+Darkavenger_13 Yeah, but that is not the worst. Try going to germany or France or maybe Italy, that is further away. And of you take the fairy boat it only tales 1,5 hours☺️☺️
Denmark is my favorite country in Scandinavia. Norway and Sweden was great, but something about Denmark was charming. The Little Mermaid statue was also lovely. I would love to visit Denmark again.
You failed to mention that Tivoli, is the 2nd oldest amusement park in the world, and that the oldest amusement park in the world is also found in Demark. (Dyrehavsbakken) even though you mentioned Jørn Utzon, he isn't really the most famous person out of Denmark, even though Sydney Opera is on UNESCOs World Heritage, you don't normally talk about the person who build it, Niels Bohr was an expert in Quantum Physics, won the Nobels price in 1922, was famous for "winning" debates against Albert Einstein, and was part of the Mahatten-project, he was one of the reasons the atomic bomb was created! Copenhagen (Denmarks capital) has the oldest and longest walking street in the world, in Denmarks historical capital Roskilde, you can find one of the oldest Gothic Cathedral in the world, where 36 Kings and Queens of Denmark are burried, including one of the most powerful women in all of Europe, Margrethe I of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. (Finland, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands included) Harold Bluetooth, the 2nd oldest king of Denmark is also burried here! Denmarks biggest rivals are the Swedes, Denmark and Sweden has been to more wars against eachother more than any other nations in the world. However, now the rivalry is mostly about football.
I am astounded for many reasons: All educational videos and/or videos with a handful of facts commonly consists of Lego; Legoland; Copenhagen's amusement park; The Little Mermaid; Famous actors; Famous inventors; Famous singers; Famous players and so forth - though out of all these instances above, no one knows that the popular Chat & Call/Video Call/Group chat social media application also known as Skype, was invented by Danes?
+Боян Петров What are you talking about? That is an obvious lie. Please tell me where you learned that. Back in the past the danish vikings could go to jail simply for touching a woman. I do hope you are a troll and that you dont actually believe what you are saying.
Viktorin DK I dont, i was pissed off by scandinavians for a good reason! However there are many reports of rappings in the internet and medias for your part of Europe! Did you honestly believe that the foreigners keep your laws especially muslims?
Боян Петров Not everybody follows the laws and that is a fact, but it is true that you hear alot about rapings nowadays. Good to know you were lying for good reason than not knowing why you wrote such a comment.
More facts not mentioned yet (i think): 1. Danish company "Mærsk" is the biggest shipping corporation in the world. 2. Danish Novozymes (a subsidary of Novo Nordisk) accounts for 53% of the worlds total enzyme research and production. 3. There are nearly 4 times as many Pigs as there are People in Denmark at any given time. We love pork! Needless to say we're also the country with the highest pork meat consumption per capita in the world.
Mh... I'd say Hand ball is more our national sport, since it's partly invented in Denmark and we've had way more wins on that account, both in male and females handball ;) We do bike a lot - we're a great biking nation and yes, our cuisine is magnificent! You didn't mention Danish and danish butter cookies, tsk, tsk...
Dude we have a tvshow for americans who wants to visit Denmark and try out their danishness, and also figure something out about their danish anchestors :D it's called "Alt for Danmark" (Everything for Denmark)
Once you have mastered the “Ice Queen” look, prepare to completely wipe it off your face once someone starts talking to you. Danes may not look approachable, but if you get the nerve to ask for directions or to just start a conversation, they are the freaking best. Danes are the nicest, funniest and happiest people I have ever met. (For real. Denmark is ranked the Happiest country in the world right now. The US is 26th.) So wear that death stare, but you better be all love underneath you if want to truly look (and act) like a Dane.
The danish word "Hygge". It is difficult to translate into one word. It is like a state of mind, involving lots of candles, being together with friends, watching a movie, having sweets and snacks, having a nice dialog, felling good an warm, drinking something hot like coffee or hot chocolate.

Hey great video! It was pretty fun and interesting to watch. I know it's not possible to get around every aspect of our country in 8 min, but if I was to make the video I would probably also have mentioned the following: I think that one of the things that make Denmark special (not unique to my knowledge though) is our "political" system. Our healthcare and education is free. While being a student +18 y/o you are monthly being paid by the government. It is a sort of investment for the country to encourage people to get an education but also gives everyone a fair chance to get the carrier that they want regardless of their family's wealth. Also if you can't get a job, there is a "security net" that ensures that you won't have to live on the street, meaning that the government will pay you monthly until you find a job (or they give you one). Furthermore Skype was invented by a danish and a swedish guy (so I perceive Skype as danish, partly at least). As others also mention Maersk is a huge, danish international company that every dane have heard about. Noma in Copenhagen was ranked as the best restaurant in the world twice as far as I know. Denmark was also the first country in the world to legalize pornography by the way (not sure if I would mention that in the video though, lol). Also I don't know if anyone outside of Denmark are aware of the fact that Greenland (the largest island in the world (no, Australia is a continent and not an island)) is a part of little Denmark (the exact relation is a bit complicated to my knowledge though). In that context the danish vikings would be worth mentioning I would say ;)
Very interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing! Denmark's political system seems far more advanced than many parts of the world, especially the United States. I've said this before, the U.S is all about putting band-aids on problems, rather than fixing the infection.. Other countries like Denmark, Sweden and Norway, seem to get to the root of the problem to prevent things like homelessness, poverty, crime and debt from happening. Thanks again for sharing!
Top10Archive Let's hope Denmark fixes the extremist problem along with the rest of Europe. Regarding your mention of the US, I agree with you, but it's easier to fix problems when your nation is about 5-10 million people. The US has 315,000,000 people. So, it's not that easy. Don't get me wrong, I believe some European nations systems are the best in the world and wish my nation would use those as an inspiration for change. It helps when the politicians aren't so corrupt though.
Top10Archive Among celebrities you could've also mentioned Mads Mikkelsen (James Bond - Casino Royale, Hannibal etc.), Nikolaj Coster Waldau (Game Of Thrones) and Lars Mikkelsen, brother of Mads Mikkelsen (The Killing, Sherlock BBC, House Of Cards). This just being the tip of the iceberg. Many worlwide stars today come from Denmark ;) Oh, and talking about amusement parks, you forgot to mention Bakken (The Hill) that lies a little bit out of Copenhagen. It is the words oldest amusement park, with an incredible 432 years running. Awesome videos though :)
High unemployment rate? what. it was between 4 and 5 percent, which is below the natural and healthy unemployment rate. Denmark was and still is in need of workers to avoid inflation.
***** such a short trip for an american. There states are the size of denmark and many are bigger. and many need to go through 2-3 states to go to there friends place
Oh and another thing, Legoland Billund "A short drive from Copenhagen" Billund is in Jutland, Copenhagen is on Zealand. Which means to get to Billund from Copenhagen, you'd have to drive a couple hours AND cross 2 bridges, one of those bridges being one of the longest suspension bridges in the world!
M8 he said "a car trip away". It's not like u have to stay at a hotel/motel for a night, it's a 4 hour trip tops. Btw I am from Denmark so I know the distances.
@@trash_ongosh Somehow the distance from Copenhagen to Legoland seems longer, than the distance from Legoland to Copenhagen, if you know, what I mean?!
I lost my shit when he said smørbrød xD also fun fact: the name lego are the word Leg Godt put together which means "play good". Also, danish is the hardest language using the latin alphabet to learn, hence why you could pronounce any of the danish word in this video x), yet we're still the best non-native english speakers in the world!
lego land is not just a car trip away from københavn (copenhagen) it´s like a really long car trip... like you need to drive though half of denmark to get there!
clara breum Kind of funny, that the ACTUAL distance between Billund/Legoland and København/Copenhagen seems to be longer for somebody living in Copenhagen, than the other way round??!!
@@Itspiranha Why would anybody call a sport "national"?? By number of people playing it football is first, then handball and third is badminton ( only country outside of Asia, where badminton is "big"!!).
It's Lego, not Legos even the plural form is just Lego (It's a name, not just a noun after all). Also you call Legoland a car ride from Copenhagen? xD It would take several hours to drive from Copenhagen to Billund where Legoland is located. They're literally in the complete opposite sides of the country, one to the far east (Copenhagen) and the other to the far west (Billund).
In America, anything within 12 hours is considered a "car ride" :p. Didn't know that about Lego though. So you would say, "I have one lego", or "I have many lego."?
Top10Archive no cause we put the word "klods" which would be the english brick at the end so its i have 1 lego brick but many lego bricks :) and from time to time elderly also shorten it down and do say 1"lego" and 2+"legoer"
Top10Archive Like DarkWaver also said, we don't really say "En Lego" (A Lego.) We tend to say "En Legoklods" (A Lego brick). So the plural would be "Legoklodser" (Lego bricks) But since we're not the rules of the English language, it's not really up to us to determine how you pronounce it in a different language. I feel fairly certain that several other languages around the world also have their own take on it. :)
My great-grandpa was actually good friends with Ole Kirk Christiansen, the man behind Legos. My great-grandpa came from Danmark when he was in his early 20's, and lived here to raise a family with his 16-17 year old girlfriend. They later got married. Ole Kirk Christiansen then later came in contact with my great-grandpa and great-grandma to send them a bucket of Legos each year for Christmas. That came to an end when he died, but they estimated that almost 10,000 Legos were sent in the time period that they were being sent. I don't know the full story on how they became friends, as this was my grandma that told me this story.
silver dragon's colonel Sorry, I said that I had a teacher in Glasgow who got that phrase right on his first try, so not everyone fails 😊 I thought you were Danish since you used Ø 😊
Top10archieve I Wanna share some hyggelig time with you,and make a video about Canada.I see many vids about the states should do like the danes, but Im thinking the states are to big so maybe the canadisk system would be Better suited the states values etc.Canada seems like a more happy place than the states.I really Wanna go there but it seems expensive,so is there some way you would recommend on how to travel to Canada and still afford to be there for more than few weeks.Like in denmark we have places home less or other peoble in a problematik situation can sleep in Door for free.but cant stay 24/7.but open like 21.00 hours and you be waken at 7 o clock and have a hour for break fast or a bath or dry the clothes you got washed the night before.Better accomidation than the peoble who go on train travelling, which is very common for young peoble to try out.Just Wonder which towns to visit Vancouver etc. and like to hear your thoughts.now you seen Denmark. Thanks for the upload and positive feedback, nice to hear.Hope you had a great easter.which is a great time for All danes since everything closes almost and like 90% has free some days during easter.
B iggest danish invention is LEGO? get out of here, know about H.C. Ørsted. look him up, it will be worth it :) (the danes allso inventet the Telegraphone, Speaker, Sound on film and probably the most important one Insulin)
notice. Legos aren't our most successful invention. It goes without saying that the speaker is. Although we no longer really produces speakers, we did invent them in the first place, just as we created Insulin
we also invented, speakers and hearing aids, probably a little more successful I'd guess, although we don't own the rights to the products 😊 but really great video!
i Guess the invention og "speakers" is not huge enough to make this list. or Tycho Brahe who is said to be the father of modern astronomy. but Lars Ulrik haha xb
Hello, I am a refugee from Somalia and I would like to come to Denmark, to live off your benefits. I hear that the Nordic Lands give good money to those who are unemployed. I have a big family of 11(with my 2 wives) & I would like to bring with me my cousin Ibrahim and my Uncle Ikbal (with their families). In honour of Denmark (as my future homeland) I am going to name my next son Mustafa. Thanks for the information :
Im Danish and i hate Denmark. Its ALLWAYS rainy, we doesnt have warm summers, we are boring. Like if you have a wig on people look at you like you were CRAZY. I have been in LA and i had a purple wig on. People didnt look at me like i was crazy just like i was unnormal.

Viggo Morthensen is also from Denmark and is actor who has the role Aragon in "the lord of the rings". btw Lego-land lays in Billund (like on almost the other side of the contry from Copenhagen, so its not just a trip from Copenhagen!). But im also Danish and im so glad u made this video beacouse i'm thinking people don't really know stuff like this :D
Johannes Lyngby A small correction; Viggo Mortensen was born in New York City and hold a dual American-Danish citizenship. Although we're proud to call him a Dane we cannot claim all the glory to ourselves.

Christian Oskar I'm sorry to make you feel akward, but yeah I'm from Denmark :)
Christian Oskar jeg er bare vant til at skrive engelsk, at jeg glemmer mit dansk når jeg møder andre danskere :)
what is he talking about. Denmark has always remeained at a really low unemployment rate! never been high!
...I think that music just made me insane.....
HAHAHAHA
Excuse me? Football? We invented Handball, so that would obviously be our national sport.
Wow i fell verry proud by living in denmark now :D
High unemployment rate? what. it was between 4 and 5 percent, which is below the natural and healthy unemployment rate. Denmark was and still is in need of workers to avoid inflation.
Np :) Well thank you for commenting and giving us the ideas.. without viewers like you we wouldn't have a reason to make videos :)
Ah..all of those Lego memories coming back
Legoland is on the other side of Denmark its not a little trip from Copenhagen
***** such a short trip for an american. There states are the size of denmark and many are bigger. and many need to go through 2-3 states to go to there friends place
I can assure you that all those who wanted a "Top 10 Facts About Denmark" were all Danes themselves...
I forhold til afstande de nogen gange skal køre i USA, så er der faktisk ikke så langt 😊
M8 he said "a car trip away".
It's not like u have to stay at a hotel/motel for a night, it's a 4 hour trip tops.
Btw I am from Denmark so I know the distances.
f0Xy We all are in this section of the comments...
Also, danish is the hardest language using the latin alphabet to learn, hence why you could pronounce any of the danish word in this video x), yet we're still the best non-native english speakers in the world!
u know that lego in latin means in danish jeg sætter sammen and it is a leg got
godt
lego land is not just a car trip away from københavn (copenhagen) it´s like a really long car trip... like you need to drive though half of denmark to get there!
Maybe 2 hours..
Stinne Langhoff really ? your from the moon? its more like 3 hours to 3½ hours.
clara breum Kind of funny, that the ACTUAL distance between Billund/Legoland and København/Copenhagen seems to be longer for somebody living in Copenhagen, than the other way round??!!
What about danish vikings, we were actually the biggest viking country back then, we were pretty bad ass 😉
handball is the national sport
TheDanishDemon 420 No it's football/soccer. Handball was invented here but isn't our national sport.
Steve Jobs yes it is
@@Itspiranha Why would anybody call a sport "national"?? By number of people playing it football is first, then handball and third is badminton ( only country outside of Asia, where badminton is "big"!!).
Hans Christian andersen also wrote The ice queen also knowed as the popular disney movie Frozen
It's Lego, not Legos even the plural form is just Lego (It's a name, not just a noun after all).
Also you call Legoland a car ride from Copenhagen? xD
It would take several hours to drive from Copenhagen to Billund where Legoland is located.
Everything is just a car ride away in Denmark.
Yes im danish to.
So the plural would be "Legoklodser" (Lego bricks)
But since we're not the rules of the English language, it's not really up to us to determine how you pronounce it in a different language. I feel fairly certain that several other languages around the world also have their own take on it. :)
Top10Archive it is 3 hours drive, not too bad.
What about the 2 oldest funfair parks in the world?.. Bakken and Tivoli?.. :)
I have a Danish swedish farm dog🐶
Me too
pik johan Nice :)
Wtf Denmark is one of the places where the most work out of the population
You should also have mentioned Bluetooth.
Julian Nim and Skype
TheDanish Drok Jep
TheDanish Drok Skype ain't exactly invented by Danes.. it was 1 Dane 1 swede and 3 Estonians.
I don't know the full story on how they became friends, as this was my grandma that told me this story.
there is one thing i bet you americans and uk people can't say: rød grød med fløde try it out if you fail it means you can't really speak danish
Um if they are americans or from the UK then of course they can't speak danish..
Jeg havde en lærer i Glasgow der sagde det rigtigt første gang, så det er ikke alle der failer totalt 😊
Jesper Jørgensen Nemlig 😊 Der er altså nogen der godt kan finde ud af det.
i can say i barely know any word in danish so i can barely understand what you guys are saying
silver dragon's colonel
Sorry, I said that I had a teacher in Glasgow who got that phrase right on his first try, so not everyone fails 😊
I thought you were Danish since you used Ø 😊
In 1:14 was Tivoli, not Legoland
Legoland is in Billund and Billund is around 3 - 4 Hours away from Copenhagen....
Although we no longer really produces speakers, we did invent them in the first place, just as we created Insulin
we also invented, speakers and hearing aids, probably a little more successful I'd guess, although we don't own the rights to the products 😊
but really great video!
You did not mention: Denmark has never had a tornado or hurricane
The music makes me think of the South Park version of Denmark
i Guess the invention og "speakers" is not huge enough to make this list. or Tycho Brahe who is said to be the father of modern astronomy. but Lars Ulrik haha xb
Nice video 👍😁 You could have mentioned, that approximately 50% of our electrical production, comes from windmills 😉
An other fact, it takes only 7 hours in train to go from the copenhagen to skagen :)
Jamie lanister/Nicolai Costa valder is from denmark...
Im Danish and i hate Denmark. Its ALLWAYS rainy, we doesnt have warm summers, we are boring. Like if you have a wig on people look at you like you were CRAZY. I have been in LA and i had a purple wig on. People didnt look at me like i was crazy just like i was unnormal.
having one of the highest rates of unemployment? That is bullshit.
6% not high at all
You didn't mention Christiania even though its Denmark's biggest tourist attraction??? didn't know hash was a taboo here...
Funnily enough, Hans Christian Andersen is almost never called such by danes. We usually call him H. C. Andersen instead.
Denmark made up the sport Handball, thats why we are so good at it!
Denmark made bacon
You're welcome xD
In the Danish alphabet we have 3 letters that no country in the World (except Sweden) have in Their alphabet. It is: Ææ Øø Åå
Except Norway* :-) Sweden is Åå Äa Öö
**
Å/å is also used in Norwegian, Finish, Swedish, Istro-Romanian (spoken in Croatia), Walloon (spoken in Belgium) and Chamorro (spoken in Guam),
Æ/æ is also used in Norwegian, Icelandic and Faroese,
Ø/ø is also used in Norwegian and Faroese.
:-)
Lasse Hansen I wouldn't call Ä and Ö an Æ and an Ø, as it doesn't look the same. Even though it sounds the same :)
+Nicklas ibsen Norway has them as well
Why do you show Lalandia as part of Legoland, when its not!?
The bread is wrong you said it in swedish we say it rugbrød or rugbroed laying the preasure on b
Billund is more then a short car drive from Copenhagen, it's a 3 hour drive.
I Love My Country Denmark!!?
Number #2 when he said "Legoland" he ment "Tivoli"
That Legoland map is soooooo old. It doesn't look like that anymore xD
Finally i can find something about my home country
im from denmark :D jeg er fra danmark og det er fedt
heh, its always fun to hear foreigners attempt to pronounce our words
Finally Denmark get's some fucking attention.
most danish people love dogs and like ½ of the people i know have a dog
i´m Danish
or should i say
jeg er Dansk
Well! Handball is actualy a dansish invented sport! :-)
Id say, nicolai coster waldau ( jamie lannister from game of thrones ) is a tad more recognisable than lars ulrik
You didn´t say Smørrrebrød rigtigt... not a singel English person (i know) can XD
Helena Jepsen i mean right instead of rigtigt (rigtigt is right in Danish)
That awkward moment when you speak The Julekalendersk! 😂😂
+Helena Jepsen Smørrebrød, rød grød med fløde - bring it on. Just don´t ask me to say in Danish I and E correctly
It tales about 3 hours from Copenhagen / København til Billund
7:25 my uncle have one of those dogs and we come from Denmark
u forgot the danish horse as we pronounce it "knastrupperen"
Viggo Morthensen is also from Denmark and is actor who has the role Aragon in "the lord of the rings".
btw Lego-land lays in Billund (like on almost the other side of the contry from Copenhagen, so its not just a trip from Copenhagen!).
But im also Danish and im so glad u made this video beacouse i'm thinking people don't really know stuff like this :D
Johannes Lyngby Also Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, most known as Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones.
Johannes Lyngby A small correction; Viggo Mortensen was born in New York City and hold a dual American-Danish citizenship. Although we're proud to call him a Dane we cannot claim all the glory to ourselves.
i know but his name is danish and his mom is danish
København-Billund er ikke en særlig lang køretur for amerikanere, husk vi er et lille land 😊
+Johannes Lyngby it takes about 3 hours to drive from copenhagen to billund, depending on where you start in copenhagen. so yes its only a short trip.
Im Danish :D and im really happy about living here
