Everyone on the whole Flite Test crew is so personable, endearing and genuine. I truly feel like you guys are all my friends, even though we've never met. I don't think I'd ever leave living in the state of Alaska, but if I ever do, I can imagine it would only be to get to a closer proximity to Ohio in an effort to be able to socialize and hang out with y'all. I know you're all great group and your camaraderie and love for each other shines through in each video I watch.
this is hands down one of my fav. episodes guys, i always come back and watch it ! i wish i was able to fly with a good group of people like you all :) most of my friends call me a nerd when i fly but i dont care its my hobby and its so much fun i
Yeah, I don’t know what’s nerdy about flying aircraft? It always seems to amaze people when I demo fly an EDF Jet though! Yeah, I’m a solo flyer as well!
I meet the best looking women while slope soaring. They are alway jogging around the lookout points. Chicks dig nerds with airplanes. Slope soarers do it in scenic places.
I don’t get why everyone who likes aviation or model aviation is classified as a “Nerd” Generally speaking, the word “nerd” is a negative thing. This hobby is pretty damn cool, not everyone can say they fly high performance 100+ mph F-16s for fun. (And as for the ‘nerd with an airplane bit,’ that’s not how it works. All the chicks in my high school got to see me do a demo with a high speed, high performance E-Flite 70mm F-16 set to Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” but none said a word.) Slope soaring, or thermal soaring is great. After a adrenaline filled flight with a fun high speed aircraft, I can personally say I enjoy flying my light up Night Radian FT to relax.
Guys..I review models for one of our magazines here in Australia..Plus I've worked in the media to pay my bills for 33 years. Your show is great. The fun you guys are having and the obvious friendship blasts forwards through the screen, creating enjoyable entertainment. In the new paradigm of 21st C media more power to your arm. I'll continue to enjoy your work.. Hope to meet you one day on one of my trips to the US..
You guys are the best RUclips has to offer! Love all of your videos! The production quality is unreal and the content is top notch... The Glider Challenge was a lot of fun to watch. Thanks!
I challenge you to build a 100g foam glider. Arrow shaft for the tail boom, T Tail. Foam wings and Foam pod. Fiber glass is allowed as well as balsa and plywood. If you guys can pull it off I will shave my beard!
Hey guys, I love your clever creativity and fun that you have as adults with RC planes! Hey I'll put a long shot out there but what about a cargo plane challenge. Carrying weight and such or a certain number of army men with parachutes, do a parachute cargo drop etc. Now here's an even crazier idea: what about a FPV cargo plane where you do targeted drops in an aiming competition? Thanks for all of you being FliteTest!
And this is your job? You guys get to have waaaayy too much fun and hilarity while working and it brings a real breath of fresh air to the show every episode. I must admit David does cracking me up, he's a big kid lol. You guys ever visit Scotland come see us.
Awesome project! You could have designed the wing with a higher aspect ratio and rounded wingtips in order to make the glider slightly more efficient. But that's just my opinion.
You guys brought up the Gentle Lady. That was my dad's first glider build. I still have the plans for it. Been thinking about building it again and using a brushless in the power pod. He built it probably 35 years ago and only flew it twice. Sadley it's been destroyed in moving accidents.
I'm going to give the Versawing a shot this weekend, only instead of foamboard, I'm going to be using some really thin aluminum I picked up for another project. Wound up with about 3x as much as I needed. If she flies, I'll be putting D-day invasion stripes on the wing and leaving her with a natural aluminum finish.
Please tell us more about that glider David is holding in the beginning, please David, you showed that on purpose, just tell us what you did :-P . maybe on your Rcexplorer channel if it's not so good for ft. But please.......
Combat Gliders. Qualifications: 1M polyhedral wing. Swappable. Must start as powered, high start and towable. Must attain dive speed of at least 100KM/Hr. 4 sheet maximum. Must be set up as V-Tail or T-Tail(pick one for the competition). I will build my own design and demo it when you contact me.
Yes david, RC towing is awesome, but you dont need a pure glider to tow! I tow up my Bixler 2 with a 1400mm hobbyking cub! The tow release is cheap and also from hobbyking
Hi. I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm somewhat disabled now and need a new hobby as I can't cycle or motorbike anymore and sailing is way to expensive. We don't have any spare money so your whole idea for these homemade foam planes is an inspiration. All the best!
What is that v-tailed miniature Bird-of-Time David was holding at the beginning. I've seen pretty much all of your videos but have not come across that one. Would like to know more about it.
Awesome episode guys. I really like Josh's design in pure glider mode. What a cheap fun little bird. That Hi-start was a thing of beauty, but how many times did you guys make poor Chad run? "We need another Chad... we didn't get the shot" :-)
This episodes reminds me of my first Glider, the Graupner Kleine Uhu. Its a Balsa Wing and lots of fun to build. Also can fly quite some distance for a free-glider (no rc controls),
Great Video as always. I wait for the build of Josh's glider, looked like my old Questor and really want to see the Bird of Time looking one that David had. Please a review and build of that one also.
Thanks for another awesome vid! You had me all excited for a moment, when I seen the challenge vid my first thought was a viewer challenge, just sayin. That would be really cool... also, just put up my maiden flight and day two of flight testing vids are up. would be super cool if you were to check them out, any tips and suggestions would be awesome And *NOTE* for David Thanks for the help for figuring out what motor & esc combo with the programme. it has proven to be a solid setup, and fast!
Wouldn't it be nice to find a diy kit that compares to expensive gliders on the market? The glider you quickly tossed aside looked promising; with it's carbon arrow tail boom and foam wings. I still look for "competitive" DLG gliders that won't break the bank.
one of the most fun videos i've watched... nice that you guys have fun with rc... Glider combat, awesome idea... Make another project for COMBAT ONLY...ALL OUT FOAM WAR!!
I have killed all of my blue wonders, so this is a great alternative to the versa wing. Really interesting launch methods. I will start work on a design that takes the best of both of your gliders. You can tell that David has the mind of an aeronautical engineer and not a structural one!
Greetings guys... I am a new owner of the Dynam 1400 P-51. Sweet plane and it's a dream to fly. thanks for all the video help and see you on the runway. Keep up the great work, you guys keep it fresh and fun. Wayne - N8VBW
how about going "old school" and building a couple of nitro planes?maybe an ".049 foam board speed/endurance challenge" with 2 identical babe bee or dragonfly motors.
FliteTest has some fantastic budget aircraft on their store. Try the trainers or Mighty Minis; they are my favorite! They make it easy so even the most financially challenged individuals can fly and have some fun with friends!
Enjam can you spend $200? You can get a 2600mm glider that can also be a 1600mm. Wing size. You also need a charger and a battery. Glider:$139.99 Radio:$43.99 Charger:$21.59 Battery:$12.99 I would buy 2 batteries. Longer flight time.
Solar plane: if you add a charging circuit hooked up to a photovoltaic (solar) panel and trickle charged your battery it could give you more range for a smaller cell. Just a thought, but you might end up drawing more power from the battery then the solar panel is putting in, what are your thoughts?
There was a plane called Helios that tried that. To get enough panels to compensate for the draw of the motor, the wingspan had to be ludicrously wide, and the wings couldn't be reinforced enough while being lightweight. The prototype famously crumbled into pieces and tumbled into the Pacific due to this.
I believe a standard solar cell has a 10% effeciency, there was some work done by a uni (I think?) a couple of years ago, managed to produce a solar cell with 13% effeciency in cloudy conditions.
Great again! Is the DLG Style Glider fittet with a wing from Hobbyking? What about building a 3d Micro (wingspan under 400mm)? I would love something like that!
Everyone on the whole Flite Test crew is so personable, endearing and genuine. I truly feel like you guys are all my friends, even though we've never met. Where are they located?
+ByteMe I'm pretty sure they are in canton Ohio :)
Still love the videos from the early days of flight test. 🥹
this is hands down one of my fav. episodes guys, i always come back and watch it !

8:07 - What happened!? Did I get hit with a flash bang!? My ears are ringing!
8:07
I must say this is a great show!!!
David made me laugh so hard in this video. There needs to be more of him. Especially in challenge builds!
"It's good, it's ... well, I landed it. Takes me back to building original RC foam wing gliders when I was a kid. Always fun. Thumbed up.
I challenge you to build a 100g foam glider. Arrow shaft for the tail boom, T Tail. Foam wings and Foam pod. Fiber glass is allowed as well as balsa and plywood.
If you guys can pull it off I will shave my beard!
Great idea
Jeffrey Jorgensen i
1 year later
Still waiting to shave my beard
2 years later lmao
Ah my b 5 years later
Instead of a runner, you could have an RC car to tow-start. That'd be neat.
Good idea
That is a great idea
I tryed it. Its very hard to get a powerful enough car
+ThalassTKynn 60mph nitro car. But you'd have to weigh it down because the plane might take off with it!
BadIdeas101 u can make a special hitch so that it comes of at a certain angle
Josh, Josh, & David ; Those were nice gliders & you did a great job building & flying them ! Thanks for the video!
can we have a video about the light weight glider David has before he gets the 8 sheet one out, or at least a couple more pics and info

Great job guys! Your RC gliders flew great 👍
Nice planes! I really enjoy watching you guys build all these awesome planes and challenges.
Keep it up!
I live all the way in Oregon and I was at the hobby store and I saw some of Flite Test's Products! It has spread far!
What was the first glider that you threw away
great demo guys, love your home built gliders ,and your show
I watched this when it first released and it's still as good as the first time iv watched love you flite test. simple soaring for life
And this is your job? You guys get to have waaaayy too much fun and hilarity while working and it brings a real breath of fresh air to the show every episode. I must admit David does cracking me up, he's a big kid lol. You guys ever visit Scotland come see us.
More glider coverage please. This is great.
loved the footage from the hex! looking forward to the kit for josh's glider!
Awesome project! You could have designed the wing with a higher aspect ratio and rounded wingtips in order to make the glider slightly more efficient. But that's just my opinion.
are there plans for david's glider that he chucks away in the beginning?
You guys brought up the Gentle Lady. That was my dad's first glider build. I still have the plans for it. Been thinking about building it again and using a brushless in the power pod. He built it probably 35 years ago and only flew it twice. Sadley it's been destroyed in moving accidents.

My and my dad's first glider was also a Gentle Lady. We crashed it to smithereens, fixed it and repeated again and again. Such fond memories.
Thank you for making the ft motor glider. I can't wait for the build video and plans.
Great fun to watch guys! The skill, technology and your on screen chemistry is a joy to behold, even my non geek wife enjoyed it, Thank you.
As a glider pilot irl, I love how you do cool rc glider videos!
One of my favorite videos. Good fun!
These birds are great.
Glider can be simple and perform well.
Davids beast is awesome!
Please tell us more about that glider David is holding in the beginning, please David, you showed that on purpose, just tell us what you did :-P . maybe on your Rcexplorer channel if it's not so good for ft. But please.......
I would love to see this! I have a lot of fun with 3D and speed stuff, but my favorite plane is currently an electric 30 size (55 inch) trainer!
That climb out with the hex at the end was awesome, you should end more of your episodes with it!
I like these glider videos. It was cool at the end when yaw were trying to hit eachother
Ready for the plans and build video.......Love it !!
Loved it. Thanks guys, rock on.
Looking forward to glider build video and plans.
Yes david, RC towing is awesome, but you dont need a pure glider to tow! I tow up my Bixler 2 with a 1400mm hobbyking cub! The tow release is cheap and also from hobbyking

That's quite a battle. Like watching someone being savaged by a duck.
Great vid. I hope you post a build video for the small glider. It looks and flys great.
What is that v-tailed miniature Bird-of-Time David was holding at the beginning. I've seen pretty much all of your videos but have not come across that one. Would like to know more about it.
"I landed it" 😆😆😆

Please more challenges! I love these vids
PLANS PLANS PLANS!! NOW NOW NOW!! :D i am so excited for this! Already sitting ready with the foam boards and hotglue!
Moar Challenge/Build-off videos! These are great!
Great Video as always. I wait for the build of Josh's glider, looked like my old Questor and really want to see the Bird of Time looking one that David had. Please a review and build of that one also.
Thanks for another awesome vid!

And *NOTE* for David
Thanks for the help for figuring out what motor & esc combo with the programme. it has proven to be a solid setup, and fast!
It's Adam's Readi-board, The big shop in the US who sells it is called the DollarTree. Other brands like Elmer's are comparable to what the guys use.
I had a gentle lady as well. Stuck an .049 on a pod. Flew that for a long time. Used a 2 channel cox Sanwa radio.
Thanks guys, that was a great episode.
Are there plans for David's v tail glider he chucks in the beginning
What was it?
mcvoss67 we are all wondering
david needs to come back!!!!
Wouldn't it be nice to find a diy kit that compares to expensive gliders on the market? The glider you quickly tossed aside looked promising; with it's carbon arrow tail boom and foam wings. I still look for "competitive" DLG gliders that won't break the bank.
This i probably my favorite FT episode, more challenges!
one of the most fun videos i've watched... nice that you guys have fun with rc... Glider combat, awesome idea... Make another project for COMBAT ONLY...ALL OUT FOAM WAR!!
A very classic episode!
You should make a Foam DLG Swappable! That would be a great way to get into Discuss Launch Gliding. Thanks for all you do!
This is how to be entertaining and funny without trying to be a comedian like many people try to do and fail miserably! #teamdavid
I love David's Goliath! I'm gonna go get some arrow shafts, packing tape, and go to town!
How is this not a TV show? I love your videos!
challenges are so much fun, more plz! :D
I have killed all of my blue wonders, so this is a great alternative to the versa wing. Really interesting launch methods. I will start work on a design that takes the best of both of your gliders. You can tell that David has the mind of an aeronautical engineer and not a structural one!
The glider dogfight was pretty awesome
Challenge: what the biggest wingspan plane you guys can make?? no limit on motors! like this beast, but at least twice as big!
Greetings guys...
I am a new owner of the Dynam 1400 P-51. Sweet plane and it's a dream to fly. thanks for all the video help and see you on the runway.
Keep up the great work, you guys keep it fresh and fun.
Wayne - N8VBW
I heard it. And if you havent yet i think it would be cool to have a competition about who can make the best flying car
Excellent episode! Really enjoyed it!
What an awesome team !, good luck
What foam did you guys use? Is it depron or an other foam?
Greetings to all of you from the south of Bavaria
Louis
very nice Glide combat! "I landed it!" hahaha amazing
Joshs plane is awsome! Is it possible to get the plans for the glider david showed up at first? It looks so great!!
Have to comment 1 more time. Nice flying David. It was pretty scary to see the plane stall right above the ground
Long anticipated. Great video
Challenge requests : One sheet (excluding powerpod) glider or a multiple sheet folding wing plane :)
greetings from Germany , love your show :)
Bout time you did another challenge :)
This was a fun video. Thanks guys.
how about going "old school" and building a couple of nitro planes?maybe an ".049 foam board speed/endurance challenge" with 2 identical babe bee or dragonfly motors.
Man, this inspired me, I will buy a couple of cheap quadcopters and salvage the parts to build some awesome gliders :)
Great video guys!!! You guys rock! Congratulations to over 97,000 subscribers! May God bless all of you! Y'all are keeping the life in RC alive. :-)
Can't wait for the plans for the glider to come out!
Great fun guys! More indoor flying please. :-) Show us planes that can fly in small area's. THANKS!!!
Great stuff! Keep up the fun and inspiration! I need to order one of those sweatshirts it's getting cold...
I love this hobby... if only i had the money to build what ever i want
FliteTest has some fantastic budget aircraft on their store. Try the trainers or Mighty Minis; they are my favorite! They make it easy so even the most financially challenged individuals can fly and have some fun with friends!
You can order a foam build for like 50 -30 dollars or you can head to amazon and get a 3 channel airplane for about 50-100 dollars
The Problem for me is A) money and B) i suck at building. i would love to try but A prohibits that, so ill just stick to rtr planes.
Enjam can you spend $200?
You can get a 2600mm glider that can also be a 1600mm. Wing size. You also need a charger and a battery.
Glider:$139.99
Radio:$43.99
Charger:$21.59
Battery:$12.99
I would buy 2 batteries. Longer flight time.
Buy $1 sheet of foam board that they use
Josh and Josh, we need some new faces flying planes and your both married so ask your wives to come out and fly
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
XxXxXMinecraft GamerXxXxX do you have enough x's?
Sounds like a baby powder brand
You dont have shame looooool
Solar plane: if you add a charging circuit hooked up to a photovoltaic (solar) panel and trickle charged your battery it could give you more range for a smaller cell. Just a thought, but you might end up drawing more power from the battery then the solar panel is putting in, what are your thoughts?

Samniss Arandeen That was years ago, technology is better now.
***** While solar power technology has improved over the past decade, it's vastly overestimated by most sources.
I believe a standard solar cell has a 10% effeciency, there was some work done by a uni (I think?) a couple of years ago, managed to produce a solar cell with 13% effeciency in cloudy conditions.
N NightinDale Efficiency might improve at high altitudes, no clouds, thinner air so less atmosphere to scatter sunlight.
Great episode was so much fun to watch. I was laughing hard at some points. "I landed it" lol!
"Well, Josh has a swapable towing nose..."
"I KNOW"
"I landed it."
-David Windestal
I laughed so hard!!
The pioneers of flight must be shaking their heads
love the taylorcraft in the intro and can you guys do more about gas planes like a how to series but for gas planes
"I Landed it" LOL.. Keep it up fella's. Love your Channel/
You all are awesome!!! Chad looked like forest Gump running. . So funny
Great again!
Is the DLG Style Glider fittet with a wing from Hobbyking?
What about building a 3d Micro (wingspan under 400mm)?
I would love something like that!
