There once was a T-shirt that said" After 67 they stopped making Corvettes, everyone has a favorite one. But I will agree with you on one thing...I like the Cat better than a new Corvette
I dont like the C6 and the C7. They are Corvettes, but i dont like them. Okay. C6 have a cool Rear, and both Cars have a great Sound. But in 2020 they ACTUALLY stop building Corvettes.
Sadly, that cat was probably abandoned there / "dropped off" by its owners as unwanted, and was trying to buddy up to Hoovie so he'd take it home with him, the poor little guy.
In today’s episode of Hoovies Garage we look at the Corvette before emissions restrictions of the 1970’s turned it into one of the biggest CATastrophes in American car history
"There was nothing else that looked anything close to this" -- well, except the 1968-73 Opel GT. I used to refer to mine as a Corvette that was left in the dryer too long.
I think the C7 vettes have taken a step in the right direction and they blend the iconic design and joy of driving with the spirit of a true sports car, that the very early vettes set out to accomplish. The design of the C3 was easy on the eyes and had a nice geometry and the engine note was impressive. The fiber glass body was a death trap and cracked as it aged, however. The new Corvettes have improved safety standards and advanced engineering with unsurpassed performance specs, from previous generations. All in all, it finally comes down to personal taste and affordability, in the final decision, in choosing the right Corvette. .
Corvettes are still Fiberglass and some carbon fiber. I have owned a 69, 85, 94, and 95. The 94 and 95 were both excellent daily drivers. There is high speed crash of a mid 90's corvette and the driver lived. They are actually moderately safe. The Fiberglass is thick. My 69 was a drag car and it had no cracks in the body, so don't know why you think they are weak.
I used to have a 1980 Vette. Yes, it was Malaise Era, but the drug dealers who owned it before me took care of that. They got rid of all of the smog controls, bored out the 350 engine to 383, replaced the automatic transmission with a Muncie 4 speed, and made a ton of other changes. It put out about 400 HP. Of course, what Hoovie says about being slow enough to let you run through the gears and not be going fast enough to put you in jail didn’t apply. You had to shift from 1st to 2nd at 55 mph. Third? Damned if I know. It still had the malaise era 85mph speedometer. And of course it was beautiful. Mine was red with a white interior. Damn, I miss that car.
Agreed. I'm hoping there's housing near by where he/she came from. It's definitely not feral or it would never have acted as it did, so it's used to people. Unfortunately, some people have bad habit of dropping unwanted/inconvenient pets in places like parks, leaving at the mercy of the elements, accidents. animal attacks, or psychopathic humans. So it's hopeful such a sweet cat has, or finds, a good home with loving humans.
'It' -> You are an animal, but idk maybe you're one of those people who don't identify with a gender and therefore won't class other animals in genders (which makes no sense), I won't judge you, you little special snowflake.
The C3 is the most iconic corvette. Corvettes still follow the basic styling theme but the split window C2 gets my vote for the coolest Corvette of all time.
68 to 72, why did you stop at 70? the 71 is an exact replica of the 70 and I think the 72 has amber turn signals... as for horsepower, that is not relevant anymore because I don't know of a 47 year old corvette that hasn't been rebuilt and pushing north of 300hp easily. So...best c3's?? 68 to 72
I always roll my eyes at the C3. It's a bit unfair, but whenever someone says "I own a corvette stingray" and "not a new one" in the same sentence, I immediately think "wow someone found a couple thousand dollars under their meth lab to buy a 1979 automatic with 160hp; good for you, you've accomplished something and are even humble enough to try to brag about what a garbage car you bought". When someone says "I bought a C7 Stingray" or "C2 Stingray", I immediately give the Jeremy Clarkson "yes.." look of approval. When someone says they bought a C1, I melt..
I completely agree with you on all of that. The C1-C4 just have so much more character than the C5+. And it's just going to become more generic now; the next gen will be mid-engined.
That comment aged well as the new mid engined is really looking like a demo version of Ferrari or Lambo.. Pretty nice but still not a Ferrari or a Lambo when looking at this one you like it for what it is and is actually very cool!
I thought the c5 was the last modern Corvette to actually look like a Corvette and was an improvement over the c4. The new midengined Corvette is cool, but it looks too much like a Ferrari or Lambo. They could have at least given it round tail lights.
the cat's intervention is great :-) also, kudos to Hoovie for managing to do most of the video without losing his focus ; must have been the time when Corvettes came with a cat, but not the atalytic converter that follows, only the cat ;-)
C3's are my favorite Vette! I just wish California never got their dick in the door and ruined the late gen ones with the severely under-powered engines :(
I find it funny how people equate emissions with bad cars- later sports cars have more power and speed than pre-emissions cars in the 60's and still conform? It's more like American car companies were stubbornly bullish about not needing to, and when smog became a public concern, they were too arrogant to try to work around new constraints. Over time things got even faster, because their competition embarrassed them on relative output, so I blame shitty cars on shitty car makers, not shitty rules. That's the equivalent of losing at a game and saying you don't like that game anyway.
But because America, you can go rip it off, slap a massive carb on top and mod it and make more horsepowers and no one really cares. errrm spring to mind Roadkill episodes. or swap a new engine into it and do the same and make even more horsepowers.
usually if a cat is nice and walks up to people being all happy and nice then it has a home near by and is just running around. theres one like that by my house that i pet some days
OMG! I love this video. This guy could not have expressed by thoughts any better. I've owned only 2 Corvettes in my life. The first was a 1973 454 Roadster which I drove for 40-years. After health forced me into an automatic I moved to an 82 Collectors which isn't even 25% if what my '73 was but it's still a C3 and recognizable as a Corvette even by todays kids. Long live the C3 Corvette!
That cat was f'n adorable, and loved Hoovie. He/She was placing it's scent all over his legs, and marking him as his Master. Seems as though it was just a lost, lonesome kitty in search of a friend, or new owner HAHA! C3 was a nice model, especially with the introduction of the LS6 454 big block. I've owned a C6, and truly enjoyed it. Once you get into a Corvette, it's like joining a family. Save the wave!
I think the C4 is when the Corvette started drifting into its midlife crisis phase, and then the C5 and C6 were totally midlife-mobiles. However, in my opinion, I think the C7 is a great step in the right directing. Sure it isn't perfect, but I think it definitely shed some of its midlife crisis association while still retaining a distinguishably corvette look.

That cat... completely stole the show.
Totally agree! Me thinks Hoovie has a new BFF
That cat was the best part of the video!
Show what show?
No doubt!
That cat kept me laughing
I bought the cheapest cat in America
Dfekt Nsc I pay you if you take mine
LMAO!
I've also got two that I would pay your $100 to take.
And I will point out its features and its quirks, and take it for a test drive. And then, I will give it a DougScore.

That cat could probably be a better automotive RUclipsr than vehicle virgins
Strongly Agree!!!!
Matthew I actually don't mind his reviews. It's the cancerous vlogging and clickbait that's absolutely taken over his channel that I can't stand.
KentB27 yes 100 percent. His channel used to be so good and then once he moved to LA it all went downhill.
