One advantage of playing left-handed that wasn't mentioned is when it comes to receiving serves in doubles, a left-hander can position himself/herself to where it's somewhat easier to play an aggressive forehand return.
It's an advantage more than you think. Being lefty in basketball helped me get more steals imo, because I'm like a mirror to the offense and I work better forcing them to their weak side which is my strong side for easier steals. In fighting sports left handed people (southpaws) are used to fighting right handed people, where both fighters' lead hands are on the same side, (imagine making a fighting pose in the mirror and you and the reflections front hand are on the same side) which is weird for regular fighters but more common for southpaws. Overall left handed people are able to do most things right handed people can, because they're more or less forced to learn it on the right then reteach themselves on the left. Bottom line, Lefties rule.
This is actually pretty common in a lot of sports, being left handed helps cuz most people 90% of the time wld be used to playing vs right and not left handers
Thanks! I was wondering about the different colors on the sides of the paddles. I played some in high school. 50 years ago, and I've taken up Ping Pong again, so there's a lot I don't know.
I am thirteen. I played a match against another town and my opponents mother was soooo annoying. I started screaming after every point, no matter how chep it was, to annoy her and give me some time to relax. Cho Le is Chinese and means, as far as I know, roughly the same as let's go or come on
As far as i know they copy a chinese player Ma Long(one of the best table tennis players). He always used to say 'chole' after a he scored. And then the trend started where every1 started shouting chole after almost every pnt
Thanks for the great videos! What are the actual rules for the serve - they changed and there is so many myths, it would be great if you could clear it up, especially the small details (do you have to throw the ball up, does it have to be visible, where can you start, ...)?
Happy to see you Pongfinity guys Emil, Mikka and Otto again back to action.. you guys are absolutely fantastic and fabulous and want to do something different which really makes you guys special.. Emil brother in one video you showed your university... I am also a student of class 12 and I am pursuing the stream of Commerce and want to pursue Economics honours in the future.. Which subject are you pursuing a carrier in Emil?? Guys you along with your family stay safe and healthy and nevertheless I pray to god to keep you away from the clutches of disparities in life and you continue to deliver excellent in life... Table tennis is one of my favourite games and I really enjoy it playing .... Otto, Mikka and Emil you three are absolutely incredible..... Looking forward to see your channel excalating and soaring higher and higher without any break... All the very best to you 😃🙏🤝
the chinese grip is unnatural, in the way you holding the racket, and the angles you hit the ball. As for "the normal" standard way. You can utalize the mechanics of your arm/body better.
J Pen hold players can attack over the table easier getting the blade very close to the table surface taking the ball early but will usually have a harder time on the backhand side relying on footwork more. C pen gives more options but having more options can be more complicated. Shakehand is a good middle ground. Pistol grip adds more power but bigger playing elbow. Every style will have pros and cons and if a player is good enough at a certain style the cons become negligible.
I'd quite like to see you guys do some collaborations where you teach other RUclipsrs to play table tennis. I'd love to see a doubles match with two of you guys pairing up with the Green Brothers. Or a video where you teach Twoset to play table tennis and they teach you to play violin!
The other reason players wipe their hands on the table: It's a stalling tactic. They want more time to think about strategy, or to rest, so they stall by making it look like they're doing something legitimate so that the refs don't fault them. And it works. It buys them a couple more seconds between points.
I have a few questions... 1. The meaning of "CHO-LEE" (and no one say "YESSSS!" after winning a point...) 2. Players always blow the hand/racket 3. Not much Penhold players nowadays 4. The Chinese domination for the past 20+ years 5. Pongfinity is so good
1. someone says it Cho means ball in Chinese as if shouting ‘good BALL’. Fan zen song once shouted yes. I think it’s a game between him and Pitchford 2. Sweat or to remove dust from racket 3. Backhand flick being more aggressive and dominating. Traditional pen hold only has forehand 4. Millions of people in China plays tt. And with their government supporting and electing potential players since youth. It’s quite obvious 5. They are once youth national team from Finland iirc
1. i just read that in chinese cho is short for good match. But a lot of people also say yesssss. It depends on the player 2. it is to cool the hand (sounds weird but works quite well) and to have luck just like you blow a coin for exampls. 3. the back hand as penholders is much more difficult to master. And the european way just became simply a standard 4. chinese are good in pretty mucb everything since they have a lot of people 5. i agree (Just note i only played for 4 years or so so maybe some of this is not true)
Yes, the thicker the rubber, the "slower" the ball will be bouncing if you apply the same force, its physics thing, elasticity of materials; adding rubber will add spinning effect onto the ball, so i think the modern table table rules came up a standard thickness of rubber
3:20 Us:"Is being left handed an advantage? Otto: It's not a real advantage, but usually *is easier to play against right handed players* . That is the whole point, making it easier, that is exactly what we asked:"Is it easier"
You're not allowed. The racket has to be held when you hit the ball. You can change hands or hit with both hands holding the racket, but you have to hold it when a shot it being taken.
*incredibly hard.* they start as little kids, training constantly with coaches after school, going to china/germany/france over summers to play at professional team centers or sports universities. lol, it's not something you can ever hope to do if you are over 18 and not already many years into.
please do more of this, my question is please explain for which level of player what kind of racket must be used i mean for each stage, beginner, inter and pro, whats the speed, control and spin level racket to be used
All other sports are going virtual right now, so I think it's time that you guys did as well. I'd recommend "Eleven Table Tennis" in virtual reality. I think you'll be impressed by the physics. =)
I got a new game it’s called table tennis squash. What you do is put one side of the table up while the other stays and what you do is chop the ball with back spin on the side that’s up and make it hit the side that is down. Hope you enjoy the game
1:30 Some Chinese players told me that - there are less and less pimple players in the higher classes because pimples are more difficult to handle high speed & high spins for 40+mm than 38mm. Being left handed I have found their might be a small advantage in doubles by being able to pendulum serve of the opponent's side of the table
Left handed players have only half table obstruction and can wind up huge power if the ball falls off the right side of the table.
