Dream Theater is an American progressive metal and progressive rock band formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music inMassachusetts. They subsequently dropped out of their studies to concentrate further on the band that would ultimately become Dream Theater. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess until September 8, 2010 when Portnoy left the band. In October 2010, the band held auditions for a drummer to replace Portnoy. Mike Mangini was announced as the new permanent drummer on April 29, 2011

am I the only one that actually enjoys Labrie's vocals? I though they were great and expected the high notes in the last chorus to blow , but they didnt. the notes are actually really hard to hit without falsetto, expecially after around 25 years of touring , you haters

you know, it's pretty impressive that DT would have the nuts to play this song at an outdoor metal festival. i kind of expected the crowd to either be bored or be screaming HA! GAYYYY at this song but instead half the crowd was having an emotional breakdown hahahaha DT fo lyfe
I love Labrie's voice on the albums, especially in his solo work, but I'm not gonna lie anymore. Why is LaBrie blowing all that air in the mike in the quiet parts? Sounds really annoying and amateuristic. Most of the time he struggles through the songs and the last 5-10 years every vowel sounds like "OA" when he crosses the passagio, squeezes and locks his larynx, and from then on it sounds like he's getting strangled: "If oah doa toamoaroa Oa'll be Oalroate boacaose I boalaoaoaoa that after we goaoaoaoa the spoaoaoaroaoaoat carries oaoaoaoaan" He doesn't even pronounce the words anymore. It must be so weird to be in that band and act like everything is peachy...

+tommyams LaBrie always was the "weakest" element on Dream Theater. Now when I hear the lyrics, and knowing them back to back from listening DT for so many hears he seems like Zakk Wylde you know? When you don't understand shit xD Some say that labrie was very good 15 years ago a bit less but I disagree never liked his voice and neither his voice tone...
+Pedro Silva I think he did an outstanding job on SCORE. Particularly his performance of "Six Degrees Of Turbulence" made me reconsider that song and loving it. In studio recordings he is really able to tell a story because of his wide range and dynamic. He is able to produce a pop sound but he can also blow you away with operatic belting. But all of this means nothing when you don't like his voice tone of course ;)
tommyams Yeah he's awesome and has what I like to call "a big open mouth" cause he can just flat out send you giant notes in terms of projection. But as I said not I do not like the tone :\
+Pedro Silva For me the "hook" in DT was Petrucci and Portnoy. Labrie was something to put up with. The Elements Of Persuasion album helped a lot.

I really feel for James, he seems to be having a hard time. He barely articulated one bit in the later parts.. and breathed so much in the quieter parts. Such a shame. At least John is delivering as always.

So unlucky I missed their show the previous year in Seoul because of the comprehensive exam in my uni. I just sat in my room waiting for the exam while thinking about the show in downtown the whole hours and finally I was told that the exam was postponed for next week!
