DIMASH was an overnight sensation when 600 million Chinese shut down the Chinese internet when getting on line to find out more about DIMASH. Next day he had to have bodyguards everywhere he went, it was literaliy stardom for DIMASH overnight. Practically everyone in China knew who he was after this one performance; and he has been famous there every since.

This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

He was actually a wild card. They had him go first, not expecting much. He wasn't supposed to be so amazing! This was his first performance on the show. He was the youngest contestant ever. Can you imagine having to go after him? I would have just packed up and gone home rather than follow him. He couldn't win, because he wasn't born in China. They actually apologized and changed that rule after that season.

That was a lovely reaction to "our" dimash. Of course I liked and subscribed and I hope you will do a lot more of Dimash. His diversity in range and genres assures you will never be bored. He just did a duet with one of the most famos tenors still alive, Placido Domingo and it is absolutely beautiful. And at his concert in Hongkong he did 2 new amazing songs. Unfortunately they aren't officially released yet. Dimash is just the best and I am so happy that I am able to go to his next 2 concert in Budapest, Hungary and Istanbul, Turkey. The last one is on his birthday 24. May.

As a wholly independent artist it takes a lot of people continuing to share his amazing talent and wonderful personality with the world to make sure that everyone gets to enjoy this like you do! Now you should have him watch "Stranger" for the contrast on the vocals, and make him watch "The Story of One Sky" because he said he wouldn't cry... I want to see him cry lol.
