Ended up putting the new SRPD25 on a black nato with a cream stripe. Something about that and the contrast with the black bezel and cream indices really sets off the blue dial. I think it's a winner.
Initially I thought this new gen is a watered down monster but after some months on consideration and deliberation, it has grown on me. It is definitely more refined and not so tool like. Very nice piece, especially like 025 with the blue dial and patina indices.
Just got an SRPD27 “Monster” today. Macys had a 50% off flash sale which made it irresistible. Sits on my wrist perfectly and just the aesthetic I was wanting.
Beautiful watches, and a very nice review of the 4th gen. However, the 3rd gen is conspicuously absent from this comparison. For me, the 3rd gen was the apex design for the original Monster case. The 3rd gen was what I wanted to see from them for years. Now 3rd gens are very difficult to find. When I first saw the 4th gen I was disappointed at the design departure. But the more I looked, the more I liked it. The 4th gen is a beautiful watch and a worthy addition to the Prospex line.

IMO The new version makes the older Monsters look tacky and dated. Saw the black 27 in person today and was blown away. Makes my old SKX007 feel like a toy.
Great video thanks. I don’t like how the fluting on the bezel which continues into the case is now tapered. The industrial architecture of the original is a design classic. It’s less monster and more Casper the friendly ghost now.
I have the seiko limited edition zimbe 13 seiko monster or the baby tuna. What ever people want to call it. I absolutely love it. I had the SRP637 but sold it for the zimbe 13. I put the gold end endmill bracelet on it and it is absolutely amazing. Number 323 out of 999.
I could SWEAR I Heard His voice either in real Radio or fictional one like in GTA Vice City or something. This voice is smooth like fine polished Gold 💪😅

Yes and I thought the monster would be huge on my small wrist and saw one in a store with the rubber band and it was gorgeous. Now I want one and why I’m looking on RUclips to find out more about the new monster.
My opinion is I bought one having never seen it before. No opinions to direct or sway or convince me one way or the other. I saw it, I tried it on, I went home with it. Its absolutely stunning... and the blue lume on this model destroys the lume on my SKX.
I like the overbuilt versions much better. If they could keep that, with the bigger cutouts and also more shiny steel, I would love it. Also would be nice with sapphire and their top movement. 💖🌠🙏
I hereby suggest to call the SRPD27 the "Guinnes Monster"! I just bought this watch an the colours of the watch the beer match perfectly - 100%! It's not a clean black, but a very dark brown, and the lume and the bezel is a very light brown-beige, Just Like the Guinnes head. Beautiful!
Neither am i a fan of the monster, but after trying it on, woh i got to have it. The 42.4mm diameter fits really well even on a small wrist liked mine 6 & 1/2 inch, either with a steel bracelet or Seiko Strap. it fits really nice..
I love the Monster! It was a watch that I was a little unsure of at first, but I’ve really grown to love it. I have a Jade 3rd gen in my collection and I think it is my favorite monster ever. The 4th gens have grown on me, but I still prefer gen 2/3 design.

I have to say that after getting my first Turtle, I've come to appreciate my 1st-gen Monster from 2004 more. I like my Turtle, but the Monster, even 1st gen, has a better crown and the bezel runs smooth like it's on ball bearings. Not even modern Seikos do that. What happened? Plus that loevely domed crystal. Man do I wish the Turtle had that.

I own 4 Monsters. From the Original Orange Monster SKX 781 to a 100th Anniversary Blue Monster. A Modded SRP 581 Florida Arctic Monster and a 100th Anniversary Blue Baby Tuna Monster. I will take a pass on this New one. Maybe Get the Emerald Monster and the last 100th Anniversary Land Monster. Then I own all three,. An amazing video. Orange Monster is the only real iconic watch for me from the whole lineup and what they made this year blue dial in the black bezel I think it’s very poorly chosen colours as well as dials became looking like its Orient XL-very boring I only wish that Seiko will not screw up Seamaster as well as the turtle as these two are my favourites.
Great video. This new design is too far a departure from the original monster’s design in my opinion. Definitely keeping my 3rd generation. Unless they do a stainless steel bezel and ditch the candy bar cyclops I’ll pass on these. I highly doubt most Seiko Monster fans like this new model but I suppose it may attract some buyers who previously overlooked the Monster.
SEIKO Monsters are somewhat "brutalist" if you want to see it that way, I even thought that too before it occurred to me that this is a type of "Tiki" tech/flower, sea animal sort of design, people don't get that at first, it just lays in their subconscious.
Just purchase the 27 with silicone bracelet. It’s fantastic. I’m with you, the silicone marries perfect with this watch and it’s comfort level is off the charts. Highly recommend, so much better than the new 5 series and I picked it up for $250 + tax end of year sale.

Great review and thanks! I just got the SRPD25 and love it. I just had it sized and glad I took it into a shop to have it sized bc it looked very difficult. It has a 2 pin system and one pin is tiny. I still haven’t worn it outdoors and the lumi isn’t that bright and may need sunlight to charge it vs room light? So I was wondering if the Padi version has a brighter lumi and different color lumi or are they all suppose to be the same?
Saw both today; the lume on the PADI is whiter instead of that yellowish tint. Not sure if they differ in the dark as I saw them in the store - both beautiful, it would be hard to decide!
Can you make any recommendations about good sources to keep an eye on with regard to limited edition Seiko releases? I’m starting to grow quite fond of the Turtle and am drawn to the limited edition Turtles because of how unique they are. The problem is that by the time I find out about a particularly cool edition, they are mostly sold out and then are on the second-hand market.
It's been a while. But, another good video. I like the new monster design. I could do without the candy bar magnifier. And, i would love to see the eventual expansion or color range on the 4th gen, especially with a stainless steel (non-colored) bezel. I find the new case back more attractive as well. I love blue lume. And, if seiko does blue lume, u can bet it will be as near as good as the "strandard" green colored lume. Never owned a monster, but this would make me consider one for the first time. As with your watches, that sports 200 alpinist is pretty cool. Any difference to the "red alpinist" other than some verbage on the dial and perhaps a little more red accents on the red alpinist? I think your sports 200 is maybe nicer jn the fact it looks cleaner.

It's too bad its so lame now. 2nd Gen was the best looking to me. I have all generations (9 total) (Orange, blacks, white mods, jade, blue coral and frost) but no interest in these. Poor movement, Integrated endlinks into bracelet isn't so bad but the black bezel and candybar/cyclops needs to go! The smooth bowl-like case back and sides are a huge disappointment as well. No need for day display. I do like that blue dial color....the one thing it has going for it.
Fourth generation is beautiful. Wear at work, night out, weekend, fits any environment. Build is awesome. Seiko does it again!

Anyone find a Legit Seiko silicon strap in Blue that fits the SRPD25? I believe it needs to be 20mm and all I can find is a 22mm.

This video has single handidly changed my mind to go for the black instead of the blue one.
Not to favorable about the new Seiko Monster with the cyclops day-date window.
Really? Seems to take away some of the dial space.
Easily remedied by swapping it with sapphire crystal from crystaltimes.
