We are going to decipher the pinout configuration of this Bose Acoustimass 6 (works for the 10 too) series III subwoofer box to make it work with other non branded Bose amps with out having the original cable.
Forgot to put the description of the other pins, here it is:
    1 Left -
    2 Left +
    3 Right -
    4 Right +
    5 Center -
    6 Center +
    7 not in use
    8 not in use
    9 not in use
    10 Left back (Surround) -
    11Left back (Surround) +
    12 Right back (Surround) -
    13 Right back (Surround) -
    14 Subwoofer (low level ) +
    15 Subwoofer (low level ) -
Remember that all speaker inputs must come already amplified, this box does not have amplifier for the satellite speakers, it only has filters or crossovers.
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE you put an amplified signal in the input of the subwoofer, it can burn the input preamplifier. Use only low level signal for this particular input.

    Thanks for making this video
It’s good to see I’m not the only one who likes to tinker with speakers / subwoofers .
Electrician by trade but do low voltage for a hobby . Thanks for getting into the nitty gritty.

Awesome, I just got the subs going after being unused for over 10 years as I lost the stupid cable. I got a db15 female solder connector
Goes well with the three woofers.

Very helpful Video Thank You . So to clarify all the surround speakers are powered by the receiver passing through the passive crossover in the Bose and the sub is powered by the Bose amplifier through the Active Crossover in the sub fed from the sub out on the receiver ?

Those are cube speakers, right? you can use any speaker in home theater receivers from other brands definitively. I have the same Bose speakers in a Denon and an Onkyo receivers.

Sorry, I don't know if that is exactly the same. Second question, if you are using it just as subwoofer, yes you can. I mean, the sub output of the Home theater to the Bose subwoofer ad the satellite speakers connected to the Home theater (5.1 System)

Hi Bro, I have one AM6 series 3, but subwoofer speaker no work, could you guide me how to fix this issue? Many thank for your advices. Regards

    • @Letsdosomethinguseful
      @Letsdosomethinguseful  5 месяцев назад +1

Does the satellite speakers work? if only the sub, test the subwoofer with an ohm meter or multimeter to see if it still gives, I BELIVE ITS 2 OR 4 OHMS. IF more than that or less, there is a problem with the speaker and could have damaged the output transistors. this system has an integrated circuit for the satellites and transistors for the subwoofer. Good Luck!

@@Letsdosomethinguseful ok, I don't know anything about electronics but your video has inspired me. I got an old Bose AM6 Series III (I think the same as yours) and I want to know if the bass speaker works. I have a multimeter. Would I set the multimeter to ohms and contact the two sub pins you identified to test for resistance? And, if so, it should show 2-4 Ohms if it's working? Thank you!

I don't have an acoustimass 9 but you can search for "Bose acoustimass 9 8 din connector pinout" and it could bring the correct one for your system. Is that with a connector like DIN 8 or it is the mini Din 8?

I remember when you could build a component system using any brand and they'd all play well together... Then came Bose with proprietary connections that only work with Bose and change every time a new unit is made so even Bose won't work with Bose. Bose sucks.
