Roomba won't dock - FIXED

- A washer (or 2) under the black & white ball post, lifts-up the front bump switch, so it won't turn around when it hits the charger.
The docking problem is: The plastic bearing under the black & white ball wears down over time. This lowers the front of the Roomba too low, and when it gets to the charger, it thinks it's hitting a wall, and turns around... never docking. A washer or 2 under the ball lifts-up the front of the Roomba again.
You provide the answer quickly at the beginning! Best how to RUclips video in history. Please teach everyone else your amazing Jedi ways
Brilliant! I love that you started with the solution then explained it.
Amen!
Mine was not docking either. I cleaned out the silver connectors on the docking station and now it works. I think stuff gets trapped under there as well. Thank you for your video.
I agree with John. Solution first. If you want to know why second. Great video. Thank you.
The washer I had was too thick- While it solved the docking problem it didnt charge because of the new distance that was happening between the vacuum and the dock. Things didn't line up anymore. So I used one of those plastic bread bag fasteners instead of the washer and that solved the problem for me!!
After gutting my vacuum thinking I had an internal problem than I tore down the charger and still still no issue. Finally I came across this video and put in a washer a boom problem solved, Thanks!!!
Omg. Quick, simple, affordable and explained! Love it! Thank you! I literally got pissed off at it and didn’t want to hulk smash my equipment so I boxed it back up. Now if you can explain why my roomba chooses to die in random areas of my house and not dock itself, THAT would be awesome.
This worked for me. The problem is not the bearing, but rather the wheel has worn down. I did this washer trick and it worked.
Well, my mother in law gave us a new roomba, and I noticed the wheel was the same but without the flat spot. I got the new wheel from new roomba and put it in the old roomba without the washers. It also worked. The washers is the cheap fix but the problem is the worn wheel.
Sir you are my hero. Thanks for saving my sanity and doing it so efficiently!!!! I can’t believe its taken me six months to research this problem. One washer fixed my issue immediately!!!!!!!!!
Tysm this was actually the problem on my roomba 621 and now it works fine again! ❤
Super, the most simple solution for long lasting problem. I wish I found these video months ago. Thanx
Thank you for sharing this fix! I actually had another wheel from an old Roomba and Roomba was happily docking again! It's definitely worth keeping parts from older Roombas for this very reason.
This worked. My 2.5 month old i7 would not go up on the dock more than an inch or two, then back off and try again and again (hitting the front bumper?). The base is on carpet. I moved the base to a hardwood floor and repeated the test to dock and it docked fine. I then added two washers under the front wheel per this video and returned the base to carpet and it worked fine.
Four months of frustration over in 1:14 minutes. Hooray!
Thank you! My Roomba 650 wasn't docking but between your washer tip and cleaning the contacts with a magic eraser, it seems we're back in business!
I've been trying for years... Awesome hack. It works!
Hey thanks man...your quick fix worked & what a relief..!! This issue was bugging me for days.
You are a wizard, this worked on my i7! You saved me from having to buy a replacement!!
I did this and cleaned the contacts with a magic eraser, both on the rumba and the docking station! Worked great and thank you for this video sir!
You sir, just saved my Roomba’s life. I was about to sacrifice it to the anger gods and introduce it to the concrete in my back porch.
Your fix worked like a champ. I kept thinking that the connectors weren't making contact. Would have never thought lifting the front would help, in fact, I thought the opposite. I have had some other problems with the base and cleaning contacts. I have been able to fix them with cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and applying DeoxIT D5. This stuff works miracles on connectors when they start to get old. BTW, I am not associated with Deoxit in any way, just have had good luck with it at home and work. Not cheap, but it works.
This tip is a Roombasaver! Nowhere else I looked had a fix for this. Thank you!
Thanks for the hack. My roomba has not been wanting to dock for a while now and I tried the washer hack and it worked. Thanks again
Thanks so much for this, been frustrating me for months, Your solution sorted it instantly!
Just tried this and it didn't work, however what did work is removing the bumper, (be careful when pulling the bumper off after unscrewing it, the top sensor is attached and you don't want to rip the wires) Then give it all a good cleaning. hope this helps anyone there who's losing their mind like i did 😅.
i liked your idea on how you used the cloth tape to hold dock in position. great idea !! looks good as well.
Cool trick. I had a Roomba doing the same thing and I found a thick plastic washer in with some misc. screws and it sorted out the problem.
That was a quick fix and I'm back to being lazy.
You’re a genius. You should run for President.
OMG - best tip I've ever had - sorted in less than 2 minute!
It worked... And i've searched everywhere. Thank you my Jedi:))
THANK YOU :) Holy Hell was this issue driving me nuts !
You solved it! THANKS so much. You rock!!!!!!!
Outstanding !! I tried two washers and it didn't work so I tried one and it worked thank you awesome fix guess it depends on how much wear you got on it .. thanks again awesome
Thanks! Noticed the duct tape and utilized that solution as well.
Firstly I thought, it’s a missing bottom rubber thing on the docking station. What is perfectly solved all issues
Thank you bro quick and to the point now I don’t need to kick my roomba in the ass to get it to dock👍🏼👍🏼
washer trick worked for me THANKS
Hey thank you! This worked for two weeks but now it’s not working anymore :/ do you think I should add more washers? Thank you
Would have loved to see what it was doing beforehand. This didn't do anything to fix my i7.
You are my hero
soak the side brushes in hot water for a moment and they straiten out. renews them to new!
Great idea and saved me of buying a new wheel!!!
Thx! Solved my problem
Awesome Fix great video and fix
Thank you 🙏
It worked 😀💯
Absolutely genius!!!
Thanks, appreciated.
Struggled for a long bit, turns out the power cable wasn’t plugged in all the way into the dock
Dude, thank you so much for provding the solution
Very helpful. Thank you so much.
Instant fix!!! Thank you!
How did you get the wheel off?
Genius!!!!
Thank you for this brilliant idea! Problem solved!
If this works, you saved my roomba i didnt use for 2 years because of this issue… ill let you know if it works. A 1minute video must solve it
Is that the 595 👍. Yeah mine starts up the charger then hear a crunch noise as it starts to spin and drags station around, drives me nuts. You can buy replacement tire treads off Amazon when they become worn like mine, runs great now. I tried this and worked, been looking but do see any place selling that gray bearn to replacs just caster assambley
What size are those washers?
Quick solve. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! It worked pretty well!
FUNCIONAAAA! GRACIAS
Great tip! Thank you.
Worked like a charm thx
Hi, how to match if Ibuy a new dock. please
Thanks!!!!! 😅
Works, good fix!
But what if it is in another room and cant find its way home?
Thank you so much!
It actually works
Thank you sir
You need to detangle your brush, could almost make a new cat or dog with the amount there!
Lol loved this
Genous
Mine docks but doesn’t charge
It is possible that the washer you added to solve the docking problem was too thick. Try thinner washer
Didn’t work for me
Didn’t work for me either. No charging even when I place the Roomba directly on the charger.
Jajaja it worked
bad diagnostic , the real problem is the front wheel , it's extremely worn and lower the Roomba. The tires on the motorised wheels will also need to be replaced soon.
Instant fix! Thank you!!!
What size washer is it?
It was the size washer that fit on the post. It was thin. Sorry for the ambiguity, but a small, thin washer raised the bumper high enough that it doesn't bump the charging station.
