It will keep them out of your live stock. How many million deer do you think there are in America? Not only was that what it sounded like, That's exactly what it was! Wait till you see the tree that's 10 inches around at the base whipping around like it's in a tornado, But there's no wind! My personal guess is turkey (turkey sleep in trees), owl (listen to barn owl sounds) or like someone else's mention fishercat. We hear crazy night sounds in Vermont and typically they are just the native animals and birds. We know because we have trail cameras all over. Best to you and yours 😊
The way those trees are are signs of big foot, Trees swirled together or stacked on top of each other Or trees blocking a trail and even seeing trees snapped in half. The clucking noises and this is just my opinion I think that’s their way of communicating w each other. Behind my dads house there’s all those signs I mentioned and I was out there in the woods by myself in broad daylight in the summer I was approached by a big foot. At the time I didn’t know what it was so I ran away and it didn’t follow me or make any noises or chase me. But before I noticed it. It was definitely watching me for a few minutes bc just before I seen it I heard something running in the bush towards me & I thought it was just my dogs so I ignored it then I started getting curious where my dog was & I seen this HUGE black figure w huge shoulders standing behind a tree staring at me. It was bigger then I human. so I ran away tripping over everything n it left me alone. Sorry for the long read but that was my story 😊
Yeah late and night when everything is quiet.....noise travels so far and is many times louder than day. Voices can travel for miles. a yell many more miles and it often echoes through the night....sounds are close but could be far.
If your new neighbor is removing trees the work could be forcing wildlife changes. The same reason animals come close as cougars, deer, elk, coyote do come into residential areas. Why not, humans are invading their homes. They are all about survival and territory. Perhaps send that footprint photo out to fish+game and bigfoot investigators too. Be interesting to know their response. That property has been very interesting with discoveries.The light that went over the house could of been a search and rescue or maybe some wildlife/forest type research going on. The public doesn't always hear of everything. The place looks great, wish i had your know-how and strength.

The "whoop" sound That they make is very close. They are not as gregarious as bears, But they are even more formidable. They break trees , 10 to 12 inches around, off 12 and 15 feet above the ground, Rip them out of the ground, Invert them, And jammed them back into the ground like a fence post! If you went to dig one out, It would be jammed into the ground approximately 4 feet! They have power that makes a strong man look weak. Generally however, they seem content to just be left alone. I live in the Pacific Northwest where they are nearly as common as the rain. Here, The Indians will laugh at you for not believing!
