I wouldn't necessarily call it a golden age. I'm hella excited for all the new talent, don't get me wrong, but I think it's moreover just a natural evolution of the game. As time passes, new players are able to learn from increasingly better role models, so then some players are able to breakout and really find their game. Either way hockey is in a good spot.

I think Gavin Mackenna will be like a modern day Sidney Crosby. The way he uses his IQ on the ice and his super advanced level of play reminds me a lot of Sid. He's a generational talent. I think at least. The way he dominates the game is at the level of only a Crosby. Martone I think will be like a Corey Perry. He has some grit and strength to his game at a young age like Perry. And he has a missile shot. I can see him becoming that 50 goal point per game power forward who goes in deep playoff runs. If he teams up with a Celebrini, Bedard, McKenna. It's over for the league.

Matthews lol the only generational players currently are Ovechkin, Crosby, and McDavid. Generational is a once in a generation player. Ovechkin and Crosby happening at the same time is an extreme outlier as their stats are pretty much inseparable. It happened in soccer too with Messi and Ronaldo. 😂 Lemieux and Gretzky eventually overlapped but there was enough time in between to create the separation. Lebron, Kobe, Jordan.
Matthews hasn’t separated himself from his peers in the manner of a generational talent. Bedard’s rookie season was underwhelming. Before you point to his weak team, Crosby still put up a 100+ season in his rookie year with as weak of a team. And it was lower scoring era.
