That is a wonderful piece of art... pink is such a difficult color and you made your piece like it is a realistic sunset. And that is beautiful. So don't doubt. I don't mind the less texture of the color pencil as I prefer that smoothness. So yes I love it... next time put some cats in the trees... 😂... and you have your cat art... ❤❤❤ greetings from belgium...
That was so satisfying to watch! 😁 When I was young I felt like I was expected to like pink because I was a girl, and I sort of disliked it just based on that. Now, I appreciate the color and its infinite variations (soft, vibrant, warm, cool) a lot more.

I've never had any difficulties getting coloured pencils to work on smooth paper. It goes on evenly with gentle pressure and its easy to get bright & vibrant consistent colours - no gaps. But I do have issue using them on textured paper as it ends up with horrid white uneven gaps which are incredibly hard to fill in with colour so the result always looks patchy with areas of lots of dark colour & then the bright white gaps. End up having to press stupidly hard trying to flatten the texture to get even colour application. So I always go for smooth paper for pencil crayon. For anything really. I just don't get the point of the paper ever being textured it just looks cheap and rough/unfinished to me.
I agree, smooth paper is better, but not too smooth. Just as much texture for the pigments to stick to but not as much to leave bumps and gaps in the color
