It definitely gives me thought... This is like college level critiquing and critical thinking here. I enjoy it. Always leaves me thinking and wondering... Far deeper than it did just reading the series and warching the movies. And I LOVE when JK Rowling confirms and/or denies theories...
Salazar Slytherin created the Chamber of Secrets to teach the dark arts but when the other founders wanted mudbloods he put the basilisk in and sealed it.
I honestly love everything that mentions the chamber of secrets and the Gaunt family. It's all very fascinating since the Gaunt family appeared very little in the books and not even once in the movies despite being such an important part of Voldemort's story. Corvinus also seems like a very interesting character.
What if Voldemort had IGNORED the prophecy completely? When Snape tells him about it, he just doesn't consider it remotely possible that anyone could ever rival what he has become, and so he never goes after the Potters or Longbottoms.
I love your channel because you teach me things about Harry Potter even though I love it! You are an inspiration to many people. I also follow you on Twitter. Keep up the good work!!!!
Hmm, listening to your reasoning, I suddenly wondered: what if the locket was somehow the key to the Chamber's trapdoor before the addition of plumbing forced the change?
The guys got a pretty good voice for this type of work, definitely gotten more interested in the world of harry potter after watching a lot of your videos.
I love this question. I wonder if he lost track of it given the timing of him using it being around the time he and Lily had their falling out and him becoming a Death Eater. You also have to wonder if it was a plant for Harry to find or if it had existed on the bottom of a pile of old textbooks for years. Since students usually got their own copies before classes started, it might have been there unnoticed for a long time, whether anyone remembered it there or not. There's a lot of potential in this. In a fanfiction I wrote, I had a prior-to-HBP Snape recall it being there and letting another student (who was a prized pupil) borrow it for a short time. She copied his comments into her own book and annotated them as her own experiences and instincts dictated. His point was to encourage her to "play" with the rules to find what worked best in a given situation versus slavishly follow a recipe that might not work given, say, the condition of the ingredients she used.
I favor the theory that it simply didn't matter to him to keep track of the book. Why would it. Most of the book was just simple doodling instructions on various potions and potion making. Nor was the instructions for Septumsempra spell needed anymore after he perfected the spell and knew it by heart. He probably brought it in when he started teaching for a students who didn't have thier books.
@@bruceleeror Harry wasn't even going to take potions that year because Snape was supposed to be teaching it and Snape didn't take anyone under an O or EE in 6th level potions. Remember Snape got to teach DADA and Slughorn was hired. That is a pretty big stretch that everything would fall into place so that Harry would get that particular book.

I have an interesting idea from some comments that I read. Do a video on Snape leaving his potions book in the cupboard. My theory is he got distracted and left it. It shows he was a very serious student. How did he know how to make corrections. The corrections may have been adjustments for the local climate and local ingredients as the book was written by a Castelobruxo professor in Brazil. Snape was after all a potions genius.

Love the video and like the topic never really thought about if the chamber was opened. Chamber of Secrets is one of my fav books great video, love them all!
So I'm assuming the sinks drainage system was already there before it became a bathroom? Bc whoever built it would've found the chamber. Unless there were that many tunnels leading off from the drainage system that they were ignored before building was complete and the sinks entry was bewitched to open only by parsel tongue? But even then people mustn't have searched very hard over the years bc they would've noticed that this particular spot wouldn't open.. Like what if the drain was blocked and needed maintenance but nobody could get in 😂 Perhaps the pipes have a charm on them lol. & the pipes must be massive for a Basilisk to move around in them without drawing attention lol like how did it eat? ×things that I wonder* 😂
I like it how you ask a question, answer it yourself and then get a new question leading from it and answer the next and use “lol” in between. I like it cuz that’s exactly what I do lol. 😂
Did the books ever say how Tom Riddle tracked down the entrance to the chamber outside of him saying it took him 5 years to discover the chamber? Or that he knew almost every secret of Hogwarts? That would be such a cool video breaking down the bread crumbs Riddle followed for him to end up im that girls bathroom to discover the Chamber itself
this is a very interesting video with interesting content I always wondered why Salazar slytherin had chosen to leave the chamber of secrets inside a girls laboratory and this explains a lot thanks :)
Wonder why Harry didn’t choose the chamber of secrets as DA:s headquarter. I mean no one else than Harry could open it so Umbride would have never found it.
Wow, that is actually so smart lol. I guess it is a little inconvenient to get out of there though. Not to mention the corpse of a basilisk and a giant Slytherin head staring at you next to a pool of a seemingly very deep pool of water would probably be off putting to some students lol.
Hey Dean your channel and two others that I really have come to appreciate and deserve my support on patreon, but I live in the midwestern part of the us and we cannot get warm weather here and I won’t start my summer job til it warms up, hopefully heat is coming
From what i understood from this vid he technically didnt open it just enchanted the plumbing system and i saw people sayibg harry knew parseltoung due to being a horcrux my theory is he know it from bloodline since he and voldemort are descendant of the 3 brothers
Nope, Dumbledore says "It's Voldemort's own fault that you understand the snake-like language that he uses." Dumbledore knew everything about Voldemort and Harry, and he was sure that it was Voldemort's curse that planted a part of his soul into Harry and Parseltongue with it. The fact that Harry can speak Parseltongue is actually one of the important lessons in the story. It's a lesson about fear. Dictators deal with fear and they die by fear. Voldemort fears certain things so much that he actually makes them happen. He fears that Harry might bring him down, so much so that he tries to kill him when he's still a harmless baby - and by that, he gives him the power to speak Parseltongue = destroy him.
Part of me wonders how accurate it is that Slytherin's intentions with the basilisk was to kill off the muggle-born students. We know that muggles hunted magical folk and that the difference in population size is drastic. I believe it's canon (though could be mistaken) not that he thought muggle-borns were _unworthy_ of learning magic but rather that they were _untrustworthy_ due to their connections to people that wanted to do the magical community harm. So I think the basilisk was meant not to target muggle-born students specifically but rather anyone who was a potential risk to the safety of the magical community. I think it was simply time that turned a fear of muggles (and muggle-borns by proxy) into distain and prejudice towards muggle-borns and half-bloods. I think the notion of blood purity started from a place of self-preservation but ended somewhere very different
I assumed from the books that the basilisk was there to target the muggle-born students specifically. But you're right, it was a safety precaution. It's just that for Slytherin, "anyone who is a potential risk to the safety of the magical community = muggle-borns". Slytherin had a purely practical reason not to trust muggle-borns (though he overdid it with wanting to kill them all...) but later, over the years, it got twisted into an ideology.

Perfect and interesting, I personally think it was many times when chamber was opened, but when tom Riddle opened it at 1942 then someone died, before that it was not victims, and also, ginny weasley opened chamber in 1993 under the control of lord Voldemort
Yes there was someone else before Tom would have opened the chamber of secrets and killed many mugabones in 1810 me Donovan crowder aka shadow the purple batpony/vamppony son of nightmare moon and air of Salazar slytherin 🐍💚🐍💚
i have a question . If a muggle and a witch/wizard got married, is it possible that they have a muggle child or do they just have a witch/wizard or squib?
Nosheen Alam it wouldn’t be a muggle if it didn’t have any magical abilities it would be a squib because it has magical relatives (squibs are muggles but are just called squibs)
Totally :-) But good things live long, take the Lord of the Rings that was published in the 1950's, or Sherlock Holmes who was created in the 1890's :-)
I would imagine Boot Family and the Calderon-Boot family of America know of the Chamber of Secrets as do the descendants of the squib Martha Steward know of the chamber as well as they are either blood related or adopted by the Gaunt Family
I always wondered why Voldemort didn't reopen the Chamber of Secrets when he attached himself to Professor Quirrel, it would have terrorized and potentially killed those he saw as unfiit to study magic as well as serving as the perfect distraction, allowing him to more easily focus on stealing the philosophers stone.
The way the chamber was set up, I wouldn't be surprised if there were an "army" who used the chamber as a meeting place. Considering Grindewald and his army.... Then the Dark Army... Is an over-arching theme. A broad level of classism that existed throughout the ages. The evil banded together to plot their moves. The good banded together to stop them. Some of these battles were more legendary than others...
It is very strange that three 12 year olds, solved the mystery; Hermione just went to library searched some books and knew it was Basilisk in the chamber, it's stare kills people and rooster' crow is fatal to it. And Harry after realizing moaning Myrtle was the first victim 50 years ago, Harry could easily locate the entrance to the chamber and sink with serpent imprint. Dumbledore knew where Myrtle died, it wouldn't have been difficult for Dumbledore to locate the entrance of chamber, and in half blood prince he said he understood parseltongue, even Ron was able to open the chamber in deathly hallow, imitating parseltongue. So , I think 50 years ago, Dumbledore could have realized that moaning Myrtle died in the entrance to the chamber of secret, he could have opened it and send some roosters or send his phoenix to kill it or somehow magically block the room forever. Dumbledore who was so sharp, that would have made much more sense, then him being in sideline not knowing anything, students being petrified one after another and just beaming at Harry when Harry come back killing the monster and saving Ginny

and in world, there wouldnt be a chosen one, meaning noone who can defeat Voldemort lol
xcpt he believed and thus lead to his own doom.
So he himself lead to him to do death.
Then the prophecy wouldn't have been fulfilled. It was a self fulfilling prophecy so by trying to stop it he caused it to come true.

I would imagine Boot Family and the Calderon-Boot family of America know of the Chamber of Secrets as do the descendants of the squib Martha Steward know of the chamber as well as they are either blood related or adopted by the Gaunt Family
Mathieu Leader It would be nice if an American Gaunt rise up & overthrow MUCSA.
Who opened the chamber of secrets before Tom riddle?
=ThE diReCToR
I always wondered why Voldemort didn't reopen the Chamber of Secrets when he attached himself to Professor Quirrel, it would have terrorized and potentially killed those he saw as unfiit to study magic as well as serving as the perfect distraction, allowing him to more easily focus on stealing the philosophers stone.
He probably wasn't strong enough and if he would the Basilisk would have killed Quirrel and Voldemort
Love the new intro mate!!
Yes! I'm so excited to watch this!

Love the animation.
Great Vid Dude
