Thanks for making this video It’s good to see I’m not the only one who likes to tinker with speakers / subwoofers . Electrician by trade but do low voltage for a hobby . Thanks for getting into the nitty gritty.
Awesome, I just got the subs going after being unused for over 10 years as I lost the stupid cable. I got a db15 female solder connector Goes well with the three woofers.
I know im on an old thread but do you know or can some one share the speaker configuration for the Acoustimass 10 Series IV? There are two speakers... do they run in series or parallel?
Very helpful Video Thank You . So to clarify all the surround speakers are powered by the receiver passing through the passive crossover in the Bose and the sub is powered by the Bose amplifier through the Active Crossover in the sub fed from the sub out on the receiver ?
can you please do a video on the Lifestyle 18 model? It has a RJ45 cable input. I only need the subwoofer to work like what you did in this video thanks!
@@Letsdosomethinguseful Hi, you are amazing for this . Question, I have a accoustimass 10, series 3, with 2 woofer speakers. Some of the interior has light rust on some of the parts. Some of the pins have rust . Can i somehow bypass the pins and connect deeper into the module?

Those are cube speakers, right? you can use any speaker in home theater receivers from other brands definitively. I have the same Bose speakers in a Denon and an Onkyo receivers.
should i use same pin for 6.1 channel acoustims 16 ii ? please help, also help can i connect any oridinary speaker in boss acoustims 16 iii ? second question can i use 5.1 channel avr in the acoustimas 16 ii 6.1 channel ?
Sorry, I don't know if that is exactly the same. Second question, if you are using it just as subwoofer, yes you can. I mean, the sub output of the Home theater to the Bose subwoofer ad the satellite speakers connected to the Home theater (5.1 System)
Does the satellite speakers work? if only the sub, test the subwoofer with an ohm meter or multimeter to see if it still gives, I BELIVE ITS 2 OR 4 OHMS. IF more than that or less, there is a problem with the speaker and could have damaged the output transistors. this system has an integrated circuit for the satellites and transistors for the subwoofer. Good Luck!
@@Letsdosomethinguseful ok, I don't know anything about electronics but your video has inspired me. I got an old Bose AM6 Series III (I think the same as yours) and I want to know if the bass speaker works. I have a multimeter. Would I set the multimeter to ohms and contact the two sub pins you identified to test for resistance? And, if so, it should show 2-4 Ohms if it's working? Thank you!
I don't have an acoustimass 9 but you can search for "Bose acoustimass 9 8 din connector pinout" and it could bring the correct one for your system. Is that with a connector like DIN 8 or it is the mini Din 8?
I remember when you could build a component system using any brand and they'd all play well together... Then came Bose with proprietary connections that only work with Bose and change every time a new unit is made so even Bose won't work with Bose. Bose sucks.
Thanks for making this video

I think it will reduce the interference.

yes, 15 being the negative one.

Do you know at what frequency are Bose crossovers set for the satellite speakers? Thank you
No, I normally set the crossover to 100Hz. depending on the size of speaker.

By chance do you know the pin size so I can make a custom connection?
Sorry, I don't know it, I don't have the equipment anymore.
If it has an 's' cable what do I do
Sorry, not sure what is an "S" cable.

Just cut all wire except for phono cable done it’s working like a active sub 😂
Really? Does it work well or give the same loudness?
