What is strange?
There is nothing strange about this. Timeline: Officer left to go home after his shift, pulls into alley and gets robbed and killed *badge and gun stolen. Detectives used cameras in the area and other witness info to locate and track down suspects potentially related to case meanwhile a gps cell phone ping was probably expedited with 10-24 hours and narrowed down who was in the area within close to 15 feet of the crime at that very moment thus narrowing it down to one person who was that man. I'm sure if there is any involvement and evidence being taken they should have a strong case against this man. Normal practice and procedure for any department. 7 days, better than never!

Ban guns entirely and there would be no gun violence. Officers return to the title of peace officer whom converse with civilians to defuse and not escalate situations and civilians will respect the police. This solves a lot of problems but people are so adamant about having guns so it puts officers in fight or flight at all times. It creates a hostile environment
