Oh my days...it reminds me of my 21st birthday party. I really loved the song back then. Can't believe I'm now 43!! Where does the time go?! 😳 still, every day is a blessing. ❤
Whilst pregnant back in 2001, I had 'Synthesis Pubis Dysfunction' & had to rest as it was excruciatingly painful, so I watched the 'popstars' series & then this song was released & constantly played. Even when I went into labour & got into hospital in the early hours of Saturday 26th of May 2001 to give birth (a week early) all that was on the tv in the middle of the night was the old 'Jerry Springer Show' & after was music. I gave birth to my precious 1st Son Luke Joshua & the feeling was amazing. My bright blue eyed boy came out but with the cord around his neck & not breathing, whilst they took him straight off & cleared his airways & gave him oxygen, it felt like the longest minute of me & my husband's life 💔. But our precious 2nd child was perfect. Whilst holding my newborn son & promising him that me & his daddy would protect him & love him unconditionally for life, I realised that this song that had been playing all Bank Holiday Weekend was our son's 'Birth Song' & the words said it all "Wherever you go & whatever you do, it's PURE & SIMPLE I'll be there for you" 💙 My beautiful baby boy is now 17 yrs old 😯. Me & my husband are so proud of how he is turning into an incredible young man. It's lush how a song can take you back in time to a specific moment & all the emotions & feelings come flooding back 💫😀👍😁 💙😍💞. Lukey, we are ALWAYS here for you & love you beyond words our precious, sparking blue eyed boy 💙 Luke Joshua 💙
It’s hard to think that Kym Marsh would later go on to be in Corrie then after that, present weekday morning lifestyle programmes for BBC 1, and appear in Waterloo Road as well
Bring back the collective boy/girl bands... It is a million times better than the all-boy or all-girl bands... The early 2000s will always have a special place in my heart. One of the most special things about them is the music, such as this song and Hear'Say.
I remember, as a kid, I was sitting on the sofa and watching/listening to VIVA and MTV. This was one of those songs that they played...dear me...memories are flooding. So many years ago...
I bought their cassette and all the songs in that album were good. Their voices blend well together how I wish they could've lasted longer, but you know it doesn't happen in a manufactured pop group, but I'm their fan, and this song, is pure and simply inspiring. It's a great song!
@AJB3yeah, I used to buy cassettes for the car. I guess they stopped selling them around 2007 maybe. Oh yeah, plus the cassettes were a lot cheaper than the CDs.
I remember back when this song was first released, here in South Africa, no-one I knew cared for Hear'Say or S Club 7 or any of the big U.K. pop groups of the time. I felt so out of place. But I'll be damned, I still love this song! I had a big crush on Danny back in the day... in fact, I still do. 😜
I wonder when Blue officially split up, it must've been after 2013 as they were still releasing singles/albums then, the 2000s and early 2010s was a great era for music!
Hear’Say weren’t the best Pop Group in the likes of S Club 7 or Steps, but ‘Pure And Simple’ was a great song for its time and sold a million copies. Back when we had good Pop Music. At least some of the members went on to achieve success elsewhere in the later years like Kym Marsh for example, she’s had a successful acting career and had a good 13 year stint on Coronation Street as Michelle Connor
Kym Marsh me and my girlfriend both love you, Great singer and a fantastic actress our relationship has strengthened in the last 14 months we’ve been together because of you, We love snuggling on the sofa watching Coronation Street in the week and watching you. So many great story lines. Keep doing what your doing Kym. Your so beautiful inside and outside! 😘🌷👌👍
Huh funny story guys, was having a chin wag with the old ball and chain about the weather and I said "oh it says it's just raining this weekend but it could just be hearsay" and now here I am
I arrived in England at the age of 19 in 1999 from Texas and a couple of years later this was playing ALWAYS in the bar that I worked at in Manchester's Gay Village. Loved it, it was so fun!
Still a good song in 2023. The original reality pop stars. The band actually look like theyre just buzzing off winning the show and loving life.
I’m genuinely so obsessed with the half assed choreography and Myleene Klass’ red shades
ROFL 🤣😂🤣
Your comment literally made me LAUGH OUT LOUD!
Pure and SIMPLE 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Apparently they never thought to check if they could dance in the popstars auditions 😂

Nobody

The Aughts, love it! And came here because of Betty Boo doing this song live in 2024 (she was one of the writers of the song).
