Any advancement against this terrible virus is a win in my book! Even if it doesnt lead to a cure it can deepen our understanding of how to treat and care for its victims. One day this virus will be gone , but we have come a long way and its no longer a death sentence.

@@marcK599. kind words, in my opinion, are the only ones humans should have with each other. I'm not so dense as to believe that's possible, but it only makes every word we do say that much more important. I hope and know that you will continue to spread kind words to your fellow man.

You might have noticed less news coverage on HIV lately, and that's largely due to some incredible milestones and breakthroughs in the pharmaceutical industry. Nowadays, individuals with HIV are being treated more like those with diabetes. By sticking to a regular health checkup routine and faithfully taking prescribed medications, it's possible to effectively manage HIV. This not only helps the immune system bounce back to optimal levels but also leads to a longer, healthier life. It's truly remarkable how far we've come! Can you believe it? From taking 30 pills a day to just one! And for those with a robust immune system, there's even the option of getting an intramuscular injection every two months. It's incredible how treatment options have evolved, making management easier and more convenient for everyone. I am sure one day a final cure will come, but will take some time HIV is a nasty virus.

That's mostly because an HIV diagnosis was changed from a death sentence to basically a chronic manageable disease after the combination pill therapy was introduced in the mid 1990's.

HIV is a big one, but if a systemic removal of viral gene removal is possible HPV and other viral infections could be cured for good as well. That would be an insane leap in general health.
