Any string instrument with strings is basically just a weird shaped guitar, the differences are how many strings it has, how many frets if any, how it and how it resonates. A lot of instruments are extremely similar but have unique sounds, this cover wouldn't be as cool if it was a guitar, upright bass, and soprano sax.

Bards had nothing to do with the renaissance era. Renaissance was more into Classical music, I won't get deep into what style of classical it was at that precise moment of history because I am not quite sure about that but I know it wasn't bards playing music. At least they were not what was considered "popular" at the time

@@Daddy_Dagoth That's not quite true - modern notation is only from that period onwards, but there *IS* earlier notation, but it's not *as clear* as to what was intended. There's a lot of earlier manuscripts with ecclesiastical singing in them, but the earlier form of notation is not as detailed/informative as modern notation. There are also treatise on music theory from earlier and other forms of musical information that makes it possible to have some idea, even if we'll likely never quite get it exactly as it was. We don't have 'no idea' - we have some pretty educated guesses, but we just don't have the same level of verisimilitude possible with later pieces
oh COME ON this is too good. Even if you try your hardest, it doesn't feel out of place in a medieval setting. It feels completely natural, like he just made the song from scratch with those instruments. Even the heavy/chugging parts seem so smooth and well thought out.
