If Tiffany Crawford was with me she would still be here
So now we convict people because they didn’t react the way a juror feels he should. The jurors in this case suck
I truly believe Justice had won. And I can't figure out Tiffiney's mom her son in law, I hadn't seen him shed a tear for his wife. She should only be crying for her daughter, not her arrogant son in law. So very sad . RIP Tiffiney

Whatever you do, don't get life insurance and don't light up a room or you'll be dead before this episode of 48 hours is finished.
True! Don't be a great mother and make them your world.
@@msw8839 great mother is subjective. What you may call a great mother others may not.
Oh yeah, I have life insurance with my mother name on it as the beneficiary not my husband, and I definitely don’t light up any room :)
So true.
or have your whole life ahead & “had no enemies”. make sure your relationship with your spouse is downhill, too!
He was dating Tiffany while she was still married. How hypocritical can you be.
Exactly. How you get them is how you lose them
I agree
Just because she was married when she was dating Jason, doesn't mean he's a hypocrite. Maybe the marriage was already over, they were living apart or maybe she just loves to cheat on her husband's. I mean, she does have a pattern for it 🤷🏽
You lose em how you get ‘em!!
Exactly 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼‼️
As a mom I couldn't IMAGINE behaving like Tiffany's mom. What a traitor.
I think she was terrified of losing any visitation or custody she could have with the grandchildren.
Yhh doesn’t make any sense. How’s a mother soo concerned about her son inlaw than finding the killer of her deceased daughter.
Indeed
I believe it came down to fear, fear of not only losing her daughter but also losing her grandchildren, fear of her grandchildren not only losing their mother but also their father.
It’s easy to call her a “traitor” from the outside looking in but it’s clear that poor women was in absolute turmoil over this. In the end she showed her true strength by standing up for her daughter
Narcissistic mother...couldn't see anything beyond herself her bond with son-in-law was important than her daughter's death
I do not believe Tiffiney would have the presence of mind to shoot herself a second time after being shot in the jaw. The first bullet would have caused unimaginable pain.
Yes, so much pain she wanted to end it

I worked with a guy that shot himself twice in the head so it is possible ….
His mom was in the local law enforcement, yet chose to clean the van before evidence could be gathered. That speaks volumes imo.
Right
The police told them they already gathered all the evidence they could.
@@nathanbradleyf777 She worked with them. An outside law enforcement agency should have taken over.

The good ole boy system has always been, and goes both ways.
Jason was soooo upset that Tiffany had violated the "sanctity of their marriage," but he didn't seem to have a problem with committing adultery with Tiffiney while she was still married to her previous husband. That hypocrisy, alone, made me suspect him from the outset.
He also apparently didn't realize that patterns repeat. If she did it to her last husband she'd do it again
Amen.
THEN* hypocrisy alone
👍🏾 if they did it with you, they will do it to you…..
PREACH!!!!!
Wow, her mom saying “that’s my son-in-law” while never mentioning her daughter in that manner is insane to me. She could’ve fought for visitation with her grandchildren, while still defending her daughter memory!

@@T_MusicLover_Hwow that’s was disgusting of you to say
The amount of time her mother teared up for Jason but not her daughter, was weird but I’m glad her eyes were opened in the end. Jason is just cold.
The look in his eyes are of sadness. I'm like him. Relationships make on turn their feelings down. I'm happy too with my life but tired.

Absolutely, she was in denial but she saw truth and made it right

As soon as I heard that officer saying, "There's nothing here that says anything other than suicide" within a few minutes of looking at the scene, I KNEW we were about to learn that scumbag husband had connections in the police department.
And the car. Why would they want to check for blood spatter patterns on a two bullets to the head suicide? No way, just let the family get to cleaning it.
💯
I am an American. I have also studied law and I determined a long time ago that there is a lot of corruption in the American legal system. Lots! I am an unbeliever in our system.
exactly. They already determined that all the other possibilities did not happen and that's how they treated the case and the evidence, so their work was tainted from the beginning.. God will pay them and the murderer.
Good job! 👋
The police claim they treated it like a homicide yet they never tested Jason for gunshot residue?! And they released the vehicle to him within 24 hours?! No doubt his family connection had played a part in this. No justice!
He was probably already rejected and a bit disturbed from his previous relationship so was in a weird frame of mind second time around. Funny I'm often typing a comment then hear the same on a video right then.
That former chief medical examiner for the state of Alabama was way off too. I wonder how much he has got wrong.
HI IS INOCENT !!
Neglecting to take GSR-tests could be just small town cops vs big city crime thing, youd be surprised to learn how many times it is forgotten. Same as releasing the car back to the family. Some departments are really good at asking help, but some wont, even in cases they absolutely should.
No justice? He got life in prison.
“She’s been shot” , I don’t think anybody would have said that if they knew that their wife had shot herself. Listening to the 911 call, that’s what caught my attention
Youre right if hes innocent and he knew 100% he didnt do it..naturally he would have said my wife shot herself or my wife just committed suicide
Yup!
She shouldn't uh been cheating.
Great point I didn't even think about that
Thats nonsense.
If you didnt know what happened, thats exactly what you would say. "Shes been shot".
I absolutely love how 48 hours puts together their episodes. This whole time I was thinking he was found innocent by the way they showed it.

It's mind-boggling how the first officers to attend the scene didn't even test Jason for firearms residue. It's unbelievable really.

@@GGiblet It is protocol across the entire US to do a GSR test on all witnesses and victims whenever a firearm is involved in a death. Sometimes police departments drop the ball and don't do it, but it is absolutely protocol to do it. It is a very simple and easy test- a quick swab of the hands that is then sent out for testing for GSR. Any department that fails to do it is sloppy and unprofessional, as this department certainly was.
Most men seem to automatically stick up for men against women.
Anytime the spouse says things like “they were drinking a lot” to try to besmirch the deceased’s character…it’s a huge red flag.

Man, the mom defended him throughout the entire episode. At the end she asked the most powerful of question: "Jason, if not you, who?"

The mother was in denial... She did not want to lose the opportunity of seeing her grandkids. Sad that she's feeling that way. No matter what she needs to be on her daughter's side. She was MURDERED.
She could & most likely would have gotten custody of her grand kids if he was convicted. That woman because she is not a mother didn’t deserve that beautiful child to be her daughter at all!!! She failed her in life & death!!!!
That's exactly why the murderers family should NEVER get the kids. It's ridiculous!
Please 🙏🏾
I was HORRIFIED by that mother but she redeemed herself by seeing the truth in the end. My benefit of the doubt for her is that maybe she felt like the MIL would win custody in family court because of MIL's status in the local legal system.
Or, she really feels the way she says she does. Every thing is not calculated and human emotions are complex. But good on you for knowing for a FACT how you would deal with the situation.
I can't help but to feel like his reaction to her "suicide" was not normal. I would imagine seeing someone you love dying or dead in front of you would at least evoke some type of emotion.
except he had every reason to not love her at that point, if it was suicide, he had every reason to say you deserve this at that point even if he didnt do it, there is just too much doubt in this case and the prosecution should have been made to work harder to get a conviction!
@@gbemisolaagboola8255 - No, he had no reason. She cheated, big deal. Not a death sentence. It showed how angry and remorseless he was because he murdered her.
I hate this kind of argument, to be honest. Everybody's different, and far too many innocent people have been persecuted or convicted from somebody's idea of inappropriate emotional response.. He did not feel right when the cops showed up, but the emotion wasn't the problem. Rather, what he said sounded like he was telling a story, not like he was actually remembering something that had just happened. I've had to talk to the police before about a violent crime that just happened; it just doesn't sound like that. You backtrack, you correct yourself, you add things. You think a lot, trying to make sure you're remembering and retelling it accurately. It's nothing like this. Edit: He used the exact same words to the Dateline person! Totally a memorized story.
"Well, she was depressed, so she obviously committed suicide." Gawd, I HATE this attitude. I was depressed for years, and I NEVER tried to end it - EVER. People are so naive about mental illness.
Ninety-nine year sentence and eligible for parole in 15? That's crazy. Nobody shoots themselves with their non-dominant hand, and they almost never shoot themselves twice.
& the cop barely touched her & the gun fell out of her hand ! That’s impossible, she would’ve been clutching it tight causing them to have to pry it from her hand. UGHH HE’S SOOO FREAKING GUILTY & I hope they deny EVERY parole hearing because he deserves to ROT under the prison ‼️🤬😤
I'm a left-handed person but I also play sports with my right hand ambidextrous kind of
You don't know what she was no one really does
Should have been found not guilty. Cheaters deserve everything they get. He'll be out in 15 while she's hanging out in her casket
There's a possible reason why. If I shoot myself through my mouth..like I see in the movies...and I stayed conscious after, I would definitely shoot myself again in the head. Not saying he's not guilty... Just offering a perspective
This was one of the best episodes I've ever seen. This interviewer should consider becoming a prosecutor. He didn't let the suspect get away with lying like so often happens. And yet with that same tenacity, he also gently helped the victims mom come out of her denial and face the hard truth. I'm so thankful, despite clear conflicts of interest, justice was served.
I was surprised to see him on 48 Hours. Six years ago, he covered the Central America beat--sad and scary stuff.
It is not his job to influence any witness.
@Picklesmacks ….. this was literally NOT the best episode that they filmed… i give it a 5 outta 10..

I think one of the best things about this case was that the sheriff recognized the conflict of interest right away and turned it over to the state. Not every sheriff or police department would have done that and it was the right thing to do. (10:41)
He let the husband keep the van and he and his family totally washed it up all within 24 hrs of her death.
😅
yup! or it would have been completely covered up and swept under the rug
Was it because it was Rhonda who did it Jason's mother
@@carolsummers8734 no, they didn't just let him keep the van. They processed it just like a normal crime scene and then gave it back. I'm sure the promptness of the process was a professional courtesy. You act as if they just ignored the van as a potential crime scene and let him destroy evidence. It really doesn't take long to obtain swabs, prints, photos, video, etc. It is the further investigation of those items of evidence that take time. Law enforcement still investigated despite thinking it was a suicide initially. That is more than most departments do for obvious homicides at times.
This guy is so freaking guilty. There’s not a doubt in my mind that he did it. I have no idea why that mother is crying over him after he brutally murdered her daughter. They should’ve tested his hands for gunshot residue though. The kids are truly left in a sad situation.
It's vile. Almost as if the mother is in an intimate relationship with him herself, the way she's acting.

mama was more upset by the guilty verdict than the death of her own kid. wow.
Some people had absolutely no doubt it was him. She confided probably to her friends more than her mom and they had a much better idea and feel for what really happened. They knew her state of mind better than her mom did.
It's a pity that under Alabama law he will be eligible for parole in 15 years even though he was sentenced to 99 years. That isn't justice at all.
I don't think he'll get parole, because her mother will be at the hearing to make sure he doesn't!
While I agree with you, just think how long 15 years actually is in prison with few of the comforts afforded. It will undoubtedly feel like a lifetime for him.
I thought he said 50 years!! Wait wow only 15 😱😱😱‼️ That’s insane!!!
@Leticia Guerra I doubt it. By then the mother will likely change her mind again. If his parents aren't letting her see the grandkids, she'll want him out to try to get access to the grandkids again. Her mom seems to change her story based off of what benefits her most.😢
@@darcyjeanske821 you mean what benefits the kids of her only daughter. She doesn’t “benefit” She has to play games with a family that has already shown they are just as bad as he does. She is doing what her daughter would likely want. And that is to stay in the life of those babies.
Why do people think they can get away with this? Do they not watch true crime shows?
Exactly!! I've watched crime and mystery shows forever and always thought I'd be caught for sure. Plus I'm a terrible liar 🤗
Its hubris, plain and simple....
It's hard to believe....I know....but some people actually don't! Blows my mind!
Good question
I mean, he almost did. It was almost 6 years before he was charged, also his mother was the Sherrif so he prob thought he had protection there. To be honest though, he was prob in a rage when he shot her and probably wasn't thinking anything about getting away with it at the time. He just saw red due to the affair. I just feel so bad for the kids, her mother, and her as well. I do think its odd the children live with his parents though. Usually they would go with the mothers family, especially considering he killed her. Maybe her mom isn't in a position to take care of them or wasn't 6 years ago and when she found out he did it she didn't want to rip them out of their new home, who knows.
I'm sorry, but that woman's first responsibility is to bear witness for her daughter. Not sit with and support her son-in-law, whom she knows had a compelling motive. She knew that she was going home to tell Jason she was leaving him, and now she's dead! I can't believe that she thinks so little of justice for her daughter. I think she would've been fine with believing it to be suicide!
Yes, a terrible mom, just like mine.
The mother really disgusted me during the investigation and trial. She completely abandoned her daughter. She couldn't deal with the truth, so she buried her head in the sand. I'm glad she finally came around to support her daughter. This is exactly what sociopaths do. They lie very convincingly.
The kids live with Jason's parens?! Yikes. I can somewhat understand why Tiffiney's mom wanted to keep her relationship good with every party; I wouldn't want to lose contact with my daughters' kids when they are the most precious things she left behind.
@Elisa Heiskanen Let's just hope that goes both ways. The parents of Jason might not feel the same way.
She knows he’s innocent
I think she could still believe her daughter committed suicide
The children should never have been allowed to remain with his parents he is guilty and as a mother my allegiance is to my dead daughter first!
We don't know her situation. We should be careful about judging others. We don't walk in their shoes.
The strangest thing for me from the beginning is his mom worked for the Sheriffs office and cleaned the car.
Wait wasn’t it not even dirty? I mean blood wasn’t on the door as the coroner said!
The sheriff’s Dept released the van to family. The whole case was bungled from start to finish.
I thought: Who is worse? The mom or the police?
"You destroyed the sanctity of our marriage!", said the man who destroyed the sanctity of her previous marriage....

Anytime someone has died and the first thing the spouse says is "we were arguing" 9 times out of 10 it's the spouse who did it. How calm and emotionless he is throughout the whole thing is strange. I can't speak for how the mother in law acted, Im just glad the truth came to light & that the kids can try to heal.
Well in this case it could be her shame that drove her.
He seemed emotionless through even when he was sentenced. I think the guy is just emotionless 24/7 which is probably why they keep cheating on him and he stayed friends with the first. Entirely passionless
Exactly my thoughts. I was waiting for the "argument' part
Most people that are married have arguments, but not all of them have affairs. This would have been a hard case for me to figure out. What if he didn't lie? The oldest child said he walked in the house when they heard the first shot. That would make me think he was innocent. Kids will tell the truth before an adult would. Most kids pay attention and they know what's going on. Always listen to the kids, because they've been there living around these people the whole time. I feel so sorry for them the most. Poor kids. 🥺😥😢💔
Even bigger is when he says her last words were that she loved him I see this over and over

I agree with the shoutout, the doctors were amazing, but it's made clear in this episode that the jury only found him guilty because of his 9-11 call. That's pretty terrifying if you ask me, how stupid some juries can actually be. The doctors gave a mountain of evidence but that's not what convinced this jury. Their own interpretation of his 9-11 call did it for them, because clearly that mattered more than the actual forensic evidence from highly educated professionals.
@@dusanoljaca2585 Haha, "trust the science," right? There were highly educated professionals on both sides saying opposite things. "The actual forensic evidence" could go both ways, one pathologist for the defense saying that it was totally possible to have the skin evidence result from much closer range shots than what the other pathologist -- the black woman -- was claiming. She was arrogant as well, which immediately tells me her testimony was on shaky grounds.

So her dumb tail suddenly bothered by someone being happy HER DAUGHTER got justice ? And it was due to the KILLERS own words ? Like come on now. Even when she realized he did do it. Some people are over the top empathetic - she couldn’t handle hearing the facts about her son-in-law - maybe she was afraid of not having access to her grandchildren - but that’s just rewarding the narcissist types over the victims :P
The video of the gun dropping out of her hand on police body-cam _still_ bothers me and makes me think it's a suicide... 🤷🏼♀️

Right verdict.
What bothers me is “Who was there in support of the victim”? I am so thankful that the mom finally saw the light!!
The mom literally probably ruined her life, grandkids life, so yeah I guess she saw the light lol
Girl bye, I'm a woman and can plainly see that this gall was hardly a victim if she was not even just a one, but a two time-cheater. Not saying that anyone has the right to take anyone's life, but excuse me if I ain't gonna sit here and cry over someone who stretched the rope in the absolutely reckless way that this person seems to have done. Again, did I hear it correctly that she cheated on him not once but twice?! When people push others to that kind of limit, take them for that wild of an emotional ride, no one can complain then when that rope gets stretched too thin and eventually just breaks. He wasn't exactly the smartest in killing her tho, and in doing so totally allowing for her to destroy his life. He was angry at how he had allowed for her to play him for a fool, that anger blinded him and is what made him pull that trigger. It could have all been avoided if he had simply just left after the first time she cheated. They didn't have children, what made him stay after the first time she cheated?! That's what he was angry at, himself, because he didn't have the self respect to just leave the first time she did it; and because he didn't leave then she did it again, played him for a fool again. That's what killed him. It's time people understand something for once and for all, people will do what they will do, they can try to throw whatever bs they can try to throw at us, it's the way that we respond to it that determines who the fool is.

1. If he met her when she was cheating on her first husband and still married her that's on HIM. Why on earth would anyone one think the person they're having an affair with will suddenly become faithful when married to them is beyond me. Love her, marry her if you want, but live with both eyes open. She has a history and he needed to pay attention to it. He didn't.
2. Let's not blame the victim. At all. Ever. Some people live wildly reckless lives and make stupidly insane mistakes. That is not, and never should be reason for them to be killed.

This is a tough one for me to watch. Watching Tiffiney's mother defend her killer was infuriating! I couldn't help myself but think that my mother would problem do the same. She stood behind my ex-husband & blamed me even after he was convicted and sentenced for stabbing a man. To this day she call him "Son" This man was abusing me not only mentality & physically but left me financially devastated. But my mother did the most damage. She broke my heart & soul.
My mother broke my heart and soul too but in a different way
I'm sorry for your situation but I don't think this is the same thing. We don't know the relationship between her and her son in law and there's no proof that he abused her. She wants to see her grandchildren. We need to keep in mind that we only know what the mother is saying publicly.
❤I’m so sorry - my mom did me that dirty too😢
My mom kept on being more than cordial with my ex after he beat nd raped me. I went to trial alone at 21. In her mind you could not possibly be raped by your boyfriend/spouse. I realised the way she grew up, very poor, seing her dad beat her mom, probably conditionned her.
So of course I got no support with my case she advise me to pull my complaint against him. Anyways it took years of me explaining for her to finally get it she may not have a daughter anymore today, cause that night I thought he would have killed.
Sounds like my mother a complete narcissist who destroyed my life, never not a time when she didn’t let me down, I hate her!!
This Mom betrayed her daughter. Disgusting.
Yeah, I worked at a Sheriff's dept just like that. Everything was a wink and a nod.
"Do you think Tiffany would say you're a murderer?"
"No, I don't think so"

This was so bizarre in that the mother of this woman totally sided with her killer. She finally realizes she was wrong until she supposedly heard all of the evidence. Very strange lady.
VERY VERY VERY WEIRD LADY.
I am considering that victim’s mom loves her son in law. And perhaps she felt some guilt that her daughter had an affair on her son in law. She had a change of mind after she considered all the evidence.
Really. The victim was in relationship with another guy, but told to her husband “loves him”, shot her self in presence of him, from his side and at least 10 inch distance with the L hand, being R handed….
His face and eyes tell a lot about him, sadistic liar !
That's not what she said it all she said she doesn't know and that nobody wins in this situation because he's got a family to she said she doesn't want to believe that her daughter shot herself but she doesn't want to believe that her son-in-law the father of her grandbabies did it either
I can get it, we are very close to one of our son in laws family. We have share Christmass together, new years, so many differant events, we live close to his family and he totally dotes on my daughter. If he killed her, it would be hard to let it sink in, on top of losing our daughter. I would feel for his family as much as our own. Like she said there are no winners, both families are hurt so deeply... She didn't want to admit to herself nevermind the world, that she lost her child at the hands of a man she loved as a son.... The father of her grandchildren... It was alot to process... The life as she knew it collasped that day.. Noone can blame her for mentally trying to hold on to some of it...or processing it bit by bit...
I feel like the only person in the comments that feels like he's innocent. If he's guilty, he's the best actor I've seen in all these 48 Hours episodes.

Two shots with her LEFT hand and the first thing the Sheriff says is suicide! How stupid can the Sheriff be and still have a job. Corruption is an ugly trait.
I couldn’t believe that Tiffany’s mother Cheryl supported Jason. She kept saying ‘my son in law ‘ and not once did she refer to her daughter . She only attended court once during the trial and when she did , she was on the Stand saying how wonderful Jason was . She never attended court to hear the evidence against the man who possibly murdered her daughter . She fully supported him and his parents. Even when the verdict came through she was sitting behind Jason’s parents . It’s very odd that she never once questioned Jason’s guilt . If the verdict had been ‘ not guilty ‘ she would have readily accepted that her daughter committed suicide . And she even said she didn’t want to jeopardise his Appeal so wouldn’t say anything more to the 48 hour reporter .
Good that she finally spoke out during his sentencing .
I hope she contests Jason’s release in 14 yrs time, though I doubt she will . ( He has 15 yr minimum sentence)
It was disgusting that Jason’s parents brought the children along for sentencing . It was a tactic to garner sympathy for Jason but the judge is used to that! .
They should never have got custody of the children . They won’t keep the children’s mother’s memory alive in a good way . They’ll tell the children that their mother committed suicide and their father is innocent . The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Probably cause the local sherriff's office paid her visits.

I think that the people judging her mother so harshly for believing that her son in law wouldn’t have killed her daughter are very privileged to have never gone through something where you have to accept that someone you trusted and loved- so fully, so unconditionally, as if they were your own child- could betray you and your family so deeply. They are very wrong in their assumptions of her character. It is clear that she is a very compassionate and heartbroken woman. It’s just crazy that people pretend to know what that would feel like, based on the collective 5 minutes of her talking during this episode. In the end, she has to face and accept a horrific reality. God forbid it took her a freakin minute to get there.
I was going to church, volunteering, and had done an evaluation with a counselor, but had thoughts of suicide. I never told anyone. Usually the people who are serious about it don’t tell anyone. I did attempt it, too. Have had thoughts of it since and I now have a loving husband and two children. So people saying ‘oh no, she seemed fine, she was helping people and started seeing a counselor’ doesn’t mean anything.
Regardless of the verdict or what actually happened in this particular case, people need to keep that in mind. People often commit suicide when no one saw it coming.
But just because YOU had suicidal thoughts you never spoke about it, doesn't mean that she was suicidal and killed herself.
@@shelliedavis did you read the second half of what I said? I was saying that it doesn’t necessarily apply to this case. It’s just that a lot of the family and friends in the video kept saying she didn’t seem suicidal. It brought to mind how often people say that in general. I’m not saying that SHE committed suicide though.
Edit: I’m simply saying that I hope people keep that in mind in general when hearing things in this video. Just because someone has everything going for them, it doesn’t mean they’re okay on the inside.
@@melissajenkins9960 You're absolutely correct. Depression doesn't look any one way. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it isn't. The husband seems way too calm in both the 911 call and when the police are talking to him outside his house. He does not seem concerned at all about his wife. He also puts his head down when 48 hours asks if he shot his wife.usually when someone does not look you in the eye they are lying.
There's any more rather than being home is not answering who shot her when the dispatcher kept asking. That's huge.

@@danielmorris7648 What an incredibly silly thing to say.
For one highly unlikely thing to occur during a suicide is odd, but not entirely unbelievable. For several highly unlikely things to occur is entirely unbelievable. In this case, the husband expects everyone to believe that...
1) His wife opted to commit suicide via gun, even though women rarely commit suicide that way
...AND...
2) She decided to shoot with her left hand despite being right handed
...AND...
3) Despite being in the driver's seat of her vehicle, she somehow managed to hold and shoot the gun from at least a foot away from her head
...AND...
4) After shooting herself once, she shot herself again (still with her left hand from a foot away) for good measure.
To reiterate, on its own, any of those four aspects of the husband's story is hard to believe.... For all of these extremely rare and unlikely things to occur is impossible to believe.

It's hard to argue with any of that, you nailed it. #4 never happens. If a person failed on the first shot, they most likely won't be alert and aware enough to fire a second. There's shock, fear, confusion (am I dead?) Just the volume inside a car is going to be unbearable.
