Fred is adorable! I got my first Syrian (been wanting one since I was a kid!) recently and he's insanely tame and friendly. He's a longhair which is my favorite fur type, and he's a light color too which I also think is the cutest coloration. I gotta say there's something about old rodents like Pumpkin that I absolutely adore ... Their faces are just so sweet. Can I ask how you made the front portion of the Critter Nation bottom "tray" (not sure what to call it)? I would loooove to do this with a Critter Nation someday.

My hamster was not a burrower also, until I made a tunnel for him. Since then he is always in his burrows. only comes out like 4 to 6 hours every night
Pumpkin looks almost exactly like my male Syrian hamster named Wilber! I got him last Monday, and I'm going to start taming him tomorrow! Fred is adorable and I agree white Syrians are so cute! ❤️

Hi! I might be getting a hamster soon, most likely a winter white, but that's not certain yet. I already have two cages I could use as its enclosure. Their dimensions are (l,w,h) 91×41×45cm (578 sq on) and 99×51.5×36cm (790 sq in) . I'm having trouble deciding which one would be better, since one has more floor space but doesn't have much space for bedding, while the other has more height, but less floor space. Could I get some opinions from more experienced hamster keepers? :)

Awwh pumpkin is so gorgeous it's such a shame they get tumors and don't live very long. I haven't had a hamster for about 7 years since getting my cat because she'd just pester them too much. We have an old rescue guinea pig that my son's recently become obsessed with making salads for. I'm considering rescuing a pair of bunnies when she goes.

Your hammy won’t burrow if you don’t give them enough bedding,, so if you added bedding, then he would burrow! Hamsters have a natural instinct to burrow, so your hammy probably just doesn’t have enough bedding. Syrians need AT LEAST 4 inches of bedding! Fred is adorable. 💕
This is honestly so funny because I got 3 Russian dwarf hamsters today. Have a question, what type of sand should I use for them? I can’t find any safe sand at the pet store except the chinchilla sand but I heard it’s unsafe now so what should I use?
Colleen Renee good job on keeping them separate even tho they’re dwarfs btw! I’ve rescued most of my hamsters and 2 of my dwarfs were already together, so they stayed together for abt a month with me... until I saw them fighting. It’s really not worth it to keep dwarf hamsters together and I’m not gonna try it again lol it’s way less stressful now
My daughter Kelly got busted when she was 6.. with a pizza she hid between her bed mattresses. It was petrified. I still give her a 'hard time' about that. I hope to GOD you didn't do the same with little creatures! I have a feeling you hid little creatures in your room. lol

Try putting a Hind out in the sand bath. He will use it more because he will feel more safer!

How long did it take to tame him? We are going through the taming process it’s been 2 weeks, should I be trying hold him yet?
One of our previous hamsters also had a tumor on his neck. He died at around 2 years old though, and lived a pretty happy life :3

big enough so his back doesn't curve! my syrian is small and is ok on a 8 inch wheel, but if he were bigger, it would curve his back.
