As a band, ya gotta be feeling really happy when you are allowed to perform "live" on a TV show. No lip syncing required. This is a golden moment. As expected, these guys sound awesome live. Anyone else agree?
These dudes were uber talented. Both sang, wrote and played multiple instruments. One of the best groups of the 80's having released 3 stellar albums during the decade.
What a line -up.. Oleta on piano and Jim on drums.. Roland and Curt look so HEALTHY and fresh-faced.. A stupendous song - love Curt's performance on this one.. Roland's smile is dazzling!
Curt's vibrato never fails to give me goosebumps! I tell friends that his vibrato sounds expensive lol. I love this live performance thank you for uploading such a gem. Curt sitting down while singing this very tricky song shows this decade is peak for his singing voice. Love Roland and his ever powerful voice....and his glorious hair! ❤❤❤
Absolutely! For all the people who say that Roland IS Tears for Fears, he didnt have the vocal range that Curt has which is why Curt is lead for most of their biggest hits. Curt was and continues to be extremely underrated!
@@bonerjams0h3 The funny thing is that when the band started sessions for what became the "Songs of the big chair" album, Roland was told that he had a great singing voice in his own right and that he should write some songs he could sing. What ended up happening was that he wrote songs ONLY he could sing. I mean could you imagine "Shout," "Head over heels", "Sowing the seeds of love" (Different album I know) or "Break it down again" (Yup different album too) being sung by Curt?
@@bonerjams0h3 Curt is an important member for sure, but Roland can sing pretty much anything Curt did and more, it’s just the songs were written more for Curts singing style at the time, rather than it being a range thing. Roland is a world class singer in his own right- I believe and Woman in Chains being two examples. He sang all of Curts songs on the tours he wasn’t in the band- they just sounded different with his tone.
Really like that intro with Carol Steele on percussion; of course Oleta is dynamite...'Advice" is a tune which brings introspective thoughts [in me] to the forefront.
I just have to say Curt's roles in the TV comedy 'Psyche' were classic!!! Him being killed by a mountain lion while strapped to a paramedic gurney was hilarious 😂😂😂
Tears for Fears with Oleta Adams(1990) was the last major concert I ever saw when ticket prices were below $30. After that concert ticket prices skyrocketed into the hundreds of dollars range !!!###
As much as I loved TFF, I can't recall them being on Arsenio as much. Wow! I was 18, and would've run off with Curt in a heartbeat.....as a back-up singer (wink).
I watched this show when it was broadcast. Sowing the Seeds of Love was the other song played that nite. Great stuff. I saw them in Toronto on this tour and they did not disappoint. I must say ....my favourite song from that album and time period was Woman in Chains. Wish they had played it that night. Oleta Adams voice with Roland was just magic. They did it on French television live later on which is so good.
@@MsMars. They actually came to my home town in the 80's to the local University to perform. Songs From The Big Chair had just come out I believe with all their big hits on that album. I was out of the country so I missed it. Would have been great to see. Did you ever see them live? Roland's voice when I saw him was very impressive. Very powerful. Curt had a good voice but not as powerful. Oleta was great too. I see you were a former elite athlete. In your pic shows some cycling gear. Is that what you did at one point in your life? Very cool.
Amo demais Tears For Fears! Essa música é lindíssima! Curts que voz linda e Roland que voz fantástica e quanto charme ....... muito talento e musicalidade!!! Que sorriso Roland!!!!
Thank you so much for this post! I've seen TFF several times live....they are wonderful!! They are one of my favorite bands of the 80's and Roland is so darling in this vid!!!! 😆
When I heard this song first on the radio, I thought that the song from New Kids on the Block. Later, recognized newly TFF' musical spectrum, this song really for Curt.
Anyone here June 2024. Absolutely love TFF. Love this song!!

I totally agree
I agree aswell. I feel so angry when they did countdown they were forced to lip sync
I saw them for the 3rd or 4th time this past summer and they are still just as glorious as they were in the early 90’s.
Como músico te digo son increíbles ,y totalmente comprometidos con un cambio de conciencia a nivel mundial ,genios totales!!!!!
i agree 100%!!!
And that, ladies and gentlemen is a real band performing a quite complex and beautiful song live on TV, no overdubs.

O.M.G. = Chills. They are such phenomenal singers & songwriters. The musicianship on that stage was Top-notch. Love T.F.F.
Curt is severely underrated as both a singer and bass player. This song is DIFFICULT to sing and he plays FRETLESS at the same time.
it's really a difficult song to sing and play at the same time, in his place I wouldn't be able to do one or the other!
This comment is spot on. He covers quite a range in this track and there are for sure, some tricky intervals to sing

Astounding song. I often play it on RUclips prior to my date day with my wife. Gets me in great mood.
This song should of been way more popular. It's such a 'TFF' sounding song.
