Peter at 2:06 made me smile - my husband does the same thing when he catches me not smiling or not perky, "migraine? pain? bad guts? spasms?" he runs through the usual suspects that I deal with, and it feels like love... makes me feel known and understood, like my disability has been folded in with all the other things of our partnership, something we share and understand together. You guys are such a treat to watch - the rhythms of dealing with daily stuff of chronic disease as a couple also help me to feel more comfortable "being real" about the stuff I deal with. I buy those wipes in bulk, too! I'm immunosuppressed (liver transplant) and work in a school with 500+ kiddos! I use multiple wipes per day, on top of hand washing every time I pass a bathroom. 3.5 years post with no major virus'!
Love your channel. I know that know diet changes could ever cure CF but have you considered cutting out dairy for a while and seeing if it helps? Dairy is a really bad inflammatory. It helped my mum with her chronic illness. I know everyone says going vegan fixes everything and I’m not trying to be that person but it might at least help a little with how you feel :)
Mary it's called tinnitus.. I've had ringing in the ears for 10 yrs and I get headaches all the time.. some days are loud some are lower..
I’m spent my fair share of time with audiologists and in the sound booth getting my hearing monitored (my condition slowly takes hearing completely away) plus another symptom is intrusive 24/7 tinnitus which comes in many variations from screeching, ringing, electrical hum and whooshing! I have Ménière’s Disease and that’s a few of the symptoms I have.
I can definitely suggest lowering your sodium intake it directly effects your tinnitus. I also for the past 6 yrs have ran an app on my phone to help mask the tinnitus to help me sleep. If you need someone to talk to or have questions I’d love to help. After all I can turn my “hard things” into helping you or anyone else that reads this and is struggling.
I too have tinnitus and hearing loss, I have chronic bronchietisis and I go through the same routine as Mary e.g physio for my lungs and nebulizer for my medication, plus other medication and it's the meds that have caused the tinnitus it's a real nightmare to have

Hi Mary i was born with severe bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, it was diagnosed when i was 5 and over the years as my hearing has dropped a little my tinnitus has gotten really severe to the point where i am at now that it is 24-7, never goes away and it gets so loud and crazy bad it makes me really dizzy and gives me pain. It isnt really understood if it comes from the brain trying to process the sound or the damaged nerve cells in the ear. You will notice as time goes on you will get used to it being there and if yours isnt so bad, distraction techniques like listening to white noise or a hearing aid can help you with your tinnitus. unfortunately mine as far too severe for that to work. Also stress and definitely different meds will effect it.

Could the headaches be a response to coming down from the steroids? I always get headaches when I do.
melissa dawn i was thinking the same. Also is her appetite still strong because if she’s not eating as much as her body is use to now she will start to get headaches again also
Coughing gives me a headache
I loved everything about this vlog! I'm in school working towards my doctorate in audiology AND I was in Boston a couple of weeks ago at American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention. I presented a poster on a medication currently in clinical trials that has potential for people with neurodegenerative diseases, but it happens to be ototoxic. The ototoxic effects of the medication are actually really similar to the antibiotics that you go on for CF, Mary. I kept staring at the vlog to see if I recognized any of the sights I saw during my time in Boston 😂 Much love to you both, I love your videos and I've been watching them since your Scotland days. Keep doing what you're doing, you both make such a difference in this world!
I have a permanent hearing loss bilateral conductive hearing loss. I do my audiology test each year with a bone test as well. I don't really love it because I feel clusterfobeck if I am even spelling it correctly when I go into the cube to do it. You got a taste of what I go through each year. Now I am dealing with constantly couching all day each day despite using my inhaler. My boy is good he is 10 1/2 months
I am from Columbus, OH and it has that wonderful mix of historical and modern. Beautiful old churches, Victorian era houses, and sky scrapers.
Nice. I am up there often for my doctors. Be back in a couple months to see if my pfts go up and probably have to do my specialized sleep study too.

Been watching you guys for a while. Can appreciate this cause so many people that dont have conditions cant relate to what it takes and what they may take for granted.
On the plane could you also think about a disposable mat for sweet Ollie to lie on? They remind you of the mats you lie on in the hospital. I’m thinking I saw or read about service dogs having to lie on dirty floors and transferring germs to the owners, anyway, I digress lol, it would be cleaner and healthier for him too. We love your sweet Ollie boy💗💗
Hearing tests, fun. I just got a hearing aid a month ago. Happy to hear yours is not getting worse. I hope the loss you have can recover eventually.

I am currently in the process of getting diagnosed with Meniere's disease. I have to go to audiologist alot to moniter my "hudden" hearing loss and then go to otolarangologist to moniter my vestibular migranes. Next I have to go to a nurotologist to persue the diagnosis further. So yeah, I understand all the fun hearing (and nausea,dizziness,and headache) stuff. Hopefully you are able to learn to tune it out (some people can, mine is progressive so I haven't fully, but a lot of people can.)
I think it's the weather cause I've been getting a few headaches This week also ! I have chronic migraines and I know you get migraines now too. The can't be fun on Top of your cystic fibrosis.

I'm partially deaf in my right ear. I also have ringing, tinnitus. My tinnitus got so much worse after my spinal surgery. It was so weird it would wake me up sounding like an alarm clock. Really a alarm clock. I asked my ENT and he said possibly it's like phantom limb pain. As my hearing changes its trying to reconnect the missing link. Sounds similar to what you said. I also had a different ENT a few year's ago tell me to much salt in your system will make it more intense sounding. These day's if family wants my attention in another room they have to flick the light's. Due to my surgery I just can't turn my neck around to see who's behind me. That gets me so upset. You handle it It with such Grace.

Boston looks like a lovely city. It is the type of city that would be fun to just go and walk around downtown for an afternoon. Except I cannot travel, or walk, or spend more than an hour being upright... But, if I could - man oh man, I'd love to check Boston out! Thanks for showing us around. Mary, my 14 year old son LOVES milk too. He has a tip for you. Would you like flavored milk? You can actually take the flavored coffee creamers and add them to your glass of milk. His favorite is the silk vanilla almond but there tons of others too. How bout pumpkin spice? Or oreo cookie? Trust me they are delicious! My son says to let us know if you try it!

You guys are awesome. I went to get a hearing test too two weeks ago due to Bell’s palsy and ongoing constant ear pain and ringing in the ear. The good news is I am okay with hearing but the balance issue is the problem. Doing more test to find out what is more going on,

i know that ollie is a service dog but what does he do? He's adorable!
He gives Mary support (bracing) when she is having a coughing fit. He brings her items when it’s needed.
He can smell her breath and alarm her when her blood sugar is low ( I think the dexcom is doing that now) and he supports her when she is having a coughing fit.

Mary, I have hearing loss in my left ear and my doctor says that the ringing I have in that ear is my brain trying to fill in the gaps created by the sounds my ears are missing, if that makes sense

I had my test done at mass eye & ear. The people who did the test were super rude and I walked out crying with answers of “its just tinitus most likely so just deal with it”

I have had a loud heart beat thump in my ears for the past 11 years. It started after I had my oldest daughter and has only started getting louder the past 3 years. I have tried every exercise under the sun to try to get the fluid to drain properly but nothing works. When I asked my doctor about it, she told me I may need tube's placed in my ears, and that idea scares the poop out of me! 😦 I can totally sympathize with the ringing in your ears.
Tubes work really well and are no big deal
They are very tiny and a lot of people get them done. My mam and little cousin did. They can help a lot. I get anxious for procedures too, even tiny things like bloods. Good luck!

My daughter wears BTE hearing aids for hearing loss due to Cisplatin. Recently, she has experienced severe tinnitus and was able to get new hearing aids that has a white noise program which drowns out the constant ringing. Maybe something like this might help? She sees Audiology and ENT at Children’s, as well.

I need to go see an audiologist soon. My ears ring all the time. It drives me crazy sometimes.
I’m on Symbicort daily for my Asthma and it makes me have a raspy voice for a while after I take my dose.
My daughter lives milk too. She drinks about two gallons a week...that's not counting whatever else she uses milk for; cooking, cereal.
Always remember to wipe the tray table as well. We just came back from Florida and the tray table was filthy. 😆

Yay! Glad ok. Have to say though meds probably affect me differently. My medicational doses of worse due to Addison's like disease...I really bloat...affects my vision altho temporary. I'm glad you didn't appear to have too many affects w steroids. Hope you'll stay off for a while. Love to both of you.

I take Lipo Flavonoid plus, it is what I take for the ringing (tinnitus) and has really helped . It is over the counter when you go to but it.

I love you guys so much! I love that you guys Praise and Worship the Lord! You're such an inspiring couple! I have a question though how far do you guys have to drive to get to your hospital or your Dr office? Weird question maybe but I suffer from panic attacks and I living in town and I live within 5 minutes of One hospital and 15 minutes of the other and I would be afraid to live out in the country or somewhere where I had to drive far to the hospital in case I had it like a severe panic attack! Love you guys! 0 you guys are my morning routine and if I missed anything my after my kids go to bed routine LOL!

Get some Lipoflavenoid. It helps with ringing of the ears. You can find this in most grocery stores in the pharmacy section.
