As a young primary school boy, I often visited my best friend for the weekend and his mother made krummel pap every morning of their lives for breakfast. So they were not impressed by it at all but for me it was brand new and delicious. Sugar and milk over the krummel pap and maybe some butter. It that was my only meal of the day, I would have been happy. The pot was always put in their chicken coup and the chickens loved pecking out the crust at the bottom of the pot. Very good childhood memories.

Wow that was absolutely delicious! I’ve only ever had stuwe pap (I think that’s what it’s called) and I’m not a fan but this was my first time cooking and eating krummel pap. Thanks for the simple steps it was perfect!

This is interesting. I'm a black South African and I've never seen Krummel Pap "uPhuthu" being made like this. Specially by white lady. Well-done👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Most black people think white people don't eat uPhuthu

Got mine from Countdown. I've had a bag of it for about a year, decided to use it. Don't follow the directions on the pack, I did and ruined a lot of it. Having some for lunch right now though, rolled into balls as dumplings in soup. Not bad! Ours is better than what I see on vids though, theirs is so white and bleached whereas the Springbok is nice and whole with good colour.
Ha ha.. it was a well used pot for food that burns easily.. Hi Itsmy Party.. This video was shot in 2011.. and the Pot has since been replaced. :) but In spite of the silly pot's relevance, or shall I say irrelevance.. I hope you enjoyed the Video and found it instructional.
The Pap will burn a crust at the bottom of the pot, but that is why the heat has to be on the lowest setting with a lid ontop.. and you have to fluff the pap every 10 min.
Hi Sonja, I am sorry it didnt work out for you. What brand did you use? Was your water boiling hot when you added the Maize, and did you turn off the stove, stir and fluff it out and then place it back on and simmer on the lowest setting, fluffing it with a fork every 5 /10 min? To ad a bit of taste to the pap, you can add some butter before you finish whisking it! Try it!
