What we don't see anybody walking around even in the downtown area? Is it because of high crime in that city? Qs: How is crime rate, job growth and 1 bedroom or 2 bdrm rental median or avg price there? I see it's next to the boarder and also next to ocean, that should be fun city to live but due to the above Qs, I'm not sure if I should invest R.E. there then rent it out better or invest in Houston/DFW/etc.
I've been living in Beaumont for about a year and a half now and really like it. Both the town and people still have a real and authentic feel to them (unlike say Austin which has become an appalling shadow of it's former charming self). This video is unfortunately an accurate portrayal of downtown Beaumont, especially on weekends, as most business have abandoned it for more popular areas like the Westend and Dowlen Ave. My understanding is that every few years or so, the city attempts to revive the downtown which inevitably fails to gain much traction. And so the city center remains a mostly well-preserved but empty landscape. Overall crime statistics for Beaumont are quite high, which are somewhat misleading. A few pockets are extremely dangerous, which negatively impacts city wide statistics as a whole. But just as some areas have high crime, other areas have low crime.
I looks like much of the downtown area is empty because new business centers have opened in other parts of the town, which is normal. BUT, the buildings all look great, and it is just time for some new business opportunities to open up in the downtown area. Revitalize it and bring business back.
@@vlonecobi7341 Maybe ease up on the cynicism to people who are actually looking for information. Compared to Las Vegas, where I am now, it looks like a little piece of heaven! Here, you can't walk through downtown without homeless people everywhere, just laying in the middle of the sidewalks. Graffiti is everywhere.... can't have any nice looking buildings for long.
@@pixietwitch we have plenty homeless people as well most actually came from towns on the outskirts I'm sure Las Vegas has more opportunities than beaumont
@@vlonecobi7341 That's fine by me. I'll never understand why somebody would want to go around smelling like a skunk that's been rotting in the sun for a week, anyway!
So where are the people? Every video I've watched of Port Arthur looks exactly like this! Old, crumbling buildings, patched streets, no one anywhere. I mean anywhere, none, zero. So what's up w/ this place? It reminds me of one of those dystopian movies where something bad happened and everyone is either dead or has been turned into zombies who wait for the sun to set before they venture out.
I think it had to do with the part of the day I was there. It was a Saturday late afternoon. But I am only guessing because I was surprised when I was filming how empty it was.
Thank you for watching my video! If you enjoyed the video, please give it a like and subscribe to my channel for more content like this.

Appreciate your comments about downtown and your comments about Austin (the new California). Will be headed that way soon.
Is this a scene from Omega Man?
I didn't see a single person on the street

They aren't spending money on the city no there aren't new business centers they spent our tax dollars spray painting the buildings 😂

It’s a beautiful city. It’s just EXTREMELY empty. What’s that about??!
Summer on a Saturday Afternoon. I guess people are waiting till the cooler evening to enjoy what downtown has to offer.
