I think pilfering swarm should be his base 4th ability and the mod for it should be b4 the nerf where it can scale with ability power up to 400%. And a quality of life change instead of having the tentacles flail opponents all over the place including in the air have I knock them down and left an right only so it's easier for melee damage
The real way to play Hydroid is to grab Tidal Impunity, rush into a cluster of dudes with your wave, hit a wall, then fire a Kuva Zarr at your feet. Basically, just run him like a Mach Crash Gauss.
After Pablo blesses all the remaining Hydroid and future hydroid mains, could he perhaps send a crumb of that sunlight to Valkyr? We've been using all sorts of replacements for some of her abilities and its making us insane
I guess her 1 and 4 could be looked at but she has great damage and being invincible is pretty insane, in a good way. I have red shards for more melee crit damage and I find her 3 useless so it's the perfect slot for good helminth ablities. I wouldn't put her at the top of my list for reworks.

One thing I hope for (knowing dam well it will never happen) is for Hydroid to be able to summon his pirate crew, effectively Nekros' 4 but they're four plundering buccaneers. One with a Primary, one with a secondary, one with a melee weapon, and the last one having an archgun. You get the choice of who equips what and you can command them to hold a position or have them follow you like specters. To off set this they could have either a massive energy cost, long duration which is also followed by a semi lengthy cooldown or both. Also seeing 5 ret taus made me physically recoil
@ThrowAway-gu2lw he's still handy, overguard and nullifier throws him off but that's a wf wide problem with cc being terrible, not a limbo specific problem (and at least limbo stasis still affects overguard bullets)
I would love his rain thing to do real damage and be allowed to full strip. It's a fun ability and I LIKE holding chokepoints, so it's great. NGL if the puddle somehow stays I'll be stunned, and I'm helminthing over the tentacles unless they're somehow killing things in twenty seconds or less on base steel path.
This build, with the invig, madurai double dash, maxed augmented, vigor active and a parazon kill got me to around 780% str. Slotting in the other str mods would make the build feel way too uncomfortable but feel free to math it out or something.
I always thought Hydroid's first ability was pretty cool. Sort of like an artillery barrage. Would be neat if it actually did damage past, like... level 30.
If they don't give Hydroid an ability where he just transforms into a kraken, then i will be disappointed, because that one thing would make me play Hydroid, no matter how bad his rework could be. Basically, I want more tentacles.
People often want this but "turn into thing" never ends up well since "thing" usually stops you from using guns. If a power has to compete with whatever tops bramma spam this year, and whatever tops that in the next, then it will eventually lose.
Masochistic Hydroid main here. Replace 1 with Tharros Strike, use Vazarin. Vazarin vortex up enemies, Tharros Strike them, throw down a Pox or two modded for viral/heat/high status chance and duration on the cluster, Puddle them, use Swarm while in the puddle for extra damage. But yeah, other than that it's far too much setup to see big numbers on him like the above combo. Don't bother with Barrage, it sucks ass along with the augment. Use either the Pilfering augment if you still need loot, but better use his Surge augment. His best one imo. You were right to have base range (maybe a touch higher). He's better off built for Duration/Strength (more duration if you want to dash faster than Gauss with his 2)
Hydroid's 1 needs a built in armor-strip, for instance, one that is percentage based that scales off of strength and duration. Duration impacts the length of the effect and percentage of armor removed over time, whereas Strength is additive to the armor strip percentage - So, if you have base strength and duration, it will strip 5 to 10% of enemy armor per second. Increasing the ability duration to 25 to 30 seconds = 25 to 30% per second. Since strength is additive to the percentage, 200% strength = 100% base armor strip, and the tweaked helminth version would not have the strength multiplier. His 1 (tempest barrage) could synergize with his three other abilities by halfing the casting cost of using them while under its effect, making range more useful to him. His 2 could synergize with his 3 through a new augment that allows Hydroid to create a separate instance of his puddle - With it, when you use Tidal Surge (his 2) while in Undertow (his 3) it would create a trail behind you that becomes an Undertow puddle when his 2 ends or is cancelled. This would allow Hydroid to trap enemies passively without having to sit in his puddle or alternatively have two ongoing instances of undertow to make temporary chokepoints.
Hydroid can do things with tentacles, he just needs an armour strip, a gathering ability, and a hard root-to-the-ground so the tentacles don’t just fling people around. What’s frustrating is he has an armour *reducer* via 1 augment (which can’t fully strip), an ability that roots enemies *into* the floor (out of reach of tentys), and like 3 abilities that move enemies everywhere *but* to a central location.
i think a good ability replacement would be to give him something similar to yareli’s 4. hydroid summons a giant water vortex that sucks enemies in and deals slash damage. give it high base range so it can synergize with his 4 without having to mod a ton of range
As someone who hasn't played since before Duviri Paradox, I sure can't wait for the funny looter frame to get his shit kicked in in what DE will call a "rework".
Hydroid, limbo and alot of other frames are kinda examples of how DE makes new rooms in it's ever expanding house not realizing that they've William afton'd something behind the drywall
If Hydroid could place the puddle rather be forced to sit in it, he could do a great job at leaving it at choke points much like how Limbo can use a smaller cataclysm to trap everyone at a tight space and and standback in the rift and cap them. Tempest really should get 5% Strength scaling defense strip so you don't need a 400% pillage to strip people down or Unairu. I'm excited for the rework, but i worry what ability goes away for the "new one". I love puddle.

Hydroid USED to be able to build up stacks of surging blades on aqua blades on enemies in tentacle swarm, which could then be used for big damage while invincible in the puddle or just whenever, but then DE got rid of that for some fucking reason.
It's been so long that I've gone beyond caring for Hydroid. Just how many people were still holding up for him? I'd rather they take a look at the popsicle version of Hydroid, my dear Frost, who I thought was perfectly usable until I tried the steel path with him.
But... Frost *is* perfectly usable. Between cold damage tweaks and the Overguard change, just do like any other caster frame and run a shield-gating build + the Avalanche augment and enjoy having *two* shield gates.

I suppose I miss-spoke when suggesting he's unusable, but neither he is holding up too well: He's supposed to be a defensive CC frame, yet if you try using him as such you're just asking to get quickly overrun and killed. The optimal way to play him is just a worse Ember, run around like a headless chicken stripping armour and killing enemies but none of his abilities can kill and he has no damage resistance. He can't hold down a point effectively once levels hit 200 in Steel Path with his own means. He's held up by the rest of the kit you play him with, not thanks to himself. His passive should get replaced with something that's actually meaningful like a buff interacting with dealing and receiving cold procs. Freeze needs better coverage and effect. Ice Wave needs to incorporate its augment to base kit and the augment be offensive in focus instead, maybe also receive the gimmick functionality of tossing frozen enemies around. Snow Globe needs a big overhaul increasing its health scaling, reducing spam, adding an effect to being inside it for Frost and allies and increasing the debuffs for enemies (it's fine if the buffs only come to its augment), maybe even a healing augment. Avalanche can't be Frost's only noteworthy ability, I'd honestly be tempted to nerf it by increasing the power strength requirement for 100% armour strip just so it's not so overused.
Theoretically, with like incredibly high strength and range, hydroid could be really really decent as he is right now. Like you just pop an ability thst makes him gather a lot of targets into one single spot, and you could have high enough damage scaling to kill everyone in puddle. The issue is that to get those required numbers you have to use: your weapon, your operator, a bunch of weird ass uncomfortable ass mods, arcanes, a pet, and more, and the payoff is a slightly faster saryn that doesn't spread.
Man, I'm so glad Hydroid is getting a real rework this time. While he was never my favorite frame, i had always wanted to do good with him outside of just looting. I remember grinding all the way to mr5 to fight Vay Hek and get him, and i had a ton of fun with him for a while (back when I had like 4 warframes. This was also 2016 and on ps4. I was still very new) Fast foward years and now Hydroid is just that frame I really wish was for fun and/or had a cooler kit. That also goes for Inaros and Chroma (FIGHT ME.)

Ok, hear me out, but... Hydroid is S tier for conclave because he can go immortal. You start taking damage, your shield gate pops, and you just take a dip under. The moment your shields come back, pop back up and melee that guy. Then again. No one plays conclave.

The approach I've seen work best with Hydroid is to just say fuck trying to be precise on tentacled enemies, and bring your biggest fuckoff AoE weapons like the Zarr with him. Group stuff, pop out of pool, one-shot the area, and back down you go. The problem is that Hydroid himself can only be the setup, his abilities don't do enough damage to let you get away without good guns too. ...also Resonator subsume with the augment lets you lead the AI around and directly into your tentacles like idiots so that's funny

Puddle is his most interesting ability, it's just severely underpowered. The issue is that right now it acts as an ability that you want to channel for a long time. If you could quickly channel it instead, it would be pretty good! Like what if the damage was way higher, and it was duration based, for example, with a really low duration?

Limbo requires to become an entirely new frame to be in any chance good. He sucks and gets fucked over by 4/3 enemy factions easily, getting fucked by corpus and corrupted effortlessly. The ONLY use i seen for him at all. Aside from index (in which case, just get a khora) Is with aquablades and the augment, that's it. That to be actually a halfway useful slot waster since you're still limbo Tldr: Limbo FUCKING sucks and needs to become an entirely new frame to have any chance of being usable outside of one mission.

Recasting rips them away from currently afflicted targets. Remove the cap on the number of enemies it can be applied to. As long as shrunken exists, especially as a subsume, there is no reason for Bolts to have a cap.

Theoretically, with like incredibly high strength and range, hydroid could be really really decent as he is right now. Like you just pop an ability thst makes him gather a lot of targets into one single spot, and you could have high enough damage scaling to kill everyone in puddle. The issue is that to get those required numbers you have to use: your weapon, your operator, a bunch of weird ass uncomfortable ass mods, arcanes, a pet, and more, and the payoff is a slightly faster saryn that doesn't spread.

Man, I'm so glad Hydroid is getting a real rework this time. While he was never my favorite frame, i had always wanted to do good with him outside of just looting.
I remember grinding all the way to mr5 to fight Vay Hek and get him, and i had a ton of fun with him for a while (back when I had like 4 warframes. This was also 2016 and on ps4. I was still very new)
Fast foward years and now Hydroid is just that frame I really wish was for fun and/or had a cooler kit. That also goes for Inaros and Chroma (FIGHT ME.)
Try the Support Chroma, is weirdly fun, specially on the gamemode from Duviri

Hydroid is S tier for conclave because he can go immortal. You start taking damage, your shield gate pops, and you just take a dip under. The moment your shields come back, pop back up and melee that guy.
Then again. No one plays conclave.

@@megagrowlithe true, Icy Avalanche giving Overguard i think was fairly massive and the changes to Cold recently did indirectly buff him a small amount, but for the most part he really just needs *proper* QoL and tweaks to his snowglobe so it requires less investment to compete with frames like Gara, but it would also be nice for his 1 and his passive to not be ass

His 1 and 2 are lacking or feeling you dont press them at all if you are max ranked on hydroid, which makes me sas since I love the idea of barrage

The approach I've seen work best with Hydroid is to just say fuck trying to be precise on tentacled enemies, and bring your biggest fuckoff AoE weapons like the Zarr with him. Group stuff, pop out of pool, one-shot the area, and back down you go. The problem is that Hydroid himself can only be the setup, his abilities don't do enough damage to let you get away without good guns too.
...also Resonator subsume with the augment lets you lead the AI around and directly into your tentacles like idiots so that's funny

I think we all can agree that the puddle needs to go away. Maybe make hydroid ride his Kraken like merulina and drag all of his abilities with the kraken (tentacle swarm moving with you with the help speed of the tidal wave)
Puddle is his most interesting ability, it's just severely underpowered.
The issue is that right now it acts as an ability that you want to channel for a long time. If you could quickly channel it instead, it would be pretty good! Like what if the damage was way higher, and it was duration based, for example, with a really low duration?

He sucks and gets fucked over by 4/3 enemy factions easily, getting fucked by corpus and corrupted effortlessly.
The ONLY use i seen for him at all. Aside from index (in which case, just get a khora) Is with aquablades and the augment, that's it. That to be actually a halfway useful slot waster since you're still limbo
Tldr: Limbo FUCKING sucks and needs to become an entirely new frame to have any chance of being usable outside of one mission.

Nyx is good but is overdue with a few tweaks, mainly to Psychic Bolts. Nyx hate is mostly overblown.
What would you change about psychic bolts? seems like it's in a good state right now as a really good armor strip, if anything I'd personally change her 4 since it doesn't scale as well as the rest of her abilities due to the energy drain.
Recasting rips them away from currently afflicted targets. Remove the cap on the number of enemies it can be applied to. As long as shrunken exists, especially as a subsume, there is no reason for Bolts to have a cap.
I solo a lot of stuff with Nyx, she's way better than people give her credit for.
