  • The Hirshberg Foundation is excited to have Dr. Jeffrey Chen as a speaker at the 15th Annual Symposium on Pancreatic Cancer on March 2nd, 2019. Dr. Chen is the Executive Director of the UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative, one of the first academic programs in the world dedicated to the study of cannabis. We are excited to have him joining us to discuss Medicinal Cannabis and Cancer with the pancreatic cancer community.
California is currently the largest population in the world with legal adult use of cannabis, yet years of research restrictions have contributed to a lack of scientific knowledge about cannabis, particularly in regards to the therapeutic potential. The UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative (UCLA-CRI) is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the wide-ranging health, legal, economic, and social impacts of cannabis. Dr. Chen is passionate about accelerating research into cannabis and its compounds as potentially cost-effective and safe treatments for cancer patients.

Forgot to mention the fact it's only the female that is used, she is a pistillate and if you remove any males before they flower..she will invest in more trichomes, if pollinated will stop slow down THC production because she will invest her energies for seed production.
And there's window at harvest time where trichomes which we check with a microscope and observe the state of those resin glands,
Clear, opaque, amber and dark brown to black, all have differing effect.

So much information missing here..as it's mostly academic...
As user a since 68..grower and breeder since 74.
Sativa = higher THC energetic..not for bedtime.
Indica = higher CBD to THC more sedative..great for bedtime, deep sleep where most healing takes place.
Smoking destroys most of the compound..vaping much less.
Eating by far the best way. Strength depends on strain. Most ppl get hybrids..
    Indica max height 8"
    Sativa max recorded height 40'
Indica short sticky resinous plant used for making Hashish.
Sativa doesn't produce the copious amounts of trichomes need for Hashish.
Indica has a shorter flowering stage..6-10 weeks
    Sativa longer flowering period..10 - 20 weeks,
This is no myth my friend!
I have been passionate user longer than Joe Rogan been alive.
Read many books, taught many to grow because that's the best and cleanest plus not contributing to any criminal organisations...and the large food leaves when eaten can get you high...best with edibles have it some food otherwise you can get overwhelmed.

It does work in Humans , especially for chronic pain and cancer. I was told there was nothing any doctor could do for chronic back problems from a bad car accident and used to be given anti inflamatory ( Catafast) medicine which only stopped the pain temporarily and had huge side effects on the liver , the THC and CBD oil worked for me after 30 years of chronic pain and a depressing quality of life . Definetely helps with inflammation. I took on drop before bedtime the first week and was already feeling fine . I cant remember if i took it for the 2nd week too as it was 11 years ago but you will know when to stop because the pain stops totally . The THC was 10 per cent and the CBD was lower around 6 per cent. The oil was made in a lab and came with a certificate . It was mixed with olive oil , no preservatives , no ethinol was used either , I always keep a bottle at home as it is the best medicine for all illnesses related to inflamation which most of them are. I need to also add that the oil has also other cannabinoids in it . CBN CBDV CBG CBC THCV D8 THC D9 D8THC

I wish the presenter would have spoken about the importance of the “ entourage effect” between THC & CBD. That’s why synthetic will never measure up to the natural plant. He speaks as if there is no other info available from other countries around the world that aren’t bought by Pharma (which the US sadly is). They could learn so much from research already being done. Why duplicate efforts??
For years there has been major research going on in Israel that the USA has helped fund due to the huge blocks to research here. It is beyond ridiculous that cannabis is still a Schedule 1 drug - thanks to our lawmakers being bought & paid for by Pharma. Pharma does NOT want this crucial natural medicine competing with their trillion $$ drug monopoly. It is a crime against humanity. Cannabis KILLS CANCER!! 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

Definitely helps tapering in my experience reducing from 70mg total oxycodone to 30 without seeming. It was rough but it surely helped. Would recommend following a plan supervised by a doctor. If I had to do it again I would taper off slowly pain levels permitting. I also found after adjusting to a lower daily dose the constipation subsided entirely and I slowly began losing weight getting closer to my optimal BMI

36:35 "CBD is not psychoactive" is not true. It is psychoactive, however, it's non-intoxicating. THC intoxicates us, CBD just helps calm us down, it may help with sleep, it's an anti-inflammatory, so it's helpful in aiding pain of sorts...CBD also counteracts the intoxicating effects of THC, so if you accidentally eat 100mg of THC and get too high, or are about to be too high, take 100mg of CBD, the 1:1 will level your endocannabinoid system out and you will not be high or intoxicated. You'll just feel really good, low to no physical pain, low anxiety, etc... Next, THC is NOT addictive. It actually helps people who suffer from addiction and can and should be used in treating addicts. There is such a wide variety of beneficial uses to the cannabis plant, and addiction is not a word that fits. Anyway, that's what I got.

yeah , CBD passes the blood brain barrier therefore is psychoactive ... because CBD is antagonist @cb2 receptors it is recognized in the imune system ( mitochondria) ... as THC is agonist @ cb1 it is recognized in the central nervous system ( ions) . and this - THC-a and CBD-a are the acidic forms that are on the living plant ... we have found 150 phytocannabinoids on the plant so far ... they are carbon active ... there is a counterpart to each carbon active phytocannabinoids and that is the carbon neutral ( decarboxylated ) form

But if they realized that Americans are so lazy now that we would rather buy it instead of planting it. Heck nobody plants a garden anymore.
