day it all depends on how you drive and take care of your car.
Me too, I had 2015 328ì, I never had any problems with engine suspension or electrical with this car, I had it for 4 years. I bought when car had 80,000 km on it, and sold it with 125,000 km. The only problem was with transfer case. It was making hesitation shaking for about 2 seconds when i was driving 60 80 kmh when ever I wanted lightly accelerate car was shaking like transmission jerking. So I decided to change the car, now I bought 2016 x3 35i, this is real beast.
On the BMW X-5, why not go to a tire store, like Discount tire and just get ONE tire replaced? I certainly wouldn't go back to the dealer to buy tires.
Had a 2011 Optima 274,000 km, it was using 2 liters of oil between oil changes. They only continue to go down hill from there, and it's not worth getting a used engine because it will be having issues of it's own. Then there is the cvt trans that should be seviced early in its life, but KIA will tell you not to touch. It's bad cars like these that help put people upside-down in their car loans because they can't afford the repair bill so they flip into a new loan on another car just to maintain a set monthly payment. Not saying it's right, it's just what they do.
I had a 2006 Nissan Murano, it was nothing but nightmares. Consistant CVT issues, engine burning oil, timing chain and other electrical issues to name a few
I had a Kia Sprectra. 2002 I had for 17 years it still ran good, the only thing is it rusted under neath .from all the salt and slushy ice. Loved that 🚗 🚘 🚔 🏎 car.
I wish Nissan would update the body of The Murano! My Favorite Vehicle. I’m Not trying to step on anyone Toes but I had 3 Muranos since 2014 (I always swap) Never had a Issue with the Murano. So many ppl Over the years always said Murano had a little problem with it must be true.
I bought many Japanese cars new over the years many different makes and models. I took good care of them. Got say Mazda and Subarus do not have the same built qualities and reliabilitie as Hondas and Toyotas. Dont be fooled thinking all japanese cars are reliable.
I have a 2014 Cruze that I bought with a little over 35,000 miles in 2021. It now has 75,000.I have it on Turo and I just recently put in a new thermostat. Overall it's a great car with regular maintenance.
I got a 2018 in December. It has less than 7k miles on it and has been back twice for dropping to limp mode from a knock sensor code. That's once before they changed the sensor and once after. The car can't handle rpm load when passing or merging onto the highway. Both times the car dropped to 40mph almost immediately, almost causing pileups. DO NOT BUY A THETA II EQUIPED HYUNDAI OR KIA.
@@kuyre2239 maybe you happened to get a lousy car , every car is different and every issue that arises does not mean it applies to every car of the same make and model ..
Baloney!! I have a 2013 Subaru Impreza that has been PERFECT! Zero engine problems, zero CVT transmission problems and I love how smooth yet responsive that CVT is. 11 year old car that has been perfect. Other than tire replacements and oil changes etc, not one penny spent on anything.
I 💯 % disagree, I've owned 2 nissan's. Currently I have 2016 Rogue w/ 132,000 miles, bought it @ 93,000 miles. I drove from NYC to Florida 3 times, from Florida to Virginia twice, from Florida to Nevada & back to Florida, from Florida to South Carolina & back to Florida, and from Florida to Arkansas 2x & back, 🗣 NOT A SINGLE REPPAIR DONE besides routine maintenance. And that was all done this year from April to November. Can't wait to 👀 where we go Rogue next year🤔🤷🏽 I did buy new tires because i did do alot of driving but all cars & trucks need tire replacement after x amount of miles. No matter what you drive, keep up with your regular scheduled maintenance & you'll be fine.
I agree with the comment that new cars are so expensive many consumers balk of having to spend so much money on one. So the solution is to buy a good reliable used car. I bought a used 2014 Honda still under warranty. It now has 145,009 miles on the odometer. It actually has been reliable though not quite as good as the 1992 Honda which I finally had to get rid of at 295,092 miles. Extended warranties I find could be valuable in the long run.
My coworker had two brand new Atlas with a toast motor, the first one was fixed by VW, then when it toast again, the same happened until Corporate said they won't fix it again. They cut a deal for him and he's left with another Atlas, he says that he likes the Atlas, even though it's toast twice. Go figure, maybe a masochist!!!!
i got the wife a 2018 rouge she loves it ...awd an great on gas thanks to the cvt,,,an the 4 cyl....nissan gave us a 7 year full replacement on it..change the filtes an the fluid in them...they will go an go...they are very well made suvs
My Wife bought a Murano Platinum edition , never has had a problem ... stone chips from her trips across the Country . We had a Mazda bought the dealership service people were DISHONEST - TERRIBLE
I drove a VW TDI ALH for 18 years going 682k kms sadly I sold it in Jan 2024 and now drive a 2011 Audi A3. I like that you talk about all cars. I have always felt I was restricted as to what to buy next because I had a great honest mechanic, a 30-year+ business relationship that it not worth switching to a non-VW brand like VW, Audi.
I own an Impreza 2016 2L, 50000 mil, with stick. Avoided CVT. Very solid build car, none of the issues you are describing. None at all with the engine. Maybe there are some related to some specific production year. However, my car runs like a Toyota.
I bought a 2015 Chevy Cruze LTZ brand new back in 2015. Had the car for about 6 years and put 130k miles on it. The only problems I had was the brakes and valve cover gaskets. The Valve cover gaskets had to be replaced just over 100k miles as it started leaking. The problem I had with the brakes were the rotors. They warped the first time I took the car on a trip to the mountains. The factory brakes were just crap. I ended up upgrading the front brakes with slotted/drilled rotors and better pads, didn't have a problem since. This was around the 50k mile point. Outside of that mechanically the car was reliable. However the car was very uncomfortable on long trips. It would not get the advertised MPG ratings. The only time the car would get close to 30mpg was if doing 55mph. At interstate speeds it was more like 26. The engine was very underpowered compared to the vehicles weight (especially having the LTZ model that was fully loaded) as forget it if you needed to pass someone quickly. Passing in this car was a pre-planned event with a long straight line if on a 2 lane highway. And anytime you had to stop on a hill you had to treat the car as if it was a stick shift. It would roll backwards easily. I've since sold this car. Now we have a '13 Honda Accord Coupe and a '14 Mercedes E350 coupe. Love both cars and both have been very reliable and comfortable.
I had the same car. Probably the worst car ever made. 87 thousand miles on it.) !!! My transmission started to slip. I couldn’t believe it. Never again. !! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
This from a guy who drives a Jaguar. Repair pal ranks Jaguar Reliability Rating at 2.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 29th out of 32 for all car brands....lol That being said I've had 2 Nissan Murano's. They have been both bullet proof. NO ISSUES AT ALL...but maybe I'll trade it in for an F-pace, my mechanic needs a new home 🤣🤣🤣
Good maintenance is key. Plus a proven reliable vehicle WITH GOOD MAINTENANCE RECORD. My 2003 chevy trailblazer is about to hit 200k miles and it's still looks good inside and out. I take care of it. 5k mile oil changes every time.
I recently bought a 2017 320i xDrive with 100k miles, I havent felt or seen any of the issues but at least I know what to look for possibly soon lol. It's my first car so I'm still learning what all to do and look out for (and by recently, I mean 4 months ago)
Mark I love your videos I just have a minute to say thank you I’m sharing this video with family and friends Bravo my best wishes always from Las Vegas Craig
I rented one once in Hawaii and thought I was riding my snowmobile with that cheap transmission cvt. It’s a car not a side by side but cool. Not to mention the interior road noise. Cheapest thing I’ve ever been in let alone driven. You’re missing out.
My sister just bought one last week. 2020 with 27 thousand miles on it. She drove it down south. To see her daughter wedding. On the way back home. She blew a head gasket.) true story !! Never again 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥲 !!
I drive a 2004 Lexus RX with 90k miles and it bores me to death, I feel there's no vehicle today that can match its reliability, I want something more exciting because life's too short to drive boring cars.
Reliable car formula: -NA big enough engine 2.0l 1.8l (1.5l hatch) -Manual gearbox or 6/5/4 speed automatic. -Port injection system (no GDi). -Non hybrid high voltage system. Unfortunately manufacturer don't make these car anymore. CVT are cheaper, plastic are easier to make and the final nail in the coffin emission standard.
Yeah, I don't know what this guy saw, but they have been pretty solid for reliability except for one year in the previous generation- and that was the CVT. I haven't heard about CVT problems since then. And I've never heard of engine mount problems.
I own a 2019 Nissan Murano. I absolutely love it! I’m at 100,000 miles and haven’t had any issues with mine. I make sure to get my scheduled maintenance on time and it’s a go. I don’t have a sunroof so I don’t have to worry about that. I believe making sure you do your scheduled maintenance with CVTs is very important to the life of the vehicle.
This guy is clearly over exaggerated with regards to the Murano. I own a 2016 Murano with 130k and the V6 is so dependable. As for the CVT transmission, it still operates as it did brand new. However I change the fluid every 35k miles and it isn't cheap. Like every car it isn't perfect and I have had sunroof drain plug issues in the A-Piller. Overall extremely happy I bought this vehicle.
Never will buy another AWD BMW. My 535i was kept immaculate. Then the transmissions locked up. My mechanic gave it a thumbs down. Got a Lexus 300es. Best decision ever.
I had the exact chevy cruze except it wasn't a premiere edition. It went into limp mode months after getting it, barely going 20mph would only start half time. It kept saying it was the transmission module. Gave it back to dealer, they said they put three different transmissions in it before it worked.
Timing chain is so right. I just bought a 2012 328i. Timing chain was bad. But great thing is. The car dealership I got it from. Fix it. Pick it up this week
Thanks for not playing a bunch of music.I can actually sit here and listen to you.

American automobiles!!!❤

Did you change the transmission fluid regularly?
No water leaks?
I want a rouge or murano so bad
I guess it's a draw of the luck. I have a 2009 rogue that I bought brand new. When it hit 100,000 miles in 2020 I had to have the transmission rebuilt. It had had all maintance done according to mileage since I bought it. Now, 2024 here comes the transmission again. Slipping. I don't wait for the 30,000 mile CVT fluid change. I did my CVT fluid change every other year. No where close in the 30,000 mileage change. I am going back to honda and Toyota. NO intentions on rebuilding the transmission again. Not coming out of toyota or honda anymore.
@Arizona_lilly Good luck!! Nissan are known for bad transmissions but you might get lucky.

Thank you for this!
I still see many Nissan Altima (2008-2010)models on the roads. They all look beat up but they're still running.
Other than the transmissions they’re actually pretty good. The transmission failure rates are high but most of them still last somewhat long, so there’s lots still on the road.

The Abarth 500 will be a collectors car soon.

Of course, I don't drive a lot, that may have something to do with it
2017.5 Murano & now 2024 Murano. No wrenches yet. Just lucky I guess. 🤷♂️

Wow!
My 2013 altimas at 170. Great car.
I bought a 2022 Nissan Sentra new, and to date, not one issue.
And
Don’t even think for a single moment that “everyone” will “just” have an electric vehicle
Not gonna happen
Most will be on foot or bike or rental
I don't completely agree. I believe the consumer caused the increase prices in cars and the automobile companies ran away with it. People prefer SUVs and Trucks and naturally they will cost more than a car. Then people need the heated steering wheels, expensive infotainment systems which drive the cost of cars. Just a few years ago many companies offered a variety of cheap entry level vehicles but people stopped buying them so they are gone off the market. Today everyone wants an X5, Lexus RRH350 and Ford F150s. So if people want those vehicles or any thing close to it you will have to pay for it.
It's not our economy. It's our preferences for expensive SUVs and pickup trucks and corporate greed.
@@bh2155 Exactly. I saw your comment after I posted a shorter one with a similar sentiment.
@@hahamasala Yes and the worse thing is that these consumer preferences ruined it for everyone else. I will need to replace my vehicle in a few years and I want a low prices car not an SUV in the lower 20k range. There pretty much very few options in this price range. Real story, had a 2004 Hyundai Elantra before, the transmission fell on the ground literally on my way home from work one day, luckily it was still under warranty and Hyundai paid for the repair, but I would not buy another one.

No repairs at all, only maintenance of course, batteries, tires,
brakes, and on second timing belt.
Did you do the water pump when you did the timing belt?
@@hogi99 Yes, all tensioners, everything while you are in there.
When it comes to the BMW with valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets leaking, you don’t simply replace the gaskets. You have to replace the valve cover and oil filter housing because they are made of plastic and warp so resealing doesn’t work. BMW = Bring Mama’s Wallet!

You earned my sub when you recommended Toyota / Mazda over the Nissan. Toyotas especially are known for their reliability.

Does it burn oil?

Please speak on Mazda CX 7 2007. I just bought one three months ago. What should I look out for..."Good" and "What to do to keep up good running?"

Sounds like a good run
I had the same car. Probably the worst car ever made. 87 thousand miles on it.) !!! My transmission started to slip. I couldn’t believe it. Never again. !! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Please do a vlog on extended car warranties and service contracts offered by BMW, Audi etc vs third party offers
Will absolutely NEVER buy a Testla!!!
Cheers
Excellent research done Mark. Thanks for sharing. Love your videos.
Thanks Mark. I try to bring some laughs and info to make it interesting
And they sure are a blast to drive
Imagine owning a car lot and going to your competitors car lot exposing bad cars to purchase. Genius!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂
Great in-depth "breakdown" analysis
Good maintenance is key. Plus a proven reliable vehicle WITH GOOD MAINTENANCE RECORD. My 2003 chevy trailblazer is about to hit 200k miles and it's still looks good inside and out. I take care of it. 5k mile oil changes every time.
Having grown up in the car business, every brand has issues. Even Toyota/Lexus is now recalling 100k cars for engine replacement. Hype video
I recently bought a 2017 320i xDrive with 100k miles, I havent felt or seen any of the issues but at least I know what to look for possibly soon lol. It's my first car so I'm still learning what all to do and look out for (and by recently, I mean 4 months ago)
Mark
I love your videos
I just have a minute to say thank you
I’m sharing this video with family and friends
Bravo my best wishes always from Las Vegas Craig
Nissan Murano has been great for us… 2012 still running like new.
I rented one once in Hawaii and thought I was riding my snowmobile with that cheap transmission cvt. It’s a car not a side by side but cool. Not to mention the interior road noise. Cheapest thing I’ve ever been in let alone driven. You’re missing out.
Hell no. Our murano was garbage since day 1
Never said it was luxurious. It's been reliable though.
My sister just bought one last week. 2020 with 27 thousand miles on it. She drove it down south. To see her daughter wedding. On the way back home. She blew a head gasket.) true story !! Never again 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥲 !!
Nissan Murano is notorious for gear problems.
I'm enjoying the new format.
Excellent delivery
I drive a 2004 Lexus RX with 90k miles and it bores me to death, I feel there's no vehicle today that can match its reliability, I want something more exciting because life's too short to drive boring cars.
Well Hyundai and KIA can match to lexus reliability.
Not a 04 rx one of the most reliable ever Kia and Hyundai do build some very reliable cars
That was stressful. Now I have to watch your video on reliable cars.
You can do it!
I would’ve left Tesla off the list,it’s an appliance not a car😂
You are right. I was a passenger I'm a new one..I felt like I was going to fall out thru the bottom
good analogy no name my 10 year old sunbeam toaster will outlast a Tesla lmaooooo
Reliable car formula:
-NA big enough engine 2.0l 1.8l (1.5l hatch)
-Manual gearbox or 6/5/4 speed automatic.
-Port injection system (no GDi).
-Non hybrid high voltage system.
Unfortunately manufacturer don't make these car anymore. CVT are cheaper, plastic are easier to make and the final nail in the coffin emission standard.
Funny thing is, the Nissan Murano is the #1 midsize SUV according to jd power when it comes to verified customer satisfaction.
Great car
Nice
I nearly purchased a brand new VW Taos this year. Although i have better long term with Sedans and went with a Jetta instead.
nice
Nissan muranos are everywhere. I got one with 67k and I didn’t have any of those problems 🤷🏿♂️.
Another great review, many thanks
I had the exact chevy cruze except it wasn't a premiere edition. It went into limp mode months after getting it, barely going 20mph would only start half time. It kept saying it was the transmission module. Gave it back to dealer, they said they put three different transmissions in it before it worked.
Timing chain is so right. I just bought a 2012 328i. Timing chain was bad. But great thing is. The car dealership I got it from. Fix it. Pick it up this week
Meanwhile timing belt 4 cylinder have less problem.
Good point, altering emissions could become a federal case...
Well….
