I chanced upon the first ever broadcast in 1969, at the time we had just moved into our first ever council house which was brand new! (I am still there but a widower now) We couldn't afford a tv then and listened on a Fidelity portable transistorised radio. As I was a shift worker my wife used to record the programme for me when I was on late shift. Later on we got a combination music centre which was easier for her to operate. I still have lots of tape cassette recordings from way back then! Good old Red red Robin! One of my favourite episode was when Brian Sharp played the Eminent 2000 Grand Theatre Organ, I have a poor recording but still listen to it.
Thanks, I met Robin Richmond several times over the years he could certainly talk! And loved talking about organs and organists! All credit to him for getting the Organist Entertains on air after the BBC had all but stopped BBC cinema organ Broadcast in 1968 thinking this was not what was wanted by then on the new BBC Radio 2. Radio 2 had in fact started in September 1967. The Organist Entertains ran all those years from Wednesday the 11th of June 1969. Being taken over in time by Nigel Ogden. (1980 to 2018). I have just about every one of Robin Richmound Organist Entertains programs on tape some not complete and some poor quilty! I often listen to some of the early shows the 1969 70 and 71 years and back then he was trying to get all the organ groups clubs and societies to come together which never happened. It's quite funny I found a load of tapes reel to reel that had been owned by a Bristol chap I think he had also been involved with the installation of the Wurlitzer in the Pavillion Bath in 1971 as well. These tapes had been badly stored by his family in a damp shed for years but there were a lot of typed notes in great detail to the recordings and its quite funny to read these now as it was pretty clear he was not a fan of Robin Richmond and his playing style or what he said on the Organist Entertains as some of the comments are quite blue, to say the least! But all credit to him for getting that show on the radio and keeping it there all those years is no mean feat. I chatted to him once when I met him at Les Rawles Wurlitzer Lodge about Reg Foort to which he always had some great stories. Happy days which I miss the likes of RR! Thanks as always. Kev.
To answer the question, yes, I was listening in. I did so every week back then, listening to all the various organists, some of whom were my idols. Many of them, like John Mann, would become good friends and colleagues. It would be couple of years before Robin introduced me as a debutant on the programme. IIRC, it was 'Chatanooga Choo Choo' that first time. You may well have that broadcast on tape. I think I have it somewhere, amongst the large pile of cassettes Dad recorded off the radio.
Hi, Andrew sorry for the delay in responding as I have not been too well of late. Thanks for your super comment funny enough. I heard Robin Introduce you for the first time on the Organist Entertains only this summer while going through some more old reel-to-reel tapes! I think I have just about every Organist Entertains in RR day on reel-to-reel trouble is so many are not marked so it's potluck on year month etc.! But good listening still today! Many thanks, Kev.

So sorry that's not been much help Maybe best to try one of the vintage TV forums online someone there may be able to through more light on your set! Thanks, Kev.
So happy to have discovered this on my birthday. I had been looking on I-Player.
Many thanks for your kind comment Kev.

Good old Robin Richmond and the organist entertains! Always had the best players of the day? He was also a fine organist if sober??
