It took a whole 44 seconds to mention nutmeg. 13 years later, and it's still going strong!

During a rainy event I learned that the weave on my canvas hunting shirt was tight enough that I didn't have to hide from the rain. I wouldn't say it was waterproof as water did eventually come through the cape and shirt, but not enough to soak through the blanket shirt I had on underneath. I remained warm and dry for the weekend.
    Great products!

I would suggest sending one of your buckets back so we can see your problem. Wood buckets and barrels that are used frequently can be difficult to keep in good shape as the constant soaking and drying causes them to expand and contract, breaking them apart.

Brilliant longhunter attire! Enjoyed hearing the different pieces that comprised the finished work. Also, I thought it was delightful how the longhunter solemnly stared, as if perplexed by a cheery soldier marching up to him in the wilds and explaining his attire one bit at a time.

Buck skins were the ultra woods attire, durability second to none. Jerkins made from leather, usually deer or elk. Boot length moose hide or elk moccasins to protect legs and feet made quiet foot ware. Canvas and cloth soon wore or rotted to shreds.

That's so cool, as an American I often wonder the opposite; what kind of culture did my ancestors come from when they moved here? What must it have been like to be a part of Scottish culture then and to come across the pond and have to leave it all behind? These are the people who built this nation.

I have noticed that I can find fuzzy fake fur boots or solid hiking boots not usually both. I'd go the regular leather boots the hunter is wearing, but maybe an half inch too loose, carry two sets of linen strips which are close to self wicking fabric nowadays to wrap my feet everyday and swap them out, then stockings of some type, then dry treat thin pieces of grass to trap heat between my stockinged foot and the slightly loose leather. I would decide if I was going to use modern water proofing chemical treatments on my boots, or find an oil or sap treatment from the time period to do it.

It also depends what you fill the buckets with. I could think of a few things that would make the bucket full apart...such a chemicals and such. I know this is old comment however, buckets have to be cared for like with everything else in the 18th century. Todays Americans buy something and expect to take care of itself...thanks plastic.
