As a 60 year old Electrician this is all new to me so thanks for the video Nate. Give me a room to crash in and I will come down and give you some free Electrical work.
So much of this went right over my head but I'm glad you are so excited about it Nate! You're making a lot of progress on your homestead recently. Good for you!
Great video Nate! Nice to see Jackery expanding to meet the off-grid demand. I now own a Jackery because of a past review you did on one. I had no clue before that and I didn't have anything as a means of backup in case the power went down. Now I do, so thank you!
Excited to see how this holds up over time! I'm starting my planning journey for buying a plot of land and putting a cabin on it, and intend to go fully "off-grid" (purely in the public-grid-disconnected sense), so looking at long-term reviewers of Jackery and their competitors :) That UPS mode is definitely of interest because I have a lot of sensitive electronics to keep online too. Thanks for the video!

Wow the 5000 plus is a great addition to your homestead Nate. A nice Christmas present from Jackery. Merry Christmas to you, your girlfriend Jen and your puppy Dawgs !
Awesome! Thanks for the informative video! On another note- just received the beard care set today! Just in time for my son-in-law for Xmas! Thanks! Hope you and Jen and all the animals have a great Xmas day, even though you do not celebrate it- I still hope it’s a great day for y’all!
My cousin-in-law is living off-grid. She’s currently got chickens, rabbits, solar, and a wood stove. She wants to expand to ducks and even sheep. She does say that guinea fowl are better for pest control than ducks.
I think the most I love of all of these intros is you playing the leaf. Frank like a guitar and it's so goofy which says you're so damned Earth and we already know that. Merry Christmas to you all

The subtitles are hyper annoying for people that dont need them though. I read faster than the man speaks so its made for a poor experience watching his latest videos. I tested youtubes built in subtitles and they were perfect for people that need CC. You dont need to force them on everyone for like 2% of the population. Its a stupid new tik tok trend that is starting to invade youtube and its nothing more than virtue signaling. Seriously whats next? Recording all videos in color blind mode forcing incorrect colors on everyone too?
Those jackery's are getting pretty badass, i still dont trust putting a lithium battery bank inside my house i would have to put them in a seperate enclosure outside where it cant burn my house down if the batteries decide to combust lol.
LFPo batteries don't go critical like regular Lithium-Ion cell phone or laptop batteries. They have other benefits, too. While you might think having them in a shed is desirable, it has to have a minimum temp. Either layer RV Septic heating pads between them and insulate the box, or add some other method. When you get to volume rack-mount batteries that are 5+kw, they usually do not have internal heaters, and assume you've sorted the temperature issues out externally. There are smaller batteries that do have internal heaters. They still need to be kept somewhere they can maintain within minimum and maximum temps, or they will either shut-off, or at very high temps the cells degrade.
The cheapest retail (non-DIY) I've heard is the 16kw Riuxu with free shipping, for $3200. Who knows what will happen when 25% battery tariffs hit, at the beginning of the year? DIY builds with pre-made banks and a BMS are even cheaper, yeah. But best put that stuff in a temp controlled shed. Not because it can't be made safe, but for finger-pointing reasons if there should be a fire (e.g. insurance). You wouldn't put a power sub-station in your house, either.
How would a Jackery based complete solar system (everything shown in the video + solar panels) compare to your current system at equal output if the upfront cost were to be disregarded? How many of their Saga 500 x panels would it take to achieve a comparable recharge rate to your current setup?
If you're looking at a larger, more capable system -or even the same- at a lower cost, look at EG4 and others. Start with mobile-solarpower and some of Will Prowse's videos, and his forum. The all-in-one that include the battery proprietary systems, that emerged from highly-compact, mobile carry applications, use that to increase price. The other downside, is their proprietary nature means you are locked-into their solutions package.
Wind power is way too flaky, in general, and there's nothing special about his location that would make it advantageous. There needs to be specific favorable geographic and climatic features for a homestead wind turbine to make sense. Those large ones deployed that are an eyesore, are subsidized and don't make up for their expense.
🤔🤔🤔 can you repeat that ..I got like 2 % of that 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 . I did understand the solar panel placement part 😁 getting better..ok sounds great ..I'm sure it's excellent equipment just a hair over my understanding of this part of the homesteading..easy you say 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Question… do you charge the main box by solar power and if I were to use a 120 v mini split ac system.. how quick will it deplete the main power from the solar panels? Thank you ahead of time
How will you keep those lifePo4 batteries within their operating temperature? They will need heat at or below 32degrees. How does that factor into the fuel or electricity needed just to keep the system healthy?
Jackery, Ecoflow, etc compact manufacturers use proprietary systems so it's a little hard to say. Generally, LFPo has a 15-year lifecycle, and the chemistry doesn't fail suddenly like lead-acid. It loses capacity gradually, through cell aging more than cycle stress, with a proper- capacity system; e.g. by not running 10kw when you should have a 30kw bank. More capacity reduces C-rate for a given load or charging rate. 0.2C is typical max for LFPo. So a 2kw charge max or discharge max sustained rate on a 10kw bank. Fire hazard is negligable. That is down to issues with wiring, not cells themselves. LFPo are not the same chemistry, as cell phone or laptop batteries.
to have 10,000 watt hours on hand in a home is some future shvt, i dont think a lot of people understand the power they see here in a tidy small package would take an ocean of deep cycle batteries back in the day and an entire dedicated structure. 220 @ 30a too? wow let's run some tools.
You mean size, as volume or capacity? All LFPo is going to be about the same weight per kw and size, although there are newer, more compact higher energy density cells, on the market in the last year. The value isn't there on the compact integrated (battery included) systems, for anyone who does their own electrical. Usually their expansion battery packs are also proprietary in how they connect to the inverter, keeping costs up.
Stay away from Jackery. Most influencers are gonna sell their product bc of sponsorships so they won’t tell u the truth. I have a Jackery explorer 1000v2. I have 2 solar saga prime panels mounted to the top of my SUV. Each 100watt. I also have another 100w solar panel as well. I have the car adapter as well and the Anderson Y connector. I was planning on buying 2-3 more battery packs so I can stay off grind for a long time. Well all these influencers just talk about the features but not about the input. U gotta charge it in order to use the features. Each morning I have to unplug the solar panels and plug them back in in order for it to charge correctly. For example, it could say it’s bring in 20 watts around 930AM. When I unplug and plug back in it jumps to at least 60 watts. So there are insane amount of charging issues. Same with the car adapter. Mine won’t charge the power bank using solar panels and the car adapter. Only the car adapter will work. Once I turn that off, same thing happens. The power station will say around 30-40 watts, then I have to unplug and plug back in and it jumps back up to what it should. Same issue when I just plug in the to panels using the Y connector and the single panel. Most I have ever got out of 3 solar panels each 100watt was 130watts. They say u can fast charge in 1 hour using the emergency fast charge. It works when it wants to. Sometimes it charges fast at 1000watts while plugged in to charge it. 75% of the time it’s right at 360 watts while plugged in the the wall outlet. Usually takes about 2-3 hours to charge it with the wall. Dry seldom do u get the 1000watts. I’ve only had it for about a months now and Jackery tech support isn’t helping to replace it. They are now ignoring my emails as well as not returning my calls. When I call and get a person they say they will call back in less than 24 hours but never do. I have emails showing how many times I’ve emailed them and no response. So they don’t honor anything they say they do. U can’t leave reviews to see what people really think about their products. I’ve about $2500 deep into it and it doesn’t charge properly and no help… Stay away from Jackery. These influencers need to be more honest. They don’t have stores so I can’t take it in and have someone look at it. It’s been a freaking nightmare. I’ve waited 3 years to get my Jackery and this is what my experience was like. As far as the output, it works great. But if u can’t get it to charge correctly then those features become obsolete… Stay away from their products. No one shows videos about the issues with charging bc if they did, then people won’t use their code. Be honest and tell ur followers the truth….
I’ll tell y’all the truth bc I’m not the one trying to make money off y’all. Mine clearly have charging port issues. They even said it shouldn’t be doing what mine is doing. Then one guy said mine was fine. So they asked to make a video showing what it was doing and I did and once I did they stopped responding. Horrible product, horrible customer service, they are all foreigners. Build ur own so if u need to replace something you can with out having to change ur whole set up. I can’t take it back bc I mounted on the roof of my car. They don’t honor their warranty. Horrible experience..
Does the water company charge you I'm just asking because if for some reason you have available water without using them I had a problem with my property they wanted a fee because my land did not recover it's own water

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO A SIMPLE LIFE ?
Is there any possibility of flooding of the garage and do you need to get it off yhe floor
He lives on top of a hill.
will and jesse showing vids online of streets and houses is gonna target you @Nate Petroski
nevermind the fact that Will is showing sooo many people where he lives and you live in turn.....beware of online psychos and even criminal friends taking NOTE...it will bite you at the end of the day..Make rules
for example there was this other female called Eva Zubeck...she bought land and showed her neighbors business on her channel..immediatly she was stalked and had to leave her own land for safety reasons
It's pretty well known by now that Nate's other property that Will is on, is nowhere near his 100 acre land.
So, nice try. Feels like concern-trolling.
