Many thanks for this video Joel, you refreshed my memory of a Harry Callahan exhibition that I saw back in 1987. I`ve dug out the booklet from the Hallmark collection, $10aud, bargain. Now subscribed!!

Thanks for bringing this often-overlooked master to the attention of others. Interestingly, I'm reading 'Alfred Stieglitz: An American Seer,' and although he's revered for his photography, he doesn't get enough recognition for the huge role he played in bringing "new" (then) art to the attention of the American people (he also helped spur Ansel's career as well as Callahan's). He'd make a great subject for a deep dive if you're so inclined.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful message! 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video and that it sparked some connection to what you’re currently reading.
You’re absolutely right-Stieglitz was not only a brilliant photographer but also an incredible advocate for modern art. His efforts to bring new artistic movements to the U.S. are often overshadowed by his personal photography. And yes, his role in shaping the careers of legends like Ansel Adams and Harry Callahan is something that deserves more attention!
Your suggestion for a deep dive into his life and influence is fantastic. I’ve been considering exploring figures who shaped the art world in unexpected ways, so Stieglitz could definitely make a compelling subject for a future video.
Thanks again for taking the time to write and share your insights-it really means a lot. 🙏 Stay tuned for more content, and feel free to share the channel with anyone who might find it interesting or inspiring.

When I was younger, there used to be a lot of photography clubs and workshops. Some of the workshops were put in by photographers like Fred Picker etc. not sure why so many have disappeared?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts-it's always great to hear from someone who appreciates photography as much as I do! 🙌
You're absolutely right; there used to be so many amazing photography clubs and workshops, often run by passionate photographers like Fred Picker. They were such valuable spaces for learning, connecting, and growing as artists. It’s a bit sad to see how many of them have disappeared over time. I think part of it might be the rise of online platforms-people seem to prefer learning through videos or online courses nowadays, which is great in some ways but doesn’t quite replace the magic of in-person collaboration.
Still, I feel there’s a growing opportunity to bring those communities back, even if it’s in a new form. Maybe smaller local meetups or hybrid workshops could be the way forward.
Thanks again for watching the video and for your thoughtful comment. It really means a lot! I hope you have an amazing day, and stay tuned-there’s plenty more content on the way. Feel free to share with anyone who might enjoy it! 📸✨
