  • Thinking of starting a RUclips channel but not sure you know enough? As over 50s we have a wealth of knowledge and experience that we can share with others but maybe you want to share what you're learning as you learn it. And this is leaving you with a good dose of imposter syndrome.
In this video I'm sharing my thoughts as a small channel, over 50s creator on how I navigate those self-sabotaging thoughts.
I hope you got value from this video. Please consider buying me a coffee to help support this channel and enable me to keep on creating content? buymeacoffee.com/genexceptional

My step son-in-law has 154 subscribers and he‘s thrilled with that, considering his channel is basically a vlog of his travels around Australia. He describes places to stay, where to eat, camp etc. He had no experience, is retired, in his 60s, and is trying really hard. It’s taking time, but he’s going slowly, and very well. Why don‘t you get that big brother of yours to give you some great tips to pass on? He’s been amazing! Then he can become your mentor, if he hasn‘t moved by then! I feel, being an educator, you‘re doing extremely well. I love your explanations, Bev. Yes, you too are doing very well indeed.😊🇦🇺

Sounds like your step son-in-law is doing a great job. I think the most important thing is just to have fun with it Al. Thanks Trish for your encouragement. Very much appreciated 💜🩵🧡

Lovely image of reaching out and holding hands with someone a couple steps above or below where we are on our journeys 🙂

I think that’s the best way to connect with the people we want to help. To grow together without any talk hierarchy. 😊

So true. Did our babies come with a set of instructions? No. But most of us had some experience with childcare. Great talk 💕

I really enjoyed and appreciated listening to this. I also loved the visual. You explained it all so beautifully, and what a comfort to know there are people standing in the gap, ready to reach out and help us up to the next step.❤

The thing I know most about is MYSELF. The stories of my experience in the world hopefully bring value to others who are trying to understand themselves in their 50’s and beyond.

Well, you’re definitely an expert in your subject. And I know what you have to share will bring huge value to others 💜

Your message is awesome! Love how calm and motivational you are in your videos and the idea of helping other people above and below you. Also the background, lighting and audio are so professional…well done!
We‘re thinking about niching down and creating some „talking head“ videos to try to create more of a community on our channel but that’s out of our comfort zone since we generally shoot on the go. We‘re going to watch more of your videos to get more tips from you. Keep up the good work!
    Big virtual hug,
    Betty❤️

@@BevThorogood you're so right but we keep dragging our feet getting started. We created a podcast channel and wanted to have 5 episodes prepared before launching but we only made a few podcasts and abandoned the project. It was too much trying to upload a travel video weekly and to also devote enough time to the podcast.😌

Yes it’s got to be about capacity and not over committing. X

Great video Bev and very good points made about learning from those just a few steps ahead

But you DO HAVE EXPERTISE Bev!!! Those people that want to learn from you have virtually no experience! You teach at a speed that women at my stage of life can learn at!!! We find or I find, editing and all things RUclips extremely difficult! It’s all a gigantic struggle and all those other “experts “ do everything so fast that it’s impossible to follow! ❤
